How much did Sisu offer for the stadium?

I have to say the council should absolutely have given the stadium to the club when it was built. We might have actually had a chance at attracting decent owners and making the PL then. The money generated for a city having a club in the PL is obscene. The below says that Swansea generated £58m for the local economy in the first year of premier league football alone. They've been there for 5 years now. Our council have always viewed CCFC as a way of making some extra cash. One positive to come out of sisu, once they finally leave, is that the council will hopefully not treat the club with such contempt as they won't want to go through it all again.

You are if you think that people would be happier with an empty stadium and the council in debt. The judge said that the stadium with a tennent is worth more than any empty stadium.

If our council really viewed CCFC as a way of making cash they would have backed us more at the beginning as you suggest.

Yes, they would be in the wrong. Doesn't alter the fact that the whole dispute was started in attempt to recover some of the loss caused by a mistaken investment by SISU. The council would be questioned if they have made a mistake, but nobody would be applauding Joy. CCFC would still be in league 2 and the council tax payers would not be happy. Tax payers would be upset whether it was CCFC wasting money or other people wasting their money. I just hope Joy trades in her JR2 card against reopening negotiations on a sensible basis. A goodwill gesture to get all parties to the table.

I do. Hence the word "hope". I have been hoping for years that we get a solution - I just don't want to give up ....

And we all know you will vanish when there is talk of football. Strange, you appear again and haven't bothered to even look at last night's match thread.

No at all concerned that is was being reported as a close vote until the councillors met with Wasps in secret, a meeting at which no minutes or any record whatsoever were kept, and came out of said meeting voting unanimously to sell ACL at a loss.

What would you like to know great result.
Probably not in the style a lot of the usual whingers would like. Myself i respect a defensive display. Robins has to play a style/system which suits the players at his disposal to get results.

I believe they offered more than Wasps for the Higgs 50%. They were never given the opportunity to bid on the council's 50% on similar terms to Wasps.

But ACL was doing just fine without CCFC. I distinctly recall the likes of Ann Lucas and PWKH telling us that at every available opportunely.

So Joy didn't say stadium was worthless and when offered to make a bid declined?

Why would they do that after taking legal advice? I suspect the advice was to take it as it was the best option at the time.

Probably not. Have you ever sold a car? Would you get more if you said " it's a great runner" than if you said "it's fxxked actually"?

He says the position hasn't changed. Their position was that they were in talks with CCFC, talks that both sides described as positive. They then pulled out of talks citing the legal action SISU were taking.

Elaborating on whether or not Wasps would be willing to take part in mediation as the club looks to secure a long term home, Mr Eastwood said: “Our position remains the same – we would like Coventry City to remain at the Ricoh Arena and are willing to listen if they do make an approach to discuss options.

“That is not, as far as we are concerned, an issue which requires mediation as we are open to an approach.”

A lip service bid from Sisu for gullible fans like you after half the stadium had already been sold to Wasps!
I can tell by your posts you genuinely believe Sisu have been hard done by, but your a clown if you think that was a genuine bid.
Even when they made the bid they said they was still going to build a new stadium!
Three years on where is this stadium, what have Sisu done towards it?
One minute they are in court saying the Ricoh is worthless then they are in court saying it was under sold!
How can anyone take anything Sisu say seriously?

I've no doubt they do but they key is what deal they want. For all we know they're saying £1m a year for 50 years with no break clause. Would be an absolute non starter.

Any deal has to have regular break clauses, say every 5 years, rent no higher than we pay now and fair access to revenues. Does anyone believe Wasps will offer something like that?

Nobody believes it would be 1m and 50 years without a break clause either.

Just because sisu didn't make an offer, (if they didn't), doesn't mean people are happy is was sold to wasps at a loss.

Many people want it to be believed that Wasps are in the driving seat because of SISU's bad negotiating policy. The reality of that is that we have to deal with Wasps whether they are good or bad if we want to play at the Ricoh - a stadium built for CCFC. Pathetic.

Statement from CRFC
Program notes about where we are playing next season from Boddy, although it was a long winded way of saying we do not have a clue either.

Maybe that the FL have said something to the CCFC, probably their representative at that recent meeting. As not one mention of moving out the city has been mentioned or threatened the FL might have actually grown a pair of bollocks, or the club are worried about protests and fan discontent.

You are correct Dave. SISU did make a slightly higher offer than Wasps, but were with conditions. Wasps offer was unconditional.

Assistance doesn't necessarily mean monetary. Anyone who seriously thinks the legal action is in anyway impacting on the day to day operation of a local council with £95m reserves is crazy.

The only possible way the council will have to make a substantial payout is if they are found to be in the wrong. That would mean the local council have undertaken a course of action they are not permitted to that has done severe damage to the football club. And even then it is more likely to be paid via insurance or central government.

The council - who represent all of Coventry and were elected by the people of Coventry to do that. Plus I take if for granted- unless you can show otherwise- that most of Coventry accepted the council's position- there have been no campaigns or marches against the council selling to Wasps. Yes, we are pissed off, but apart from waiting for SISU to come back - them having said that they weren't going to - there weren't any other obvious solutions to the problem.
