113 Champ players set to be free agents in 2025 including Coventry City players

Latest Coventry City news as CoventryLive brings you a rundown of the players who are all going to be out of contract in the Championship next summer
www.coventrytelegraph.net

Tyrhys Dolan or Victor Moses for RW
Anfernee Dijksteel or Cyrus Christie as a backup for MVE
Ilias Chair or John Swift for AM but think both players have past their peak
Kenneth Paal but his height puts me off, don’t want another JDS
Jimmy Dunne
Freddie Woodman and get rid of Collins, Wilson & Tyler and use the wages to have two solid keepers (wishful thinking but would never happen)
Grady Diangana

I've always liked Goutas whenever I've seen Cardiff play. Wouldn't be a bad shout if we want some experience and steel at CB. Slim picking apart from that.

On a free Agent basis, Id like to see us look at Darling and Poku off the top of my head.

Two new centre backs please. Proper ‘wave a magic wand’ choices: Cameron Burgess and Adrian Leon Barisic.

Have thought for a while we will be going in for Tyrhys Dolan in the summer on a free given the previous interest. Would be an upgrade at RW and good competition for Saka.

Hope we go back in for Alvyn Sanches in the summer. He’s having an incredible season. 13 goals, 4 assists in 26 games playing all across the attack and in midfield.

All depends on how much churn Frank feels we need, he's getting a tune out of the squad at the minute so may feel it's just depth we need.

Personally I'd say:

Outs:

Milan (£10m), Sheaf (£7m), Eccles (£5m), JDS(£.5m), Collins (£.5m), Lati or Binks (£1m), Rafa (Loan), Bassette (Loan)

Ins:

2xRB, 1xLB, 1xCB, 1xCM and 1xRW

Should be looking for starters at RB, LB and LW. CB should be experience but probably be rotation with Thomas and Kitch, Darling would be ideal. RB and CM should be young squad player who are progression planning.

That brings in £24m and we can expect another £6m for Vik so should be plenty going around for us to make upgrades.

With the left over budget we should be looking to make signings like Bassette who we can add value to over the next couple of years and future plan.

We’re not getting 5m for Eccles, and given his injury record and the fact he’s out of contract - 7m for sheaf seems a bit much atm

we’re only getting 10% profit for Vik at they’re talking 58m for him so that’s roughly 3.8m then you have to take off what we have to give to Brighton from that

from your group of players in the outs - we’ll be lucky to clear 15m

I do wonder if we’ll be paying the Brighton fee as the original deal they paid the first sell on for us, my Portugese legal speak isn’t good enough to know if that means they pay this as well.

Doug says all kinds of shit. It’s his job to play down how much we’ve got available and the club have been wrong a lot on technical details before (registering U21s, away capacity requirements, etc)

I did wonder that, regarding him throwing others off the scent. It’s probably some kind of deal like we had with madders - if they’re entitled to say 15% of the sell on it’s about 500k isn’t it

Just throwing a couple of random names into the fold (alongside my earlier mentions of Cameron Burgess and Adrian Leon Barisic):

Archie Brown
Keigo Tsunemoto

Like with Joy but more so well have available what he makes available. We didn’t expect the full fees to be reinvested and then some but they were. So I don’t think it matters too much outside of forum fodder tbh.

I think there's actually quite a few that would be good signings for us tbh but i cba to name them all. Probably about 10-15 that would be good options in our squad.

We only have to give Brighton 10% and i'm sure we've paid that off in the first sale iirc. Either way it'll be under £400k.

If a team gets Sheaf for less the £7mill they'll be laughing. At the start of the season people were saying they wouldn't entertain 7 figures. Gus and Vik were also last year of there contracts and we got top market value for them at the the time.

On Eccles players like him don't move often, just looking through Transfer Mrkt for similar player deals over the last couple of years. Ben Pearson (29) £1.5m, Gardner-Hickman (21) £1.5m, Barlaser (26) £1m, Lewis O'brien (23) £9.5m, Flynn Downes (23) £10m. Whilst clearly, to us, Eccles isn't as good as O'brien or Downes his career numbers track very closely to both in terms of appearances and goals. We have a good length on his contract and if he's unhappy about game time or Frank has said he can go I'm sure his agent won't find it hard to find suitors.

Sheaf talent-wise I’d agree. But given he has 1 year left and his injury record is likely to count against him. You’ve also got to look at him just running his contract down. The optimal time was to sell him in the summer just gone

on Eccles - you’re examples suggests he will only be worth around 1.5m. He’s a similar position to Sheaf. If anyone’s offering 5m for our defensive midfielders it’s Ben Sheaf

likelyhood is - Eccles is going nowhere. We’re light on midfield as is. Once Allen goes and more than likely Sheaf. It leaves us Rudoni, Grimes, Torp and Eccles.

I don't think it necessarily does, if you let Eccles go you should try to keep Sheaf if possible.

I get why we're assuming Sheaf will be sold, but why MVE? Is the inside story that he definitely wants out? If Vik goes and Sheaf for £4-5m, that should cover three or four good signings (CB, LB, CM, RB cover).

I genuinely think we’ve got more chance of keeping hold of MVE than Haji Wright.

I know we don’t necessarily have to sell Haji due to contract length but I can’t see him happy being in the Championship another season, especially with WC around the corner. I think he’ll kick up a fuss and force a move come summer if we play hard ball.

If he wants a move this summer he'll need to prove he's properly over this injury and is back on form.

Cos he’s worth lots and we’ve had bids that just haven’t met the asking price. And I assume Lampard will want spending money.

I think Wright is some way off attracting significant interest in the prem. Different story if he storms the end of the season, but if he does that we might be in the prem anyway

Think he's top of the list of likely departures. I'd be interested in seeing whether Everton would let Nathan Patterson out on loan with a view to buy anyway.

Do we think he needs / will want more than we'd get from Sheaf and Vik moving? I'd expect at least £6-8m from that. He's already had a £3-4m CM handed to him.

Depemds if anyone wants Sheaf or Vik and what he wants to spend. Need to pay back the £4m for Grimes according to Saddle as well.
