Cantwell's the same player mentally as Palmer, gets rattled easily in games and causes a stink when sat on the bench. Add into that a real lack of defensive ability, hope we avoid.
I literally stated the perspective in the comment you quoted, i.e. we need a CM as it is, if Palmer leaves then that’s an extra player we need to replace. Really don’t see what’s wrong with that, our midfield needs improving and I’m sure there’s very few people on here that think otherwise.
I’m saying 0 in and 1 out, and that’s a BSF promise.

We need a 6/8 midfielder. Not arsed about replacing Palmer as a 6 or 8 is more of a priority

I’d be pleasantly surprised if there is more than 1 incoming.
I refuse to believe Coventry City are competent enough to sign two players on Deadline Day.
We couldn't even sign Nacho Novo after he signed a contract.

May be wrong but think Fox was a week before.
Remember a white knuckle ride when we signed Frank Nouble and Sebastian Hines on deadline day. I've no recollection of Hines ever playing for us but may have blanked it out of my memory.

It is a marathon not a sprint. We do not have sufficient cover RB. The general consensus is that many have all concerns over CD and DM positions not having enough depth, and if Palmer leaves we need to replace. So, yes, we are probably short of 4 players over the course of the season.
Last season we were definitely short on Cover, especially towards the end of the season, if we look at leavers since and including Hamer, we have lost Hamer, McFadzean, Kelly, O'Hare, Godden, Moore and Binks - so 7 out
and replaced with Torp, EMC, Rudoni, Dovin, BTA, Raphael, Bassette and Binks- so 8 in.
Is 1 additional player to the squad going to make any significant difference in players been over played, as an example MVE and Lati have had to play parts in the LC as well as starting in the league because of the RB cover situation. MVE burnt out last season, whats to help prevent that again this season?
For me, no cover RB, no DM - basically the Hamer replacement, and if Palmer goes - no replacement lined up would be a failure in the transfer market this summer.
Squad wise including Collins, Palmer and Tavares we have 22 players in the squad, if those 3 move on, then 19 players
We have 6 U21's who are likely to play a part to one extent or another- Bassette, Andrews, Raphael, Dausch, Obikwu and Bell
Two out on loan - Burroughs and Howley.
Is 19 senior players sufficient (I acknowledge Bassette and Raphael likely to be in the squad regularly so possibly 21 senior players)
First choice wise probably two a DM and an AM if Palmer goes. However, I think a new CB would be expected to go straight into the backline, and a RB to give us some proper depth in that area
So do I think we will get 4 players - No, do I think we are 4 short - yes, over the course of the season, I think we will be caught short.
I’m still of the opinion that we have plenty of cover at RB, we have Lati, Eccles and Tats if needs be, it really isn’t a priority. There’s really no need to spend a decent amount of money on a player that isn’t going to get in at any point in front of the best RB in the division.
Rudoni is our only attacking midfielder (given Palmer leaves) and is being played as a dynamic 8 that can do everything. Palmer seemingly being moved on strengthens the notion that we're going for a main formation without a traditional 10.
