Statement signings if we go up? (26 Viewers)

To be fair, suggesting some players who are currently on probably £100k a week (Mount etc) is pointless, as it's never going to happen. That's why I think the European leagues, where wages are a lot less, is the logical way to go.
We need a certain amount of homegrown players. We can't just stack with overseas signings.

Not the usual type of striker we have. He's only 5"11 isnt he
I think you're right but he looked good with his head from what i saw. The word powerful is a bit generic but i guess it works here. I enjoyed the shooting stats from last season...

Also did very well in Belgium which isn't a mugs league.

Understand that, which is where we will have to look for players not currently on big wages - likely fringe PL players with potential, who want game time, or top end Championship players who we think can step up. Watford have one or two decent forwards with potential, as an example. Just need to be sensible, and make sure that we have the right blend of characters, as well as having ability. Easier said, than done.

How many do we see coming in and out thr club in the summer. Part of me is apprehensive to have a full clear out as feel our consistency has played a large role in where we are.

Id like to see Jack Grealish, a move back to the midlands and be a cult hero here.

Two teams who've overperformed this season are Brentford & Sunderland. Both signed an experienced CM who has played at the top of the division (Henderson / Xhaka) but on the decline

A signing like that would do us a world of good

For strikers I'd like to see Troy Parrott or Mika Biereth.

I don't know, and can't predict FL thinking regarding targets but I think he will see the current squad of being the 'core' of the squad and add a few additions to it with the spine of the team. If Rushworth is doable then of course he will be a good permenant addition but we need a commanding centre back, Frank the tank in midfield and two wide men. FL likes the lad at Saints so I think he will be one and he may get an addition with a season long loan, but it's a centreback that I think he needs most. If Bidders were 5 or 10 years younger FL would probably build around him but someone in the Dunk/Mcguire mold.

Do people seriously think Peck would be good enough as a signing for us in the premier league? He wouldnt even get in ahead of Eccles and Torp let alone Grimes and Onyeka, we need much better than that. As far as statement midfielder signings go Peck is not it.

Peck and Hackney are both ready for the step up in my opinion . Peck in the last game against the blunts was very good .
I predict both will be playing premier league football next season

Watched some YouTube video last night about "championship team of the year" and it was the most biased trash I think I've ever watched. Put Peck in top 3 midfielders in the league this year, it was barmy

Edit:

Frank will end up trying to get dele alli playing again 💁‍♂️
I might sound insane, but if he's happy enough to be a rotation player and take a hit in wages, I'd take him.

If Frank can get him anywhere near back to his best we have a solid player.
And in reality, we're not going to be able to attract the type of players some people are suggesting.. Mason Mount? Would be incredible but it's just not happening is it.

In all honesty I really want Doug to allow FL to use his influence and bring in 3 or 4 class internationals from Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern or Arsenal, Chelsea or the like on a year's loan deal with a view to buy.

This was unwatchable shite. I'd advise anyone not to bother.

The problem is likely to be wages. If you’re bringing in players on 100k+ a week, there’s going to be a massive divide in the dressing room, and that will be a team spirit problem.
I’d expect us to look for value in the lower reaches of Bundesliga/ligue 1/primera division, or champ players who *might* make the step up like Hughes, Azeez or Scienza.

There’s one other possibility to consider of course - Doug sells up. The club’s likely to be at peak value in the summer.
