Nice for them to be at full strength for the rescheduled fixture. Spineless from EFL

So that statement from the EFL was utterly pointless

Don't get the conspiracy theories here. Their injured players, with the exception of Sawyers, have already been out for weeks & some such as Souttar are long term

Are we REALLY going to do the whole charade of "they're too scared/faking it" again? Didn't make sense when Rotherham did it last year and doesn't make sense now.

Not a conspiracy but an unavoidable fact. The rules just published today are meaningless

It's a good excuse for them though now to get a tricky away game called off.

To what end? The fixture will be rearranged for a midweek where all these players will likely still be injured anyway.

We don’t have any cases in the first team (confirmed on the statement). Can’t we play against another team that have also been let down by their opponent so it’s one less fixture to cram in down the line.

Not sure how it would work but there will likely be other teams like us sat there on Saturday when we could be playing each other.

Has it been confirmed how many of their players are unavailable, if not then there is no way of knowing if the new rule is meaningless at this point?

I reckon this is the start, Boxing Day games doubtful in my opinion as for our Cardiff game that comes under the Welsh authority and possibly different rules.

For it not to be they'd need a good 15+ players out.

Yes, as we all remember, this strategy worked wonders for Rotherham last year, who didn't suffer any problems at all as a result of all the postponements they managed to engineer.

How many games have we called off due to this virus? as far as I remember, it's other teams cancelling not us, even right back to last year. does that mean we're more careful over training and testing our players.

Doesn't work out well for us either. You'd rather have points on the board than games in hand.

But the injured players you're referring to are mostly out until February/March. What's to stop them picking up more injuries in the meantime too?

I get we're all frustrated but the conspiracy theories don't hold much weight.

So Stoke saw what Rotherham did last season and thought "Yeah, screw fixture congestion, this is the way to rack up points", before scanning the fixture list and working out which games they might want to sack off?

There is a much simpler explanation here, it's just in some people's ultra-competitive nature as fans to ignore it for a more fun narrative.

If our game against Cardiff goes ahead on boxing day, and we win it, and stoke don't play again, that will give us 1.6086 points per game to Stoke's 1.5909. They can end the season then if they want to as we will be in the playoffs.

Possibly. I know we've always been very careful on having the first team train away from the U23s & Academy (Ryton v Higgs) perhaps others aren't as prepared or simply don't have the facilities.
That's why I was a little surprised JJ, Shipley & Walker played on Tuesday.

That's a different argument & they will have to have presented their case to the EFL.

The conspiracy theory that it's because of these handful of injuries is nonsense. We're likely to have Hamer, Waghorn & JCS back before any of their lot.

I've just looked and I can't see a single u23 that has made a first team appearance. (Assuming jpt doesn't count as it's their u23 team that appears).

So given that they then have 26/27 first team players beyond that. 5 out injured that we know. Is 8/9 positive cases really far fetched if they have all been at a party? Doesn't seem like it given the numbers being seen at other clubs that high also.
