Stokes left back, Haynes left midfield and move Shipley to centre, with Doyle, if no Kelly and he doesn't fancy Stevenson?

I suspect it's a knee problem. He was in a lot of pain

More likely his left, as that's uncovered with the sock pulled down. It's also straight.

You kidding surely? Stokes has been our worst player this season.

Defensively he’s far sounder than Haynes. Involved in conceding the goal tonight and on Saturday. I know he’s been poor but he shores up that defence. Grimmer, Willis, McDonald and Stokes all day long for me.

Think it’ll be a pretty bad one. Was a fairly innocuous challenge from their player.

Just his sock and cycling shorts (or whatever he wears under his shorts) isn't it? If he's gone for an x-ray they aren't looking for anything muscular I wouldn't have thought. Thats normally MRI and not done until the next day.

Not sure if that's good or bad news. If he's broken something it could be weeks / months, if there's no break could just be a bone bruise and we're only looking at days - maybe one or two matches.

Fingers crossed.

Two points dropped tonight that game was there for the taking.
Can't fault our defence they protect Burge and block, head and mop up everything.
Burge a liability waiting to happen doesn't come for anything. Doesn't take charge of his six yard box.

That's right
The x ray will be to make sure there are no breaks
I suspect it's more likely to be a problem caused by hyper extension or similar that will need a scan to confirm
Far too early to say but best hope is that as he's so young recovery may be faster

Assuming he's out for the weekend its the FA Cup game after that so he's get over 2 weeks until the next game. With a bit of luck that will be enough. Can't afford him to be out for any length of time, we've hardly scored any goals he hasn't either scored or had an assist.

Just got back from the game. First thoughts.....it really showed how much we missed Kelly when he went off. Rod and Doyle carried the team for the rest of the first half. After 30 mins and well into the second half, they were the better side until the game became a bit more open towards the end. Let's hope LK isn't out too long as on tonight's evidence Shipley, Maycock and Vincenti is a weak midfield alongside Doyle.

I don't get the constant clamour for Haynes to be fitted into the team by pushing him up to left midfield. Let's just get rid of him once and for all. He's been hanging around for too long and clearly hasn't got it.

Yes he struggled tonight and wasn't great Saturday either. It didn't help that Shipley and Maycock were poor too, and that Jones was quiet before going off. Thanks to Andreu's injury and our lack of a spare winger, we're short of options and there remains a long season ahead.

McNulty's problem lies with the shape of the team. Because of the two holding midfielders he comes deep to try and get the ball as that's where the space is, this leaves him to far from goal to have any impact as defenders have time to close while also meaning Biamou's knock downs go to nobody. If our midfield, or just one of them, were 10 yards further forward then he would pick the ball up closer to the edge of the box meaning he could turn and get a shot away easier or take on balls from Biamou.

His stats work out at 1 goal for just over 270 minutes played, there are goals in him we just need to get the ball to him in the right areas.

Surprised about the praise McNulty is getting tonight. Some of his efforts from the edge of the box are so poor. That one he fired over in the second half summed it up.

He was better today than previous, but I don't think he'll get more than 10 goals from play.

Because we've no one else and the windows closed so you gotta make do with the players at your disposal till January.

Take JJ out the side and you've no ball carrier in the midfield and we are quite predictable. At least pushing Haynes up into a advanced role you'd have pace both sides and a willingness to beat your man to whip a cross/shot in.

We might need him more than ever if JJ's injury is serious.

I’m surprised he’s getting so much stick, he scored and linked up play. Him and Ponta have easily been our best comination upfront this season.

There is no doubt Nazon, Jones and Kelly are crucial to our side.
Kelly is composed and has an air of control over proceedings.
Nazon and Jones's level is well above this league and at times they are thinking on the same level.
They will score goals all season long and create plenty as the season plays out and will put us in the promotion hunt.

