Coventry City boss Frank Lampard is setting up a Premier League move for keeper Anthony Patterson.

Lampard fears he will need a new number one next season as Carl Rushworth is set to return to Brighton after a terrific loan spell.

Patterson is on loan at Millwall from Sunderland and the Lions will also try to keep him if they go up at the end of the campaign.

However Lampard is on his trail...

Seems like a lack of ambition unless it is someone to replace Wilson on the bench though Wilson has a contract to summer 2027.

I just see this as the club exploring its options rather than serious interest.

No he isnt

Rushworth is Number 1 target

If not, expect to see one of Trafford or Ramsdale on loan

I think you need to read it again.

Nixon isn’t saying we want Patterson over Rushworth. He’s saying IF we can’t land Rushworth then Patterson is on our list of alternatives. That list will have both plan and perm options on it I’m sure.

Unfortunately I don’t see us signing Rushworth. He might well want to come to Cov but Brighton hold all the cards and seeing him this season, why would you sell him? Future England #1

because he has a year left on his contract so if he doesn't end up as their keeper next season and signs a new deal they run the risk of him leaving for free

Oh I didn’t know that to be fair. Does make it a bit more likely.

I still think they make him their main keeper next year though but I would love to be wrong and for us to sign him

I've been told that Brighton now wants to keep Rushworth.
That only changed recently when Zebruggen told them he wanted away

Hmmm tbh on the rare occasion you've dropped something on here its been pretty accurate. It is what it is, there are other keepers available.
Still think Dovin is a good talent too but will need a loan after all this time out.

I'll worry about that at the end of the season and enjoy him for now, if we get promoted Rushworth could well down tools at Brighton and tell them he wants a permanent move here. It does happen

Dovin nowhere near Prem standard.
I'd have him above Patterson though - who is not a Prem standard keeper either!!
A fair few Sunderland fans weren't having him in the championship!!!

I disagree, before Dovin got injured I thought he genuinely looked PL standard. He was fantastic

My big worry however is that he never quite recovers to the same level. It’s a bit concerning he seems to be having so many set backs.

Saw this and thought "yeah no thanks" might be a good goalie at championship level but not Premier League level, Rushworth is Premier League level and we should do whatever it takes to get him permanently.

I'm not normally gutted about players leaving the club as it is what it is but he will be one I'll be really gutted if we can't get back, if we sign Rushworth permanently then my god what a start to the summer window.
