He’s done a 5 year premier league plan, can you seriously see him here for 5 years?

Were they not considerably less than that last season? If, and its obviously a huge if, he gets people to renew at an increased price while feeling they've got some sort of victory and a bargain price I'm not entirely sure you could say it was terrible business!

Does make me laugh that we've gone from 'King won't talk to the box holders and compromise, he's clueless' to 'King is talking to box holders and offering to compromise, he's clueless'

Can't believe the number of posts we've had about fucking boxes none of us use, the sooner pre-season matches start the better

Bring back Operation Premiership. Back in the day when they used to send you stuff in the post to get you to renew your season ticket I remember one year there was a promise we'd be challenging for a place in Europe

Looks like those of us who said he should have done it incrementally were right.

Not at all.

If you are going to really shift price do it from a position of strength and ideally do it once.

position of strength: highest finish in 20 years. Likely material player income to fund positive transfer window.

Do it once: no one likes 3-4 years of big increases. That alienates people too.

you can of course but what happens if we have a poor season ? Harder to push price again next summer.

King might not get his £24k for the boxes but I suspect he will het 2 to 3 years of price increase through in one go which will still be relative success for him and the club

And yet the consensus seems to be, as far as I can tell, that current box holders are buying in to the new proposal.

To be fair, although you're right most of us will never use them, I know people who do who are die hard city supporters who have been there through thick and thin, so yeah, I care what happens regarding boxes.
Same as I do about the child price increases and upping the OAP age even though they don't affect me.

Precisely what those at the club were advising to do a stepped process not a large increase in one go

It just seems he looked at what a couple of others charged and thought he’d have a bit of that with zero consideration to other factors - target market, offering that’s available compared to those charging that, number to sell etc - it highlights little commercial experience.

Actually the opposite of what it’s alleged others wanted to do.

Pricing in steps or incrementally ONLY works if you are broadly at the market rate or just below …. If you are miles below the rate and let’s face it £9k for a box is less than 50% of the market rate, you can’t go up in increments because you never get to the market rate as the other clubs are also increasing price each year … you do narrow the gap after 4-5 years but you are structurally disadvantaging your own club financially

But what is actually happening is what you're suggesting doesn't work.
King is implementing incremental increases, box holders appear happy, King will get to the price he wants in the next year or two, seems like a good outcome to me.

By looking at what other championship clubs charge for similar equivalents and then applying an adjustment based on local factors.

Well you don’t really do you. So if this price was rejected what then? He lowers it more?

The market rate of course he’s looking at is corporate business packages but now is having to go back to existing clients to try and persuade to purchase.

Now he says he’s going to work with Frasers to improve the offering. Er that’s something he should have checked first isn’t it? That his price comparison isn’t comparable?

A lot of people seem relaxed as “we are not in a corporate box” - I’d exercise caution here. He wants clearly to price and has little understanding of how to do it. He will be looking at annual RPI prices for everyone every season. I guarantee it.

I think perhaps the mistake he also made was that he also looked at the calibre of some organisations that were partnering with other Championship clubs and took the position that now the club has entered into a new era that the 'better calibre' of businesses not only within the region but on a national/international scale would be there for the taking. The success of last season likely only inflated that viewpoint.

He did check our offering first. He openly talked about that on his BBC CWR interview …. Do people just ignore the facts to support their position.

Of course there will be annual increases in season ticket prices …. We have inflation at nearly 9% !

Behave the kids prices were ridiculously low, and to add insult to injury people were then giving them to adults to come in knowing they were not being checked.
