His absolute best would be Leeds, Sun, Burnley or one of the relegated sides maybe Ipswich.

I just don't think he's at the level anymore to be playing for a Fulham, Brentford etc.

He's a top midfielder in this division and stands out, but the Prem is levels above this division.

It will be interesting to see how Shef U navigate around this utter fuck up losing today, Hamer and many will like move on.
It will appear that Shef U will be doomed because of this failure, but they will recoup a fair amount and rebuild. I still think next season they will be right up the top.

They will rebuild, I will be surprised if they don't go out and spend 15/20m this summer.

We can't just assume that Shef will be out of the promotion race next season because of today.

We just need to keep doing what we are doing, buying a Rudoni for 5 million and eventually moving him on for 5 times the amount, adding more quality to the ge eral depth of the team and repeating the process until we eventually have that season where thing go our way.

Looking at the Sheff Utd forum they don't seem that distraught at all, they seem very measured about what happened. They didn't sell out their end at Wembley and created no atmosphere at all.
Sunderland wanted it way more on and off the pitch. I do wonder if sub consciously among the fans and players there was a bit of trepidation about going up only to get hammered week in week out like last season.
I'm thinking if we had gone up today, while I'd be getting hammered celebrating like everyone else, at what point would my euphoria die down and the trepidation and realism hit that realistically our best case scenario would be getting 25 points. Sadly that's the reality for clubs like us Sheff Utd Sunderland Southampton Leicester West Brom Norwich and many others. It's actually quite sobering and if the 3 who ha e gone up this season are relegated as early as the three coming down this season were then I think there is a real problem as fans will lose interest in the PL at most clubs in the country bar the elite 6-8 clubs.

I think they could be the Leeds of next season. They lost the play offs then smashed 100 points.

I wouldn't be putting money on any of the promoted teams staying up next season. No matter the size of the club the gap is way to big and getting bigger. 4th from bottom is going to take some effort by one of the 3.

Shame that its become a thankless task but winning promotion is not exactly the great prize we chase. The getting there is more fun than the outcome, its like climbing Everest only to find the top and the view is of a taller mountain in front of you thats impossible to climb.

As I have said previously in the thread, both fantastic footballers but there was a reason that Gyokeres got a move to a top club playing in European competition and Hamer went to one of the worst sides in Premier League history - Vik was an animal, you only have to look how ripped and bulky he is these days to see that and according to Adi he spent hours on the training ground trying to improve himself, Gus supposedly likes the footballers lifestyle too much and it is of detriment to him, he's had a better career than most even playing one Premier League game but could and should be so much more, but an established Premier League club will simply not take that chance on him if his lifestyle is still the same

To add onto what you said, comparing the two players it’s undeniable that Gyokeres is a lot more athletic than Hamer.

The technical differences between the Championship and Premier League is generally closing. Where the gap is widening is Premier League players have the technical skills but also the athleticism and that’s where the gap is widening.

Back to Hamer, he’s unbelievably talented and had he been around in the 90-00s, he’d probably be a good Prem CM. Nowadays footballers are just a lot more professional with many being teetotallers.

I’m not overly bothered about either of them. Both would have been PL players if they’d won yesterday, albeit for a team who’d almost certainly finish bottom, again. I don’t think an established PL team would sign either of them.

No ones crying, just pointing out why he won't reach his ceiling, mainly in response to his fan boys naming clubs he might go to that there's not a cat in halls chance will sign him for the very reasons mentioned.

Given Hamers obvious natural talent I think it would be disappointing for him if the highest he achieved was a season in the Prem in one of the worst teams of all time.
