Can't help but feel that the summer will be a key transfer window. The recruitment needs to be spot on and any decent revenues we receive spent wisely. We can't afford to be making mistakes similar to JDS Collins and arguably Binks .
I would expect Eccles , BTA & Lati to go also .
There should be plenty of funds from selling MVE , Sheaf , Vik sell on money plus bits and bobs for the above to build a squad which won't be weak in any area of the pitch. If we achieve this then it will be down to FL and the coaching staff to see what they can do with players of their own choice .

I only saw him the once versus MK in a pre season season before this, he looked really good, combined well with Palmer.
Having said that it wasn't the greatest test as DaSilva was ripping them to shreds.

Reading between the lines and some of our bigger players who’ve been here a few seasons will defo be off.

Out:

Collins
Wilson
Lati
Binks
JDS
Eccles
BTA
Sheaf (£s)
MVE (£s)
Wright (£s)

Expect about £40m+ with Vik money as well in the summer.

That gives Frank a decent kitty to build the squad to the next level (if we’re still in the Champ)

I think this list is spot on, based on whispers that are going around.
Eccles would fetch a decent enough fee too.
The only thing i'd say is that if Wright were to go anywhere it would have to be a sizeable fee, and it's not been said that there has been any interest in him as of yet. So i think we have a good chance of keeping him, especially with contract length.

So thinking on it based on a 4-3-3

Dovin, Collins (Don’t think he’s going anywhere and think we’re better to spend money elsewhere than get a new back up)

We’ll need imo two RBs to come in. One as a back up and one starting.

Darling, Thomas as your right sided CBs.

Kitching, Binks as left sided CBs.

New Leftback with Bidwell supporting.

Grimes and Eccles as your DMs. Don’t really understand the desire to move Eccles out unless he wants out. Feel him understudying Grimes could help his game.

Torp and Rudoni both playing the CMs. Feel we could do with one more to challenge for a spot. That way we have five CMs for three spots with Torp and Eccles on the bench.

A new starting Right wing should be a focus. Allows us to have him next to Sakamoto or sell Sakamoto as last year if Raphael is coming on. I think Poku from Posh on a free could be a great shout for this.

Left wing is an odd one. If Wright starts here under Lampard, no work needed if not, think we’ll need a new one to back up EMC

On strikers, feel we could do with a different option up front unless Wright plays there. Would want a poacher more in the vain of Godden.

TLDR incoming: Two RBs, One CB (Darling), One LB, One CM, One RW (Poku), One LW or One ST.

Outgoing: Wilson, MVE, Lati, JDS, Allen, Sheaf, BTA (depending on where Wright plays).

Wilson has been injured for the majority of the season though. I'm sure he only came back in the New Year.

It's possibly a case that's he's just not match sharp enough to warrant a spot on the bench rather than FL definitively preferring Collins.

Judging off Jimmy87’s comments Im guessing out will be :
Collins, Wilson, Lati, Binks, Dasilva, Eccles, Sheaf, MvE

Leaves this as a squad

GK - Dovin
RB - n/a
CB - Thomas | Kitching
LB - Bidwell
CDM - Grimes | Allen
CM - Rudoni | Torp | Andrews
RW - Sakamoto
ST - Wright | Simms | Asante | Bassette
LW - EMC | Raphael

This shows clear gaps where we need signings 2x RBs, 2x CBs, 1x LB, 1x CDM/CM, 1x RW

So for me I’d like
RB - Bryan Reynolds (4m)
RB - Brooke Norton-Cuffy (2m)
CB - Harry Darling (free)
CB - Cameron Burgess (free/1m) (out of contract but Ipswich have a 1 year option)
LB - Turr Rommens (3m)
CM - Majeed Ashimeru (1.5m)
RW - Kayky (loan)

Maybe we might see a loan in at CM on top but thats all for me I think which would leave us with a profit. Can see Bassette going out on loan as he’s out 4th choice and would struggle to make the bench if we played the 433 and all forwards were fit, think Andrews will step up after getting gametime for Motherwell, think Obikwu will be heading to League 1 on loan, Burroughs will be off unless he has a stormer of a second half of the season, Howley will be gone, We’ll have a youth keeper on the bench unless we sign an experienced head to compete with Dovin, Tavares will be gone.

This should theoretically leave us with a profit, meaning funds can go into cleaning the outside of the stadium looks moldy, funds for some operating costs, wages and a little business in January if a small bit of tinkering is needed.

I think we’ll get around 20m in for the players going out and of course extra wage room, then I’ve forecasted a spend of 10.5m up to 11.5m. +8.5m/+9.5m profit

I think I’d go for 11 in:

RB - loan
RB - £2m - Young challenger for loanee we can develop
CB - £4m - Leader and organiser (who can also defend
CB - £2m someone with pace
LB - £2m - Young attacking alternative to Bidwell
DM - £1m - Grimes understudy
CM - £5m - Marquee quality signing dynamic box to box midifeldwr
CM - loan - Challenge to Torp and Rudi
RW - £3m - Quick and tricky and ideally can play a few positions along the front three
LW - Loan - As above
ST - £3m - Someone with a first touch who offers something different from Simms and Wright

£4m owing for Grimes = £26m

Sell: MvE (10), Sheaf (4), Vik sell on (6), Dasilva (0.5), Lats (1), BTA (2), Eccles (2), Binks (0.5) = £26m
Release: Wilson, Tavares, Allen, Burroughs, Howley

Give you

Dovin/Collins/Academy GK
RB/RB
CB/CB/Thomas/Kitching
LB/Bidwell
Grimes/DM
CM/rudoni/CM/torp
RW/Sakamoto
EMC/LW
Wright/ST/Simms

Loan out Bassette and Rapha

If Sheaf and MVE are off...

