Statement signings if we go up? (27 Viewers)

We will need at least four with substantial or decent Premier League experience.

Bringing in players from Europe may mean it takes too long for them to settle. Especially as the first season up is probably the hardest to stay up.
We need 8 homegrown players in the 25 man squad, too. So we can't just go out into the European Market as some seem to be suggesting.

We'll get one experienced Prem player, we'll pull 2 players from the Championship just to troll the clubs we're leaving behind and i'll be so there for it, then we'll get the rest from abroad. Bookmark it.

Onyeka - Obligation
Rushworth or Trafford on loan if Rushworth stays at Brighton, Nick Pope out of contract
Ben Chillwell
Ryan Sessengnon - Apparently out of contract
Adam Webster/Ben Davies - Both out of contract
Might be pushing the realism - Raul Jiminez, Adama Traore?

I think Trafford you could sign permenantly, although Im not a fan. The Ramsdale shout is better
Sessengnon I'm assuming will sign another contract as hes played a lot for Fulham this year
Webster would be a decent signing.

Return of the Yok. For a fraction of the price Arsenal paid.

Some of the names quoted are insane!

If we go up we are very likely going to struggle all season, I don't see us doing a Sunderland

Onyeka is guaranteed to join if we go up as that is part of the loan deal. We will be in the market for players of his ilk, players that have played in the Prem for mid-lower half teams and then have been pushed out due to them getting better year on year

It's likely that other than one or two we will have never heard of the players we will sign

Weren't we supposed to looking at Eric Martel in January, the former German U21 captain who's at Cologne?

I'm sure he was mentioned on here in the transfer thread.

My two takes from this thread are thank god some people are not on the recruitment team and some people have unrealistic expectations of who we are going to sign if we go up

Not exactly a statement signing, but Jake Cooper of Millwall would be worth a go assuming Millwall don't get promoted.

Name some good realistic players then
I don't know as it is not my job, if I knew all the answers I would be working for the club

But people suggesting players like Loftus-Cheek and Harry Wilson are in for a major bump back down to earth

And people suggesting Sydie Peck and Jordan James like they are any more than half decent second division players don't realise the jump in level that is on the horizon

Thought not.

Wages on some of these suggestions are obscene for what you're getting. Would hope the scouts have it in hand, maybe a few Onyeka types, players on the fringes with experience at sides like Brentford, Bournemouth, Villa etc that could offer us a decent spine, along with a few foreign talents to compliment what we already have. Don't go too mad but give ourselves a chance and a strong squad long term should we drop down

The position you finish in the Prem is a direct reflection on the wages you spend. I would like to see who gets relegated first to see if there are any cherries to pick from, average wage for the top parachute championship teams is 30 to 40k that goes up to 60 to 72 in the premier league plus transfer fees. I doubt DK has the financial clout with out co investment to go balls in if were promoted. The one player I would like to see back would be Madders but the wages would make that impossible.

Just wishful thinking I said ac99, I don't doubt for one minute the likes of Wilson et al would be snapped up by bigger and better clubs but there's no harm in dreaming.

I would say some players step up who you don't really expect. Zian Flemming has been good in a honking Burnley side. I thought he was good at Champ level but didn't really see him as Prem ready at all.

To be fair, suggesting some players who are currently on probably £100k a week (Mount etc) is pointless, as it's never going to happen. That's why I think the European leagues, where wages are a lot less, is the logical way to go.
