its actually a lot closer for me and to be honest i am totally torn. i think MR in in the process of putting a really good team together that could challenge, and on a good pitch we could play some really nice football, i dont want to miss that, however, its not Coventry and its not right.

one way that could hopefully draw a crowd now is if SISU went for it and threw money at the team to draw excitement

Of course I don’t. I’ve supported this club for over 25 years, spent endless money following the team up and down the country but enough is enough.

As I said this is bigger than showing support to the team, something drastic needs to happen to show were not just rolling over and letting SISU, wasps whoever is responsible for this big mess win!

Total boycott sends a message to out to everybody that this is not acceptable and things need to be put in place to return the club to the city

I am sure Wasps are shitting themselves at the thought of CCFC being boycotted.

It's almost as if that would play into their hands.

why? Is it better to carry on with this shit year after year with one year extensions... or now maybe the club will be forced to actually follow through with the new stadium

Wonder if the club could put on official screenings of the ifollow feed somewhere in Coventry. Would be an option for those who genuinely can't attend to still get together, support the club and help financially.

They might as well pack their bags and bugger off back to London then because there’s not a chance they will get any sort of fan base from Coventry if that happens.

This process has been as frustrating for us, as it has been desperately sad for Coventry City supporters, and as damaging as it is to the city as a whole.

As everyone is aware, we made it a pre-requisite of talks that the owners would stop pursuing proceedings around the ownership of the Ricoh Arena. We understood the owners shared that desire based on the letter it sent to us.

Talks began in April and we entered those discussions in good faith. Since then we have been working to get that deal over the line and we did not halt discussions even when it emerged that the owners had filed a complaint to the European Commission as far back as February but not informed us of that.

Despite significant progress being made in the discussions, we have unfortunately been unable to reach an agreement with the owners which, putting aside the complaint to the European Commission, would deliver the fundamental principle that there would be no further proceedings about the ownership of the Ricoh Arena.

We have talked to Coventry City supporters groups to underline our position and our desire to keep the club at Ricoh Arena. We would be prepared to continue discussions at any time if the owners are prepared to agree to the principle on which we began these discussions.

The club wanted to stay at Ricoh Arena, we wanted them to remain here and all supporters’ groups wanted to secure their future here. This is a very sad day for Coventry.

Hold up, Wasps are saying they didn't halt discussions now?

Which fans groups have they spoken to?

Why are they talking on behalf of Coventry?

My feelings:-

SISU – they blew the future of CCFC many years ago by dropping the offer for the Higgs share to £2 million, a catastrophic strategic error. They were used to playing hardball in a purely commercial environment, and had no political nous whatsoever. It has cost us everything, and I really don’t think these continuing legal actions will ever pay us back.

The Council – their hardline approach continues to damage the football club, but I wasn’t too surprised about bringing Wasps in because the Council couldn’t afford to be held over a barrel by SISU as the only game in town.

Wasps – not fussed about rugby or about them. They hadn’t been a proper London club for at least a decade before they came. I really hoped that the rugby franchise would make the Ricoh more viable, potentially making the whole package (stadium, football club, rugby club) attractive to some billionaire.

Where we are now - in the worst kind of deadlock. Two clubs (or at least their slimy owners) laden with huge debts battling out to the death, to see who goes bankrupt first. It’s not as if this can be resolved quickly, because SISU lit the European fuse knowing it would burn for years and couldn't be extinguished. I can’t see even a billionaire touching either club with a bargepole, and SISU’s “alternative stadium plans” are pie in the sky.

I would just say to Wasps – YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO CCFC! There’s a European investigation under way, and you’re saying that if it finds one of your past dealings was against the rules, you want a third party to indemnify you against the consequences? Get real, and accept that you are now at the mercy of the Eurocrats. And even after that’s over, you’ll still be stuck with Joy Sepalla trying every trick in the book for many years to come. So in the meantime, the only honourable course (and the only way to save any reputation in the city) is to let CCFC play at the Ricoh on fair terms.

Will I watch home games in Birmingham? Can’t say at the moment, I’m too conflicted.

Unfortunately, very unfortunately, they already have a fan base from the surrounding area, those who don't care about football at all and they won't care about CCFC doing bust either.

They will when in part they are potentially the reason the club could become non existent.

I’m sure the population of Coventry will be rushing down to their nice 32k seater stadium to watch them play. Wonder how long they will last with less than 10k fans In attendance

Wasps won't give a shit if people boycott CCFC, that is exactly what they want to happen.

Do you really not realise that?

"Yeah we will show Wasps, let's boycott our football club"

They've stitched Gilbert up a treat there.

Fans groups will be PSB and maybe the Trust from when they went up and gave them a round of applause. Great work from our own fans groups allowing Wasps to use them as an endorsement of their actions.

Only have to get to the second line for BS. It was originally stop legal action, that was stopped then they moved the goalposts.

Their own statement appears to say that they will only talk if SISU stop the EC complaint which is impossible.

The EC will only investigate if there is something that needs looking it to. It's not like a court case where the other side have to defend themselves.
So if, and its still an if, that proceeds they think there's something worth investigating. As a local taxpayer surely thats a good thing or do you think the councils use of public funds should never be challenged?

Ultimately then, the winding up of CCFC will have been worth it if there is a case for CCC to answer.

That's what I mean, clubs have in the past. I have a feeling we were one of the first to do so many years ago. The rules about no games on TV at 3pm on a Saturday (which isn't actually a law) were in place then so surely its possible now.

I think you’re missing my point!

They will give a shit if the population of Coventry where their stadium is based makes it unviable for them to remain here!

They don't give a shit because they just roll out the PR. Boycotting CCFC plays into their hands, the same as it would if the EFL refused a groundshare.

You may as well say that Aldi are going to be gutted if nobody goes to Lidl.

Bit of an odd conclusion to draw. Personally if the council and / or Wasps have done something wrong I'd want them to be punished and CCFC to return to the city but each to their own.

It is incredibly deflating and gutting news, although in reality not that surprising as it has looked the most likely outcome for a while.

I'm tired of blaming all the different parties, SISU, CCC and Wasps are all as bad as each other and have all contributed in different ways to this ultimate outcome.

All we want is to be able to cheer on our beloved skyblues and support Robins and the exciting team he is building into the championship.

There is nothing we can do, the fans are the most important but the most powerless in this fiasco. All we have the power to do is stay away and resent the above parties that we can't see our team in our own city or we go support the team, take all this hurt and emotion and fuel it into showing our players that wherever we go we are the city boys making all the noise! I didn't go Northampton but I will go and support our Coventry City Football Club next season!

Play Up SkyBlues!!!!

Curious. If brum are playing away on a sat, can we play on the same day as villla or would we need to be 3rd in consideration meaning it’s likely that most home games will be on a Friday or Sunday
