This new strain is ripping through everywhere. Apparently much more transmissible but not as strong.
Footballers are made to test, hence why a lot are now showing as +ve.
A lot of people have given up the regular testing that they were (and possibly should still be doing as part of jobs or even sending kids to school) and still cases are higher than ever. That is the worry.
Guarantee we'll have.players not available come the next game, whenever that may be.
Gutted that Saturdays game is off, it's the thing I do with my 72 year old dad - who is generally deteriorating too.
Got his pass sorted for him and everything- got a feeling itmay be a while until we are back in the Arena seeing City.

This sort of thing doesn't help: Quarter of EFL players 'do not want jab'

Why's it so much worse than the PL rate?

The cynical part of me says it's because PL players lose more money when they have to self-isolate as close contacts
They'd only get their basic salary and miss out on appearance money and win/draw bonuses which are much smaller in the EFL

Tbf this whole, "this strain is not as bad" thing needs to stop being parroted. One very small study in South Africa said it but it's hardly rock solid. There is very little statistical data on it yet, and most key scientists have said as much. It just aids people being complacent for me. (Not aimed specifically at you!)

I don't think we could all cope with another season behind closed doors. Miss two promotion parties!

We have atleast three players who were likely to be out Saturday through injury, Hamer, JCS and Waghorne all apparently very close to being back so likely to be fit when the game is rescheduled, plus a lot on here want O’Hare to have a “rest” he’s got one now so should be fighting fit next time we play.

It’s actually prevented a big argument in our household. My wife was adamant I should not attend whereas I was just as adamant I was going.

I'd commission @Otis to write you a soap if you have the spare cash.
Struggling with a name though.
#CBSCBA is a bit BBC three. To go or not to go is more Radio 4 and likely to be taken up at present, real death of topical comedy. Get Alistair McGowan in as one of the voices and it writes itself.

If the league is cancelled, Stoke are in the play offs and if we had beat them we would have been. Conspiracy.

I get that, but also you cant ignore the amount of people that we all know on here, that are testing positive yet have whats is basically a cold and are fine again in 3 or 4 days.

I'm not tying to shit on your post, its right to be cautious, but there is also a flip side

That isn't a flip side though? How many of the people on here have Omicron? Considering hospitalisations happen 7-10 days after testing positive, how many people caught it over a week ago? I would think not many...

We simply don't know yet. I will happily be wrong on this one!

If we believe it's only been here for a couple of weeks then I'm going by the fact that's bollocks.

Remember, the original covid was here way before February 2020 reported. Tests showed it was here in November 2019

Well it's not a fact it's complete bollocks it's just something you are saying?

It's clearly only become a dominant strain in the last couple weeks/days. There may have been the odd case end of November? But given the testing of samples and the fact it was only discovered in SA (it's likely origin) on the 24th November my point stands.

As Whitty said, we still had a very high number of Delta cases alongside the rise in Omicron. Just a bit more time is needed

I'd imagine this post headline will serve for the rearranged fixture too.
I'd be very surprised if any of our next 3, 4 maybe even 5 fixtures go ahead.
