Believe it's 12,000 all standing. Grennan sold out 10,000 tickets but it was nowhere near as full in there compared to other venues you'd go.

Now we own the place, the club should start giving points when you visit the casino or a gig.

Even better, give points for each pint you purchase.

with the club and stadium never having been one thing, it doesn't make sense to me that anyone would point to the stadium in isolation failing to make money in the past as a reason this won't work.

ticket sales, exhibition hall use, F&B, hospitality, concerts and events in the bowl, rent from the casino etc. all flowing to the club for the first time. Has to be something we judge after a year or two's results, no?

Definitely, for the first time it's the key focus of the people running it which will make a huge difference. The council didn't have the experts or time to make a proper go of it, Wasps was a doomed project from day one and I get the feeling Frasers probably always planned to flip it quite quickly.

Not sure where this idea that a stadium should be profit making has really come from. How many clubs end up with a profit from owning their stadium?

One way or another a stadium is likely to be a cost, be it rent or maintenance. If the other parts of the stadium business means that cost is lower than it otherwise have been that's a win for me. Doesn't necessarily have to be in profit.

I think you are right and its something a few feel strongly about, the stadium would benefit greatly from improved transport links.
@Sky Blue Pete i will bring this up again when the time is right but this is something that really needs bringing up with King at your next gathering to see if he's having any conversations with the local politicians about this. We know that gimp at Blues wedged his nose into the arse of every local politician going to get his way, you can make the words nicer if you like but it would be good to know if King is doing the same.

Yeah, it's an asset. You'd hope no one's expecting that we'll magically stop losing money each season, just that if we manage it well we should lose a bit less, and have an asset tied to the club which means we've got a stable home and we're worth a bit more to whoever owns us.

Must have been in local conversations over the last two 3yrs, can't see it changing now but it's like a sloth moving in reality.

I'm sure but it would be good to see King actively pushing it, I'm sure with all the good will at the moment he could gather a lot of public support which never hurts when leaning on politicians.

How many stadiums have what ours has? It isn't just a football pitch surrounded by seats.

It doesn't even need to make a profit as long as it doesn't make a loss more than what the rent would cost if we hadn't bought it. But now every penny made belongs to us we can make plans on how to make more out of it instead of making money for someone else.

King seems to think its something other clubs wish they had. If it ran and marketed properly they could make a lot of additional revenues on top of the existing football ones.

What's the deal with Casino, lost track of who is in there at the moment. I assume it's just rent we get from that?

Far from a money maker but reminds me of the early to mid 2000s when you could get 2 match tickets, a night in the room in the converted boxes overlooking the pitch. Breakfast and free drink in the casino at massive discount. I'm pretty sure it was £50

From a quick Google search, in August 2019 Grosvenor casino signed a new 10 year lease to remain at the Arena.

No idea on how that agreement works in terms of if it is just rental income (fixed or variable), or if there is some sort of revenue share arrangement too.

What would make mega money is if we got to the PL and you provided a hotel room overlooking the pitch for a match. I know most are boxes during matches now but you could easily charge £1000 for a night in the hotel, 3 course meal and a view overlooking the pitch. It would be a real unique package in the PL and something international tourists wouldn't bat an eyelid at paying thousands.

It is. Look at the plans for the Birmingham stadium. They building something with amenities we already have.

The interesting part of the new Birmingham stadium is the location. Plenty new stadiums have been built in deprived areas like Tottenham and Man City but the area around their new stadium makes those look like Hampstead Heath.

And a casino.

Where did the word 'unique' come from? How many other grounds have the same?

It's the British disease. Everyone knows there is a problem, solutions should be simple and realistic but never get addressed in a reasonable timescale. See HS2, Nuclear power, infrastructure for wind farms.

Wasn't the next home game (Yeovil?) about 20,000 down on the Gillingham game?
The same people will no doubt be responsible for multiple crush tragedies at Bob Vylan's forthcoming UK dates.

Yep 11,000. It was so, so depressing considering how brilliant the Gillingham game was.

Could we effectively have a mortgage from Frasers to buy the stadium? In other words we take ownership and pay them (plus interest) over an agreed period of time? I don't think anything precludes that and we do know that there's a charge to someone.

I think this is the most likely considering the estate company which has a company charge on the CBS arena company is owned by Frasers.

and King said in the Q&A video that the Frasers' branding is to stay for a "period of time." It's perhaps beginning to look like they've structured the deal between themselves.

the rumour going round today is that he wants the Higgs. And when he's got it wants to upgrade the facilities to cat 1 including a stand and floodlights so the U23s can play in front of a crowd.

Really? Where's that from?

I can't see how the first team could move there so not sure what sense it makes to build a stand at the higgs.

Longer term, we may want to consider the Wasps/Birmingham training ground.

Blues were planning to move back to their old Wast Hills training ground next year but it looks like they will be remaining in Henley in Arden until their 'Sports Quarter' is built.
