Not very nice rumours coming out of Merseyside reference Steven Gerrard's health. I hope what I have heard is wide of the mark !!

What have you heard? All I know is he has an infection in his groin and has to stay in hospital on a course of anti-biotics?

Liverpool's hopes of making a strong start in their effort to regain a Champions League place next season have been set back after Steven Gerrard was ruled out until September due to an infection related to his groin injury.

Liverpool's captain has not played since the 3-1 win over Manchester United at Anfield on 6 March, but had been expected to recover in time for the club's first Premier League game. However, the club have revealed that Gerrard is now undergoing a course of antibiotic treatment in hospital, where he will remain "for several days".

Yeah, that's all I'd heard too. When I heard it I thought maybe he'd been a naughty boy but this actually sounds pretty serious?

There were reports today saying that it might not just be an infection in his groin, but a blood infection. Whether or not there is any truth in it, I hope not anyway!

Don't like to say, but if i said Bobby Moore, there's a clue.

If my memoy serves me, Bobby Moroe suffered from cancer (colon cancer?).
Hopefully SG really is just having an infection.

That rumour is like wildfire in Liverpool, whether there is refernces to it on any of their various websites i don't know and maybe the moderators on these sites are keeping them off. Just stories like this tend to have legs, lets all hope not. It will bubble away for a while and the silence can be deafening.

I heard rumours coming out of the Liverpool training ground (Mellwood?) that his career was at best in the balance, and at worst over.

Before the last world Cup there was a very emminent hip surgeon who hinted that there was a very high profile England player about to possibly undergoe a new surgical technique with the hope of being fit for the World Cup. No names were mentioned but it seemed fairly obvious at the time.

If he has .......? It will have been known a long time an the best treatment assured. He certainly missed a lot of matches last season for niggly injuries.

I was in the company of Franny Jeffers a couple of weeks back, he is pals with Gerrard. When I asked what the latest was with regard to Gerrard, this was his reply "he will never play again, he's finished". It was hard to believe at the time but it makes more sense now I have read your post.
