Hoping the speculation about missing players tomorrow is just mind games from FL. In general, elite athletes have a slightly lower immunity while training intensively according to various stuff I remember reading. Sorry, no links as got to head to the pub
It's not. EMC let it be known in the press conference also.

This is a tough tough ask at full strength.
If we aren't - I fear a bit of a struggle.

That is bollocks. 90%? no way is that accurate, just some online bullshit. It is a surprisingly high number considering their profession and experiences but interestingly the numbers are not often published.
Flu kills people, as does Covid. The "Spanish" Flu epidemic killed millions, peculiarly mainly young, fully fit, healthy people. That strain never went away and only vaccination will protect you. Covid much the same, only the "at risk" suffered worse.
Polio used to be a common illness that has been virtually eradicated by vaccination. See also Measles that can kill children or send them blind, lead to brain damage and immunity problems with other diseases. Cases were falling dramatically but are on the rise due to the Kennedy stupidity in the USA..
How can Kennedy have had any effect in the less than one year he has been HHS?
Clearly the cases in the USA are by and large in the already vaccinated population.

Johns Hopkins University claims the MMR vaccination rates in the USA in 2025 were 92.5% (and the AI answer below about 2025 MMR rates concurs) and there have been many years where the rates have been lower without any outbreaks. I did an AI search and these were the numbers I got.

What do you think about the measles case numbers from Canada? Their vaccination rates are high too but they have 3 times the number of cases there than in the USA in a much smaller population. Canada loses measles elimination status, with US on track to follow

It seem to me that the new strain around in the Americas breaks through the vaccinations and there is no obvious effect caused by the current administration's stance. In fact Kennedy not that long ago said in the linked post on X that "The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine,"

Anyway it wasn't me that started this aside, can we get back to FOOTBALL PLEASE.

Ah, OK. Fair enough. As long as it's not Grimes or Rushworth. Or Jay. Or Kitch. Or Thomas. Or Torp.
A bit of blitz spirit should do us good, I've suddenly realised I've been a right negative pillock in my general demeanor so this is a positive one,we will win, the god's will be with us!

I’m definitely not an anti-vaxxer but believe people should choose whether or not they take a vaccine.

It comes to risk profile, most people on this forum, for example, probably didn’t need the COVID vaccine. This seasons flu isn’t killing fit and healthy people so just because someone like MVE may miss a football game doesn’t mean all footballers should have vaccine mandates. The comparison to the ‘Spanish Flu’ (which killed more people than WW1) and COVID is a bit much. The flu vaccine changes year by year so isn’t even specific to the strain that’s season. For the that reason, it’s not the same as mumps, measles and so on.

If any other employer forced its workers to take a vaccine, I’d consider that violation of that individuals rights. So the suggestion footballers should be deducted wages is just plainly dumb and authoritarian.

A general point, if people want to be anti-vaxxers and they/their children get ill, let them be an unfortunate example to others. Vaccine mandates don’t breed trust in them. People opt in because the data tells us they are generally much better than not taking them.

On the ‘90% stat’, it’s definitely not UK specific but even the NHS numbers show a minority of NHS frontline staff take vaccines.

Despite being hit by illness at Ipswich we probably should have gone in front in the first half anyway. Obviously depends who's been hit by it and how badly, but this is a more resilient group than we give it credit for sometimes.

If it's a bridge too far so be it

This is the first year I’ve not had a heavy cold/ flu. Been taking Vitamin B12/ D supplements and running 4 times a week - coincidence ?

Then again, I discovered my wife was having an affair with a friend of a friend so my mental health is absolutely fucked and I’m mainlining antidepressants 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, Soton 1 Cov 1

I didn't see that twist coming when I was enjoying the 1st paragraphs positive message and feel good factor.

Hopefully things soon take a turn for the better for you.

There being full in the camp doesn't mean anyone is out, just that people have been unwell at times.

There was clearly flu in the camp for a while with Torp then MVE being out but we still managed to but out a best XI last week. We'll see tomorrow who is well enough to play.

I’d love to get everyone’s thoughts on the Covid vaccine if you’ve got a few minutes

Playing 4 at the back with 2 or more vaccinated players is asking for trouble.
Definitely stick with a 3 and a couple of wing backs, at least one of whom has had the typhoid jab
