Stadium Forum Meeting (1 Viewer)

Got this email yesterday:

Dear Sixfields Superfan (didn't really say that!)

I am sure you will have already read that I recently became the chair of the CCFC Stadium Forum.

The team working up plans for a new stadium for the club revealed the early impressions of what a new ground will look like just before Christmas and the purpose of the forum is to ensure the club’s tradition and history is imprinted on the new venue.

I have already met and chatted with lots of supporters since taking up my role, but we now want to meet with Sky Blues fans formally to make sure that all views are taken into account.

I know that everyone wants the club back in the Coventry area as soon as possible, and our only role is to ensure that when that happens, it will be coming to a home which reflects both the tradition and the ambition of the club.

We want to take supporters’ views and then translate them into a series of practical and workable recommendations for the owners of the club and their architects.

The first forum, which is open to Season Ticket holders and Corporate Season Ticket holders only, will take place on Thursday, January 9 at the Village Hotel at Coventry Business Park, off the A45, in Coventry. This is not a committee meeting but a chance for fans to input their thoughts on the new ground and also, if they so desire, to put themselves forward to become part of the committee going forward.

Eventually, that committee will be made up of a range of fans with a range of views – including Season Ticket holders, non Season Ticket holders and corporates.

This first event will start at 7.30pm but I would advise that you arrive no later than 7pm and it is imperative that you register by emailing [email protected] to gain admission. Only those who have registered in advance will be able to attend.

I do look forward to seeing you and working with you over the coming weeks and months to make sure the supporters have as big a say as possible in the club’s home.

True. You'll never see that in black and white though. I'd bet my left nut on it.

In life you don't always get what you want.

We want our stadium IN Coventry, not in the Coventry area. Anything shirt if that is another SISU failing.

Secondly, it's despicable that this forum is only open to the SISU apologists that have compromised their principles for 90 minutes of football every other Sunday.

How the hell are you going to get the broad opinion from City fans if you only invite the 'yes' men?

Well here is the opinion of a long standing Coventry fan who won't be getting a season ticket, won't be joining you at sixfields or any other 'home' ground OUTSIDE Coventry.

You can shove your new stadium.

need to tell SISU that aswell then ;)

I wish I had the opportunity to tell them something in particular...

"reflects both the tradition and the ambition of the club. "
Does club mean owners or fans. I don't think fans feel 12000 is enough for an an ambitious Coventry.

However, if it is stuck in the middle of nowhere outside the city, probably too big.

You would have to take a leap of faith to attend this meeting with those criteria.

I suppose we could put up pictures of the Ricoh and the 1987 Fa Cup final all over the new stadium.

May I also suggest sky blue curtains in the 'big' room and perhaps dark blue in the other room.

I'd go for a Sony projector in the conference marquee as they work better in damp conditions.

Perhaps a chalk board for names of who is next in the shower.

Need to stop as I have 100's of ideas. But will let others come up with further great ideas.

As as Season Ticket holder I will be attending. I do agree this has been badly handled and should have been a first come fist served meeting rather than ST holders first.

I think most of the ST holders there will make that point and continue to make the point that a return to the Ricoh is what we want but we have to face the once unbelievable possibility that may never happen.

Will report back here Friday on how credible the new stadium plans are. Up to you whether you believe me or not but it will be a genuine opinion.

I dont have any issues with ST holders first. That is the way it would be anywhere surely?

In a "normal" world yes, but there are so few season ticket holders this season, its not much of a cross section - also if the dates of the "open" meeting had been published at the same time and how you might apply then this would make more sense. Its a bit needlesly divisive and whether this is intentional or not, it still feels wrong. There. said it.

what does it mean 'non season ticket holders' on the face of it this would mean any city supporter but, i would suggest, this could mean members, or those who have purchased tickets for sixfields. if the lady concerned is anything like the double talking people that have been involved with the whole debacle then i tend to think that the "stay aways" will never getting a look in.

This attention seeking fool Sandra Garlick has nailed her flag to the wrong mast. She's just being used by Fisher and Co to pump out their poisonous piffle to the mini minority of sycophants who haven't been able to resist. Its bullshit, immoral and disgusting !

I don't know much about Sandra Garlick, but I think it's fair to say that we houldn't treat Ms Garlick like a Sisu employee, after all she is a City fan just like the rest of us.

Maybe she thought she might be able to have more influence on a move back home by being Chair of the Committee?

the most pointless meeting since hitler and chamberlin

A meeting about 'a stadium that will never be built on land that will never be bought by owners that will never be trusted again'. I almost wonder why anyone is bothering to discuss this fictional issue let alone attend this joke forum.

Was half expecting them to inform you that the meeting will be taking place in one of two locations in the 'Coventry area'.

I like your optimism but SISU don't look beyond their own noses and its all a farce anyway. She would be better off pulling out unless they drop that phrase ' Near to Coventry' if you ask me.

Of course there are always myopic people like yourselves who should never be allowed to spout off in a public forum. I think they should have a special meeting for you to see who can shout everyone down the most.

Hang on. Have we all missed the obvious?

Torchy is a ST holder?

Ask some questions like these and watch her tense up and be unable to answer them.

1) Why have a forum when no land has been purchased?

2) Why are SISU even thinking of a new stadium when most fans have indicated it needs to be IN Coventry?

3) what makes them think the fanbase will be there having spent 5 years in Northampton?

Can we have a ground with 4 stands and not a sh*tty bowl that looks like many other grounds, just with different colour seats?

Just saying....
