Maddison:
In March 2016, Maddison was included in an England under-21 squad, but was unable to play due to injury. He received his first call-up to the England under-21 side in November 2017, and made his debut against Ukraine U21. He received his first call up to the senior squad in October 2018 for the UEFA Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.

Lookman:
He received his first call-up for the England under-21s for European Championship qualifiers against the Netherlands under-21s and Latvia under-21s in September 2017. He made his debut in the first match, and set up Everton teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin for England's goal in a 1–1 draw.

Both pretty close - the future's bright for England. And Maddison just adds that 'something' - he's going places.

its true, 3m for someone alot of cov fans could see was destined for national team(same couldnt be said for wilson) is pretty poor. anderson fucked up our season and future in 1 go

Can you not see Wilson getting called up though? He was in decent form before his injury, came back to a slow start and seems to be doing the job again. He'll be there at some point I reckon, especially looking at the forward options at the moment.

I think it's only a matter of time before Wilson gets the call up too, providing he doesn't get injured again of course.

We got £4m in sell-ons though so the total transfer was something like £8m in total. How much did lookman go for?

We got more for Maddison than MK got for Dele Alli

i meant when we sold him we couldnt have thought he would make national team. with maddison you could see he had the talent

i heard it was 1.5m rising to over 3m with addons

maybe england clause is 5m lol

Definitely, he looked a good league one striker who would do well in the Championship, beyond that was debatable but he has proved he is more than capable at Premier League level, whether he can cut it versus top defenders is another matter, his PL goals are mostly against the lower level clubs, though when I looked it up he has actually scored against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea previously.

We apparently sold him for 3 Million initially? And then we got 10% at least of the 25 million... so that's 5.5 million right there? I would suggest we have another 1 Million in add-ons probably to come? So likely to be about 6.5 million. For somebody that only made 20 appearances for us, despite the clear Talent think we did well.

fair enough, i guess my bigger issue is we only keep such a big talent for 20 games.

weshould be getting success on pitch from them before selling ideally. as big a win win situation a club like cov can have

Agree with that, but guess it depends on the nature of business at the time. We kept hold of Bayliss this summer which shows we want to do that, but I guess every situation is unique.

Ideally we would have rich free spending owners and love or hate our present owners to turn that sort of money down for a player whos only played a handful of games from a financial point of view is a no brainer no matter what we mere fans think

The way Maddison got schooled by Sigurdsson at the weekend I'd agree he fits right in with England, they got embarrassed by Icelandic players too.

I read today Wilson has joint second most goal contributions this season and the most of any English player. Hazard top with 10, then Aguero and Wilson with 7.

I think his situation may be similar to Deeney’s where Southgate said he’s a good player for how his club want to play but not for how England want to play

But it’s not ‘just’ £3m though is it? We’ve gotten in excess of £5m for him already, and a bit on top of that when he makes an international appearance. It could even surpass £6m one day.

People are forgetting we’re a League 1 club who happened to get relegated the season after. We’d have been lucky to get £1-2m had he been on the books when we got relegated.

Sigurdsson is a class act should be at a bigger stage than Everton in my opinion.
