Baka was shocking again. Thought we defended well until their goal to be honest.

I actually thought he played well today, wasn't a player who had a bad game tbh

Shame we couldn't get that 2nd goal to kill them off today, Thought Sunderland were very poor today.
It was nice to finally see Burge kick a ball to a sky blue shirt.

I'm even more pissed off a couple of hours later, we've played more than most and now face the prospect of dropping out of the play off places when teams win games in hand. Anybody in the top half can catch us.
Robins needs to let the handbrake off away from home sometimes

Feels like a loss but a point away to them is a good result. We just need a run now without injuries

I agree with this, sometimes too cautious away, the difference between home and away is visible

While I agree this result is decent in isolation the issue is away this season we have dropped too many points late in games.

Totally agree and as like many others I completely expected it, which speaks volumes

The fact that he's never pulled up any trees in the first team here or on loan leads me to believe that he's probably not the answer. Of what we have, I still think Max is the best option - but paired with Godden or Jordy.

Apart from the best goal per minutes ratio of our strikers in the last season he was available - including McNulty.

I think our first choice pairing should be Max and Godden, but after that it's pretty much open season. Hiwula hasn't been seen next to Max yet and I would be interested for that to happen on occasion should Godden be unavailable as he was top scorer last season but it's doesn't feel like his strength is shooting and hitting the net, neither is it Baka's.

The problem we have is when Max is unavailable to provide that partnership - we have no alternative and all the rest of our strikers become ineffective because of it..

But to totally write off a 21 year old who's main attribute has been scoring goals when our main problem is scoring goals seems like cutting off the nose to spite the face.

You sum it up with the phrase “of what we have”
Unfortunately, what we have is nowhere near good enough.
Bakayoko, Biamou, Hiwula, Kastaneer, and Ponticelli need moving on asap.
How soon we can do it however, is the issue.

Biamou has been the thing making us more effective in the final third since he came back. Others can work well off him, he makes a nuisance of himself and he can chip in with the odd goal.

Aside from the non stop singing (couple of comical songs created for today) the biggest cheat came from our fans when Burge’s kick went out for a throw! City fans have never cheered him or chanted his name so loudly

Macfadzean shows none of his so called experience, why did he lash at the second attempt clearance with his wrong foot? He is a bit of a liability but then does make some good blocks and defensive headers

I see the makems are moaning again, apparently someone chucked a coin at them when they scored. Some fucking throw that would be! Never heard such a whingeing bunch of whining fans!

The quote "it's not where you have been, but where you are at" springs to mind. I hope he comes good somewhere but as he can't get in the team struggling in our league which does make you think he needs to look a few tiers lower than league 1 to build his career in first team mens football from.

I enjoyed Oggy's reaction to that on commentary, 'He did that quite a lot while he played for us.'

Glad max is back next week same system will work brilliant with max linking play midfield will all benefit...don’t see Baka playing much now unless injuries or a late sub appearance he’s had more than enough chances...max will replace him Godden is not far behind,If we can sell Baka & Hiwula in jan that will be great business

‪What does this mean though? Peterborough and Rotherham are above us and have lost 5 each. Fleetwood have lost 5 too but are 1 point behind us with two games in hand. ‬

We have drawn the most games in England - a win and a loss is better than two draws.

to answer your question, it means 2 things to me

1) we are hard to beat
2) that sort of ratio will always mean we will always be looking up and not down in the league

It means when we have strikers, we will be winning more than drawing or losing

Id say we have much to look forward to if we are doing this and still haven't had a full strength team on the field all season.

Several players hopefully back and fit again within the next few weeks and hopefully a real boost into January

we haven't once fielded our strongest team this season so far. last couple of games (which we haven't lost) we have has one striker available (and we all know what people think of him).

to some, today may have felt like a loss, but it wasn't. you only have to see the home fans today to realise what expectation gets you, clearly the vast majority don't / didn't enjoy supporting their team.

We have a foundation to build on, I trust MR to do it

Agree, perhaps I worded it not as intended. What I was trying to get at is that we really need to get some away wins on the board. I think without them we can’t have a serious punt at finishing where we want to.

Baka wasn't bad today. He just isn't a clinical goalscorer. Alongside another striker, he'd have done a far better job.

prob in the same pub as the guy who was predicting a slide down the table, the one who fears relegation if we get some injuries etc

he's not wrong to be fair. another goal and they'd have crumbled.
On the plus side, we all know Baka isn't first choice. Hopefully a front two of Godden and Max will start seeing us being a bit more prolific and Robins has hinted about signing a striker in January.
Said in a couple of previous posts it's going to be very tight this year and small margins will decide it, we need to make sure we get it right.

Although we are only drawing away this means teams like Pompey, Sunderland, Oxford etc have also dropped 2 points when they have played us. Players coming back from injury and suspension, particularly in the attacking area can only be a huge positive. We are surely exceeding what people had been expecting in terms of performances, particularly when you take into account our absentees.
