It's a valid assumption, though one I slightly disagree with, I think he may well be here a bit longer.
But he's a businessman and this is a business venture, he's in it to make money. And if he does that while leaving us in a better position than when he arrived then everyone's a winner

Emotional. What fantastic news. Fuck the transfer business, this usurps anything else.

Northampton, Birmingham, Burton. Fines, point deductions, missing out on revenue - no more. I think if anyone still had any lingering doubts in Doug, this should be the final nail in that coffin. I can’t be at the CBS today but I hope everyone who is takes the roof off regardless of the result.

The Council, ACL, SISU, WASPS your boys took one hell of the beating.

He’s right though. For me the stadium was the last piece in the puzzle. Not much point owning until you’re ready to sell.

I’d even say it’ll be quicker than a few years

I still can't quite believe today has actually happened. There can't be many days in our clubs history where so much has fallen into place at the same time. Owning the arena, putting in a dominant display to win 7-1. I'm not sure it's all really sunk in yet!

Wow. Never thought I’d see the day. Genuinely shocked and thrilled and feel like finally we can put the last fifteen years of shite behind us. Love the symmetry of battering derby in our last game at HR and our last game without a stadium of our own twenty years later. We should invite them back in twenty years for a testimonial hammering.

Blimey the QPR link was obvious but didn’t click on to the symmetry with Derby too!

Wonder if he will plan to open the halls for fan zones every week? If the club gets the money then the more beer and food the better?

Good idea especially in the winter months.

I agree mate, seems almost like a dream... particularly to be 5-0 up at half time! Wow, quality performance from the lads today. Credit to everyone involved at the club. Onwards and upwards. PUSB.

So I think we’ve paid £30m for the stadium.

Mike paid £17m and Doug offered £25m back then. Money has been spent of the complex by Frasers. So Frasers doubled this investment approx…

It's still very cheap really, especially if we're paying £1.5m in rent.

I’m taking a guess here based on Doug’s interview earlier. Who knows… but it’s a significant investment from us.

Those dark days of SISU, shite hangers on sitting in the dug out, text for a sub at half time, sad messages on here of the club moving out of the stadium offices , Cov Council allegiances, Sixfields, fans falling out, Div 4 football, Rugby graphics all over stadium, St Andrews , shite pitch ….are now far behind us

For someone who portrays themselves as intelligent (never a good sign that) you are unbelievably stupid.

The club wasn’t worth 1 pence yesterday as it had zero asset value - overnight it’s worth millions. It has income streams and external potential investment it’s never had in its history.

The fact you can’t see that says it all.

Doug in his interview after the game went on to say we now have an Arena that other clubs would die for i.e Stadium, Hotel, indoor multifunction Arena and Casino.

Long live the King.

They should keep all the food kiosks and bars inside the ground open for an hour after the game - saves people sitting in traffic as everyone leaves at the same time. They would’ve taken a fair few quid today after the game if they had stayed open!!

Always remember my parents using the outdated name of "The Economic" to refer to the Cov Building Society.

Not sure it should be revived. The "EBS" sounds like a bowel related medical condition. I don't want our ground to be linked to that.

This is fantastic news. Never saw this coming.
So I'm assuming it's the lease for 150 years or whatever it was? If so then that comes with the ownership of the 'whole' stadium complex including casino etc. I expect the hotel is leased out, so assume wecontrol that and earn from it. The casino maybe leased too and the exibit halls I will assume will be an asset we also control to rent out.
A full repairing and insuring lease will mean the upkeep is on us, but the potential increase in business avenues, and I also assume car parking facilities?.... will be huge.
I would like to see what the details are exactly, and whether we bought it lock, stock, and barrel so to speak.

Either way the football clubs value has now changed over night!
Curious as to why now from Mike Ashley?

Great stuff though, and a promotion to go with it would be the icing on the cake.

Doug King has confirmed in his interview after the game he has bought lock stock and barrel.

What we've got to remember is that the Arena has been underinvested in for a long time. Frasers have done a decent job tbf, but there's still loads to do to improve it. It'll take time - probably a few years - before it's really functioning fully.

Can't wait for the Facebook posts slagging Doug off for not fixing the wifi or replacing the Frasers Plus signs on the seats in the dugout by the end of next week.

We left probably twenty five’s minutes after the final whistle and it was really busy, it’s been a hell of a day I never went to bed last night thinking this day would have happened.
