Summer transfer window 2024 (6 Viewers)

To get Billing in plus cash , I presume for a right back .
We aren't Man Citeh , we can't not sell players ever again

Yeah, obviously.

But we're in a much healthier position now where we don't need to sell our best players to address weaker areas.

[skyblu3sk]

I can't believe people would sell Simms or Wright?!

For years we've been crying out for a striker to hit 20 goals a season and when we get two of them, people would be ok selling - when we're trying to get promotion?

Fucking hell!

There's far too much over-reaction to 2/3 mediocre performances in just our first 3 games.

It's up there with some of the dumbest takes I have seen in this site. Let's weaken the area we got right for some unproven players like the ones we have in the middle... At least we look dangerous going forward we shouldn't give that up quickly.

[SeaSeeEffCee]

Billing plus cash for Simms sounds like a great deal for the right now, but if Simms has another season where he gets 20ish goals in all comps he’ll be worth £25m+ next summer.

[HuckerbyDublinWhelan]

Talking of Strikers - didn’t Vivaesh at the end of the season say they saw Wright as a more central player? Could they possibly sell Simms to Bournemouth for cash and Billing and play EMC on the left?

[TomRad85]

@fernandopartridge are these deals still in negotiation or have they been killed?

[skybluesteve]

Is this a serious post ?

Yep. I can't imagine he'd want to join us.

[procdoc]

Would be really disappointing if we don't get a midfielder. Questions would have to be asked.

You’re not allowed to question anything on here. I have found that out today.

[shmmeee]

And play a completely untested 19 year old

I said if we couldn’t get a replacement in time Bassette would get more time, as would BTA, or even Wright up front. It would be a much better position than losing Sheaf or MvE with no replacement.

Obviously the ideal is a replacement.

Billing is rated around 15 million currently

[BlueSkiesForever]

If we had sold Sheaf at the start of the summer you would be 10 times as insufferable as you are now

I think I’d just about take 2 of the CMs we’ve been linked with (Bernede, Madsen, Reis etc, plus any spare change) rather than keep Sheaf, and I’m saying that as a big fan of Sheaf. I just think we need a better all round midfield rather than relying on keeping one quality midfielder fit all the time.

[ccfcricoh]

We are not selling a midfielder without bringing in one.

yea we'd never sell our best CM late in the window and not replace them ...

[Liquid Gold]

My kingdom for a midfielder

[mark82]

Of who exactly?

Recruitment team, manager, owner. Anyone involved. Obviously if they see the midfield as good enough to achieve promotion then that's a decision they make. Would just be very disappointing if we miss out because we've not added. Next summer likely to see a lot of outgoings if we don't go up.

Constantly seeing the negative is different to asking questions

It's a transfer window. Unfortunately these things do happen and targets get missed out on.

If you're expecting a postmortem into the intricacies as to why certain deals didn't come off then you're going to be bitterly disappointed.

But you're suggesting that they haven't tried when it is patently obvious they have been . You can't just will a player to sign ,.everything has to be right

Rejected as far as I'm aware

Targeting the wrong players maybe?

Assume if the midfielder off then Palmer will stay. That'll please some.

Now you know how I feel having come up against so much stick for simply raising questions, not even always giving answers, just simply amusing some thoughts

[SleepyGinger]

No signings in midfield would be disappointing but not disastrous, Its the same midfield as last year with Rudoni in for OHare. The club are obviously trying. I’d prefer to go with what we’ve got than overspend on a panic buy now.

Latte Lath is refusing to travel with MBoro to Cardiff tomorrow after interest from Ipswich, that’s a real disastrous deadline day. Bit of perspective needed.

[DazzleTommyDazzle]

Guys, we are still confident of a double/triple signing announcement at 5pm, aren’t we?

Aren’t we???

[procdoc]

What do you mean?

I have questioned not bringing in a player in an area where we clearly need an improvement and get called negative for it

Of course. Where there's panic there's always hope!

They haven't targeted too many wrong ones over the past 3 windows .
I'm frustrated we haven't got one over the line but there is no hidden agenda to it , it's just circumstances and timing

[David O'Day]

yea we'd never sell our best CM late in the window and not replace them ...

any of our midfielders angling for a move after stringing us along for months?

no?

we it's not the same as the Hamer situation

Mate you're not negative , a dreamer regarding signings and money available maybe but not as dreary as others

Circumstance, timing & maybe poor planning. It's not just about today, they've had the whole window. Would be happy with loan or transfer.

Is Alzate still available? Maybe one we could go for even after the window closes.

[Winny the Bish]

7pm

@coventrycity Kasey Palmer’s departure confirms the end of our business this transfer window. On to Norwich. #PUSB

Me: Heads straight to the nearest bridge

[torchomatic]

Andy Turner says we won't be getting a CM today.

As far as I'm reading Turners tweets it seems the permanent signing isn't happening. I would hope we are working towards a potential loanee instead

[long way home]

I did hear the same thing about Simms early last week, but obviously it would be only considered if we had others areas covered.

I think its too late for one of the big players to leave now. But can see Tavares, Palmer, Collins and Dausch or Andrews going out on loans or perms.

He did say permanent didn't he ? Or target not coming ?

Don't think Palmer will go now if we're not getting another midfielder in.

Bedwetter not negative