Just woke up and read the match thread, seemed to be well on top until the kelly injury not sure wht Robibs didnt play Vincenti there he obviously doesnt rate him so get rid come the Jan sales, bad news about Jones hope its just precautionary he is our Jewel so far this season. Where is Beavon? Is he injured or another one in the bomb squad? If kelly and Jones are out we need someone to take their chance although I cannot see anyone being either ready or good enough at present. I guess under the circumstances a draw wasnt the worst result but sounds like the game was there for the taking... well done for our strong away support once again looks like a mix and match side will be out for Saturday

I just hope Robins doesn't try and shoehorn our fit players into that system. It only worked because of Jones and Kelly.

For me he has to go either a 4-3-3:

******Burge********
Willis Davies McDonald Haynes
** Vincenti Doyle Shipley**
McNulty Biamou Duck

Or a 3-5-2:

**********Burge***********
****Willis Davies McDonald****
Grimmer ************ Haynes
******Doyle*******
****Vincenti***Shipley****
**** Biamou Duck or McNulty****

And neither fill me with much excitement with no Andreu, Kelly or Jones in there.

Definitely 3 5 2
But not with Vincenti in the team

Apart from the Duck mate he is the only one I see as having the potential to actually score.
I know McNulty did it last night, but I see him more as s creative player.
He also hassle the hell out of defences forcing them into painc clearances giving us back possession.
Robins said it himsrjfctgeir was tiredness out there tonight.
The moment they equalised or when we list Jones after already losing Kelly.
We needed to put that pressure on their back line as they were starting to dominate possession and it was all coming from their.
I genuinely don’t know if Ponti can do the business or not.
However last night he would I believed he would had been more use than Vincenti.

Your ability to ignore facts that don't suit your argument is laughable. 2 weeks ago you were saying that Robins knows he's made a mistake on McNulty, that we've just got to ride it out til Jan and now he's started scoring he's a hard working creative player. He's a decent L2 striker who we're not getting the best out of with our tactics. Just admit you got Ponticelli on the back of your shirt and with that many letters it was a big investment and you want your money's worth!

If another manager walked into this club tomorrow he would ask why the fuck this guy has been asked to play glued to the right touchline while a keeper who can't kick for shit has mis-fired balls at his head all game. Needs a run of games more central to prove his worth.

Maybe the time to give him a go in central midfield. you know, the position he played when he won player of the month for Rochdale

It's the chances that he throws away which is the problem. He scores 1 in 6 chances.

Your inability to read my posts is even more laughable.
Have a look back I have always said that McNulty isn’t a bad player.
He just isn’t a natural finisher.
I have always said that MR made a mistake signing him. As he didn’t sign to be the side to the main striker.
He signed him as his 20 goal plus man.
Which quite clearly isn’t going to happen. So yes Robins has made a big mistake abd I would hazard a gues that McNulty is one of our better paid players.
I would just put ‘Ponti’ on the back of my shirt. Far to tight to pay out for all of that.
Not sure if Ponti is the answer if he isn’t then the answer beeds to be signed in January.
I wanted Ponti on yesterday as once we lost kelly then Jones we needed put pressure of their defenders as that was where they were building their play from, once they started dominating possession.
As Robins himself said people were looking jaded.
Whatever Ponti’s faults are he would have harassed those defenders forcing them to play panicky long balls giving us possession back.
Unfortunately instead it was us panicking and passing back to Burge then giving them possession far too cheaply

According to Grendel every striker needs 6 good chances before they score a goal.

60% of those goals came playing for Livingston in the Scottish lower leagues between 2009-2014.
He scored 41 goals in 96 games

In his 96 games in the English leagues from 2014 to the present day he has only scored 23 goals.
So in reality in a comparable situation to how he at Coventry and how his recent form the last 3 years has been. He is a goal every 4 games man. So just over 10 goals in a season.
We need better than that from the man signed to be our main man.
Robins will fix it in January.

But MR said he's a 20+ man..... let's hope it's a 80 game season.

I'm pretty sure his best spell in Scotland came playing off a big man in a 442 in a more predator role

I think the January transfer window may of just got complicated if JJ injury is severe.
I can see a influx of loans arriving hopefully.
