That was a bad day out. Getting done 4-0 on Easter Monday IIRC by Midlands minnows then coming in for earfuls of abuse from the home fans from the station afterwards. All in a locale that made the words bit of Cov look like a holiday destination.

From memory it was very cold too.

I quite liked Clarke. He just made a few mistakes and lost confidence, not helped with the likes of Adge jumping on every error
Ah ok-lets just sweep it all under the carpet and pretend it was all good and that no mistakes ever happened and he was a great player.

No but it's wrong to say he was terrible. He had a tough start, being thrown in as a boy before he was ready, but he wasn't especially poor. He was about average for us over the last decade

Really? Each to their own I guess.
Never forget the classic from Thorn regarding Clarke that “he could go on and play for England”.
Priceless. On par with Burge could be a World Cup winner.

Didn’t Ranson say the same about that left back who came from AFC Wimbledon? Name escapes me at this early hour.

Conor Thomas played for Cheltenham Town at Stratford Townon Saturday. Cheltenham looked awful and Stratford beat them 2-1

The problem with Clarke wasn't that he was rubbish, just not as good as he was hyped up to be when he was coming through, especially at a time when we'd produced a few half-decent full backs and he was supposedly the best of the lot. We've had worse.

Willis looked shit for quite a while (albeit playing RB), Ben Turner gave me kittens every time the ball went near him on the deck for ages and I thought Wilson looked very very average on his debut (playing wide right)