Dovin/Collins
RB/RB
Thomas/Lati
Kitching/CB
LB/Bidwell
Grimes/Allen
Rudoni/Eccles
Torp/CM
Wright/EMC
Simms/BTA/Bassette
Sakamoto/RW

That's 6 signings (RB, RB, CB, LB, CM, RW)

Lati, Binks, Dasilva, BTA, Bassette (loan) would listen to offers for

If 1-2 others go as well you'd look to recruit direct replacements. 7/8 signings would be pushing it, I don't want to see us go crazy and sign a whole new team because I doubt that ends well.

2x CB

1x RW
1x LB

I think you're right about Andrews, have a feeling he has the ability to make the breakthrough.
Also as a side note, i think BTA may leave if we can recover what we paid for him, there is interest in him from other championship clubs and we obviously had the approach this window from one of them. I think he will be upgraded.
MVE will only go if the valuation is met, from what i've heard. It's not the case that they are actively trying to move him on.
I suppose as with any player, if a big enough bid comes in then we would have a decision to make.
Like you said, just a small bit of tinkering needed.

I'd look to move on Haji Wright. We'll get 15mill+ for him, and now EMC is upto speed, no need for both. Get the next round of succession planning off to a good start and it'll pay off long term.

Wing backs are notoriously difficult to recruit. There's not really many about, especially at this level.

200+ Championship apps, Wales international, fairly decent age. There's some plus points which would attract clubs.

We'd probably struggle to get a fee, but a club could take over his existing contract.

When it was rumoured there was interest him in January, i asked if he knew what we would let him go for, he said he had heard £9m+ GBP. Whether or not any other clubs value him at that price remains to be seen. This is why i think we stand a chance of holding on to him.

I get your view and may prove right but right now, I disagree.

MVE - loveable character and rapid but he is a very average RB or RWB. His positional sense is poor and relys on pace to recover. He loses the ball all the time. For 2-4M we can buy much more consistent RBs IMO.

Sheaf’s injury prone. Can barely get 25 games out of him. Time he goes too.

MVE - sold (hopefully £10M
Sheaf - sold £5/6M ? (Assuming he wants to go and doesn’t sign a new contract, assuming the club will offer him one)
JDS - sold. Poor player
Eccles - sold. Not convinced Lamps likes him
Tavares? Sold probably
Allen? Either released or 1 year deal

The big one for me is Wright. Key player for us but very valuable. It will depend if he is happy to stay another year.

What’s Lamps thinking about Simms?

For me, Grimes signing was a very intelligent one which gives me hope the club know what they are doing and what this squad needs.

I agree he's our best player. Just that we have EMC also in that position who is very good. I'm just looking at it from bringing the next lot of talent in. Sell Haji for 15m, that could allow us to back fill quite a few positions with up and coming talented youngsters.

I would get rid of:

MVE, Sheaf, Binks, JDS, Lati, Eccles, BTA, Collins, Howley. Some for the cash, some because they're not up to it.

Loan out: Raphael

Bring into the fold: Obikwu

Yeah, I kinda understand that. If we assume EMC is our left winger that leaves…wright, BTA, Bassette and Simms vying for the striker role. I think BTA might go anyway.
I also think Wright is our best player.

Although I reckon we might be able get more for him.

Our recruitment hasn't been that bad over the last couple of windows.
I think most if not all errors came in that first window from the fact we needed to overhaul such a poor squad overall, and Kings experience left us in a position where we took bigger punts than we have since, particularly in central defence.
I hope now the structure is in a better place if Gimoc is right and we can also shift on at least 2 of the 4 CB's and JDS then we will be in a good position to improve the quality of the squad.

Perhaps it’s too obvious, I can’t see us not playing a front 3 of Haji-Simms-EMC. If it doesn’t work, then it’s back to the drawing board but each of those players impact the game positively in attack.

I’m not sure Wright at striker and EMC necessarily works. Both players will want to work their way in from the left hand channel so you could have a similar situation where they get in each others way. Similar to how Mbappe and Vini haven’t clicked together at Real Madrid - albeit at a much lower standard.

I have a feeling Wright will push for a move, home world cup at the end of next season. Feel like his agent and Potch will be in his ear to test himself.

With the other logical exits and Viks money we will have a massive budget but quite a rebuild on our hands. Really hope we can get some more balance and back up in the squad

think It depends on how/where we finish this season, don’t think we’ll be adding too many, lampard Was brought in to get more from the players we’ve got, he’s started to do that, maybe 3 or 4 in and try and keep hold of sheaf, MVE and wright, won’t be a bad summer

My terrible memory is fading but did EMC, when playing on the left, drift into the middle a bit?
I’ve never really been as convinced by Wright in a more central position. Would be interesting if they could swap about a bit…if that’s what Mbappe and Vinicius do?

Wright has been in every US squad that he’s been eligible for, why leave when he can potentially get promoted next season and be a premier league player, especially when he has guaranteed game time and to be our main man, Potch will want him to play where he can show his talents best
