Should be a cracker Ireland v England on Saturday. Ireland are awesome these days, but hope England raise their game ? So I'll go to the Gillingham game and go somewhere and watch the rugby. Come on England !

Always superb quality and drama but this year should be a cracking comp, World Cup year, Ireland how will they handle being best in the world, England trying to rebuild again and going for a side based on power, France unknown quantity, mix of young players and some big monsters, Wales always unpredictable, Scotland with a strong side by their standards and a couple of potential world class players which they’ve lacked in recent years and then Italy ah bless them, thanks for coming.

I’m going France (by 5), Ireland (by 6) and Scotland(by 19) wins on the opening weekend.

No deal? Not even if it is Johnny May's?

Need Farrell to keep his head, Ireland will be trying to wind him up that's for sure.

Probably my favourite competition of the calendar year. And of course I’ve missed the first 20 minutes of it because I’m out on the beer.

Did look the other week and don’t think any of the England Saturday games align with Cov home games so will be the first time in a long while.

Some comeback by wales, aided by a typical French self implosion!
Great game to start the Comp!

Yes entertaining game and first time in 6 Nations any team has come back from 16 nil down at half time. French looked absolutely stunned at the end. Talk about 'game of two halves' !

Unhappy that Ireland lost but credit to England. They took some great chances really well. I think Ireland just didn't play to their usual plans, apart from the usual long kicks into the corner, which just didn't come off today. After that performance by England, I have to tip them to at least take the Six Nations, if not, the Grand Slam.

Ireland get 2 national anthems a game, usually the final game on St Paddy’s and a cult hero retiring every year. There’s luck of the Irish and there’s taking the piss

They can't be played on St Patrick's day every year. It only falls on a Saturday every 6 or 7 years (depending on leap years).

I was exaggerating but I can remember more than 1 finale on that day in the last 6 years. Would rather the tourney be moved to May/June and Ireland stripped of 1 national anthem

You would want Rugby played in the Summer ? Think what it was like last year. Rugby is a Winter time game that would change for the worse if played in hot conditions.

More like late Spring just find it frustrating for the Irish to get these little extra bonuses when they’re already a strong side. Even September/October would be fine. It’s either on St Paddy’s Day or weekend most years

Great game though, best I've seen England play for ages. Massive crunching tackles and amazing line speed just disrupted everything Ireland did - something the Irish were always good at - making it difficult for teams to settle into a forward momentum. Ireland seem to be the only nation that respects the kicker - always impressed at the total silence.

Amuses me now how you can qualify for the 6 nations as a player - France had a South African who could be picked because he lived there. I reckon I could qualify for selection for Ireland because I like a Guinness or France because I like a croissant. It used to be tenuous links to parents and grandparents but I think anything goes these days.

Nope, admittedly watched on TV and it maybe it's different in the ground.

I heard loud whistling before just about every kick to the posts. It wasn't probably more than one or two people but certainly heard it on tv.

Imagine if they were taking a penalty with the whole ground making noise and shouting "wanker" as they kick it, with people behind the goal jumping about.

Are they soft?

Funnily enough a lot of players say that they find the silence a bit unnerving. Having the constant background din of the crowd is something they are always used to and this sudden focus on them as the kicker can be a bit more pressure.

Could imagine, always find it weird at the BPA absolute silence for opposition kickers yet noise for Cov usually from groups deciding on the next beer order but always seems to be when Cov are kicking opposed to oppo.

Just had a few quid bet on England winning today over France by a margin of 36-40 if correct I pick up £78.00
You wait the French will play brilliantly !

Ha was discussing this yesterday and I said it’ll be something between England by 40 to France by 20, god knows what French side will turn up!

There will be some massive hits though, think the medics are in for a busy afternoon.
