Lucy Connelly got fast tracked the others havnt that's what I'm on about!
What I don’t understand is what has two tier justice or starmer making his speech on far right hate speech got to do with someone pleading guilty to inciting racial hatred
Why aren’t they picking on the solicitor who gave such shocking advice?

A school teacher and mother of a young child. She said something in the heat of the moment which she then took down. It's pathetic and just being made an example of. How many hotels got burnt down on her say so, none. Starmer is just a c**t. Two tiers example at its finest!
Nothing to do with starmer it’s a Tory givebrment set of legislation
I have great trouble someone being imprisoned for what is said but this has to have boundaries

Fundamentally though you’d hope a good solicitor would be able to show that there was no incitement behind the words however hideous and offensive

It's storing up problems in the future and everyone involved in these particular cases,or most of them have served enough time and need to be released, not blight their lives forever,a short sharp shock is all that was required and that point has passed by now.
That’s true and I think right
Which surprises me again what the appeal was and on what ground was it refused

Whatever the denial, clearly she is a racist (they almost went for the 'but I've got a black friend') and she's not a very nice person, but plenty of other racists and other horrible people who get far less. She'll lose her job, will be forever tarnished, has received her shock sentence and I see no benefit to anyone in keeping her locked up.

Tbh I do think it's a bit much to lock anyone up on either side of any divide for a few hurty words, but if that's the law then so be it. However full prisons supposedly and I'd much rather resources were spent on catching, killers, rapists and nonces.

31 months is less than 66 months.

12 months is less than 25 months.

Absolutely nobody is putting them on a par except you.
Again I think the point is correct the sentences are incomparable for the action but that doesn’t take into account what was happening or what Lucy Connolly was advised to plead guilty too

on a Facebook group someone said they’d read that 30000 current prisoners were guilty of social media comments

that’s the level of fuckwittery and nonsense people will believe

only 1500 were convicted in the last 12 months and when the country isn’t in the middle of rioting nightly I doubt the others received prison time

We can both acknowledge that it’s inhumane for this woman’s child to not have her with her for almost a year and still think that when someone pleads guilty to inciting racial hatred and people around the country are throwing bricks at police and setting fire to hotels that a prison sentence is appropriate

Interesting comment the three judges said the sentence wasn’t manifestly wrong and …

"was substantially based on a version of events put forward by the applicant which we have rejected".

Yeah she knew full well what she was doing:

The court heard that the day before Connolly was arrested, she sent a WhatsApp message saying the “raging tweet about burning down hotels has bit me on the arse lol”.

She also said she would “play the mental health card” if arrested, and would deny responsibility for the post if asked.

Yet Tommy Robinson who has served less due out imminently. Yes I understand different crimes and sentences, but to compare the two and leave one in and release the other, you have to question the sensibility.

Yep agreed
Cause very few ‘middle class’ people ever have any experience of court or the law lots seems contradictory or out of date or unfair

Surely bravado though. This was unprecedented and nobody could've forseen what was to follow or the sentences passed. Presumably and hopefully a deterrent for the future to others, although the cunts that threw bricks at the police obviously have no rationale and I'd wager would do so again at any other civil disorder.

The only good thing is it will just point more people towards Reform and consign Labour to the dustbin
Disagree. Until there is proportional representation it will push more of the centre right further to the right but ultimately split the vote further and in a three party split will give Labour continued control.

What putting nasty things on the Internet after one of the worst atrocities this country has ever seen. Lineker can do it and get away with it.
He can do what and get away with it? Aren't you talking about the woman encouraging people to burn down hotels and effectively murder people?

It has been said she took the legal advice to plead guilty believing it was the surest and quickest way to return to her family life and 12 yr old daughter, but it was turned out to be quite the opposite.

Wow

The transcript is really eye opening

The appeal is that the solicitor misled her which is utterly rejected

They found Lucy Connolly evidence on the important matters to be incredible.

Hugely badly informed and an eye opener for anyone else who thinks they can publicly say what they like without consequence

Hard lesson to learn though
