When we lose I'm in a proper mard with everything and everyone. Ruins my day. Always tell myself its just football but its more than that for us isnt it?

Depends on the manner of the defeat for me. The Forest away game I was absoultely sick afterwards how we threw that away. It felt unjust and I was mad. Yesterday I was disappointed but there were some positives so I wasn't quite so frustrated.

The writing was on the wall after 2 sloppy goals conceded.

We have a goal or 2 in is. But if we continue to concede 2 goals a game then i fear for us.

Was like that for many years. I was always the eternal optimist starting every season believing it would be our year and then seeing it all fall apart year after year. A loss on a Saturday would ruin the weekend and put me in a foul mood.

Think it was the 2012/13 season that changed it for me. Not challenging in L1, even if you ignored the points deduction, and that appalling home leg of the JPT area final were the final straws.

Obviously still want us to win and get annoyed when we don't, especially when we inflict it on ourselves. But now its few minutes being annoyed and moving on.

Exactly this - if we'd have chugged away without looking like coming back against Forest, i'd have felt a bit disheartened, but the way the players went about the second half encouraged me looking forward. Already looking forward to several meltdowns on here during the difficult run of February games) I will remain a glass half full person. Just need Hamer/O'Hare to come through them unscathed.

It feels alot worse when you average 200 mile round trip every game. And X£s

Morecambe away was worst i ever felt. Took about 8 hours to get home on Sunday. Stuck in snow on M6 around walsall. Wondering crying are we ever gonna get out of league 2.

Sat at home yesterday over it in about 5 mins after the game. Doesnt feel as bad.

Season in Northampton did it for me realising Saturdays could mean something different. Football was not the be all and end all. Plus the ridiculous amounts of money top teams were spending.

Always liked going to away matches as defeat was easier to cope with as football was part of a day out. At home the day seemed to just hinge on football.

Last season people must have been freaked out with how uncharacteristically happy you were all year then. "Has he been... taking something..."

Was supposed to be two changes on the train on the way home but ended up having to make about 6 due to works/staffing shortages etc. Seemed to take forever to get home.

Not the best away day.

Water off a ducks back for me these days.....the longer I go without going to a live game, the less I seem to give a shit.

Watching a BCD game alone on a laptop is a shit way to spend an evening...... I just feel so totally detached from it all.....

Worst for me was away there in the League Cup. A ‘friend’ had offered to go up on the coaches but would lift us to the Ricoh. Never showed up, ghosted the calls so I last minute bought train tickets to get there and found the ground with some Blackpool fans who were going as neutrals. Got my way onto a coach back after we lost 2-0 and never heard from the ‘friend’ again despite him owing me about £130.

Detached is a good description.
I feel like that a lot about the pub and socialising as well. Not all the time, sometimes I really miss it, but nowhere near as much as I thought I would generally.

Still get worked up over football but I've settled into the role of armchair supporter quite nicely.

Yep. I miss live gigs, the football & the pub so so much now it almost hurts.....

I tried to embrace the BCD football & the first few games were a bit of a novelty, but my kids got bored of it quickly & so I've been watching alone.....and thats frankly just a bit too depressing.

I turned off after their 2nd goal last night & put some tunes on instead.

I forgot to mention had my electric wing mirror nicked so drove home without one. What level of desperation is that. It's akin nicking a public lavatory toilet seat. Hate to think what that seaside resort is like now in these times.

Got 3 gigs later in the year which are almost guaranteed to not go ahead.

Ones in Berlin which I'm really looking forward to so that's going to hurt.

My mood swing when younger were awful when we lost/won.

As I've gotten older it ain't fuckin changed......

joking aside, I still feel it when we lose but as aluded to earlier, it's the manner in which we lose, so not too bad today as we played alright and were unlucky.

“continue”

That was the first time someone’s scored two against us at home since October.

Saw an old clip of Alex Ferguson on how he responded to defeat. It fucked him off every time so he would spend ages working out exactly why he lost, then put everything into trying to win the next one or the rematch.

I get into a foul mood over losing but reckon the best managers can channel it into productive stuff to win next time.

Used to get pissed off with every defeat and shit draw. Now i've managed to limit it to defeat against shit teams or defeat when we've played well. That still really pisses me off, as I think that's the best we've got and we still lost.

I guess a manager has a degree of control over his own and the teams destiny. All we can do as fans is say 'refs a useless prick', 'opposition were dirty fucks' or 'we played like a bunch of cunts'.
Or of course a combination of all 3.

The difference is with the likes of Sir Alex, is that he had a bench/squad full of (equivalent) £50m footballers, whereas MR has a bench with L1 quality and development players. That is why it is so important for us to stay up this season a) to improve the squad, so that it is full of Championship quality and b) so that we don't have the likes of Hamer. O'Hare et al stripped away from us (which is the bit that would upset me even more than relegation).

His book Leadership is an interesting read, albeit one with very few leadership lessons for people who aren't either complete psychopaths, or managing their own Premier League club.

My mood is so dependent on the result and performance. Every game feels like my insides go to battle. It's exhausting. If we play badly and lose or we throw it away at the end I feel like I return slouched over the back of a horse with an arrow in my back. If we win I return on a prancing horse with the villagers cheering my return!

“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

We all know who said that as a flippant and of the cuff remark aimed at the Liverpool board at the time.
You’d think on the match thread that a game of football involving Coventry City for some people is the be all and end all.
The mature amongst us know that losing on a Saturday or Tuesday night is not really that important in the grand scheme of things.
