How democratic is the SBT? Do the 4 board members decide what to do or do their ideas get voted on by the other members? If it's the former is there any point having a representative from here when the board might carry on with the same pro-council, pro-wasps, anti-SISU agenda.

Nothing to do with your flouncing out of it of course. Personally I’m still willing to give you the benefit of doubt and hope you stop flouncing and run for the board unconditionally on a manifesto of pursuing the representation you want. If you did that I’d say fair play even if ended in your resignation. Right now you’re just looking like someone who said something for attention and is trying to weasel their way out of it in the cold light of day.

Sorry this really isn’t difficult.

The main objective rather than some boring point scoring is to try and create some unity across various groups where there is discourse

Even that weird group ran by that creep Jonathan Strange has a trust member

It’s clear if there are spaces then the Trust allocated a space to this message board. They make vetting rules for applicants to be considered and we elect a member into the board with specific aims and objectives from this forum.

I would put myself forward but how can I seriously take a place on a board (which is grandiosity at its best anyway) through a coronation and then represent this forum then I’ve not even been selected from the members here?

I mean this is ridiculous

There are 8 board members at present. We’ve polled our members on issues in the past and will always continue to do so.

There should be a member of this site on the Supporters Forum imo. That’s probably the best way if it will be voted on by members from this site. Trust board members should be voted on by Trust members.

You’re expecting the equivalent of Labour Party members voting on the next leader of the Conservatives. You’re right. That is ridiculous. If you made a mistake and don’t really want the position you should at least have the decency to admit it.

I’ve said I will 100% stand for the post that’s allocated to this forum which has I think more members than the trust - which oddly was my position from the very beginning

I don’t even understand the analogy as I’ve said all people standing have to be trust members and can be vetted as such beforehand

I think you are losing your mind. I’ve said I will stand on the conditions I’ve set out which this forum embraces

You seem a bit frightened of something? What is it?

You're going about this backwards, and it does give the impression of entryism.

What's wrong with getting elected (or, more likely, just being allowed on as so few stand!) on an SBT platform, putting it into action? You'll lose all moral authority if we rise against you, you won't be able to fulfill what you stood on, and the next time your seat comes up somebody from here wopuld stand against you and there'd have to be an election. You'd lose as you'd be totally discredited.

Or... You could even get elected to the Trust board, and make it conditional on a positive result on a Sky Blue Talk referendum (how about we make the margin needed more than 52:48 though?). You could commit to resign if you didn't get that.

Or... you could commit to stand, but only if enough people here vote for you to stand before the deadline for submissions at the Trust.

All those would get you your democratic mandate from here, you could take your pick which one of those you think's appropriate for you.

I think we should do a ballot on here - elect who we consider most appropriate from the list and propose to the trust that person sits on the board - we elect before the deadline

Believe me it has to be this way round so we can see if the elected person gets his or her place

That's not an unreasonable suggestion.

I assume if you're the only candidate from here, you'd be happy to put yourself forward on a vote of zero?

My issue with boards of this nature are they are often run by people with the most time on their hands or are well connected and liked by city fans. I would favour some sort of transparent process where perspective board members could state what attributes, experience and perspective they feel they would bring to the role. Then the fans could choose a board based on more sophisticated selection criteria.

I'm sorry, but some of the stuff going back the other way to Grendel is equally as bad. I know we love to use him as a pantomime villain on here but he often makes some good points and most of his criticism of certain members of the trust board is entirely valid.

Sorry for the other thread, I never look for stickies!
Is it just Grendel, or is anyone else gonna put themselves forward? If not, do we just do a poll to get a show of hands of in favour or against?
Nick, are there many people on here that you know of with duplicate accounts that could significantly influence the outcome of any vote (not necessarily just on the Grendel nomination poll)?

Not many with genuine duplicate accounts, if any.

Certainly not ones that are in use on a regular basis.

I don't want to be splitting the vote here but surely Grendel and skybluetony176 come as a pairing and both should get nominated.

Can you nominate more than one person?

I don't really care who it is but if the trust really wants to open up then it needs to be more representative of a few blokes that can get down the pub in Cov at the last minute. We need a sub section where concerns on this board can be collated and taken to board meetings by somebody who won't just accept any old answer and will challenge them. We also need somebody to feed back what has been said at these stonemason meetings with Eastwood and Hoffman that the inner circle are only allowed to know, someone with the power to be able to say the trust refuse this meeting unless we are able to challenge the arguments and put responses out to fans. One representative from here would do a hell of a lot more to open the board up than anything it has done since forming.

I agree with this but it must be remembered that some things may be confidential and not open to sharing on here, it is then down to trusting whoever is elected to represent the majority view on here and to report back as much as possible.

It does need a vote, even if it is only Grendel willing to put his name forward.

CJ is probably correct that Trust members should be the one's who vote for the Board but it should not be a problem if there are spaces available. If it did come down to a Trust vote we could all join so that we could vote for our agreed candidate. I guess that everyone would be willing to join the Trust to vote for a SBT rep.

I thought any Trust member could stand, be nominated. I m sure there are Trust members on the forum.
I ll pay your £1 Grendel.
Do nt think we should be precious about being called the Sky Blue Talk, Trust board member., just
someone from here to represent SBTs views.
I d be suprised if someone from the Forum stood and did nt get elected if we voted for him / her.

Correct. If someone from here wanted to put themselves forward for the board and gets voted on I don’t see why they can’t directly represent every member that uses this forum.
