Commissioned by the book publisher.

Commissioning is the agreement reached between a writer/publisher around what the book is about, expectations of when it will be written by etc.

It doesn't mean it's being paid for by CT, CCC, ACL or the London lot

Yeah, maybe Simon pitched the idea and the publisher gave ahead with an advance.

Some people think quickly and have wide knowledge.

Can I ask why you often ask questions to which the answer is obvious?

yep first thing I noticed.
It's not like it's a book that's going to sell a lot of copies anyway so it's hardly a money spinner.
And let's face it a real investigation is unlikely to take place whilst confidentiality clauses remain in place.
Any genuine book which tells the story of the Ricoh has to examine the sale of the club & Highfield road etc. Nobody has come close to a definitive version of the truth with that.

"I want to use this book to challenge perceptions, and underline the positives that came out of the club’s move away from Coventry."

seriously I can't think how anyone can say anything positive came out of the move. Besides the short-term effect of a rent reduction what are the benefits of having moved and come back? Academy under threat, stadium under "new ownership", nowhere near having a realistic plan for the future (or even past the next 18-24 months)

True Tiza, there is a good 2 part play/drama in the whole thing, covering 20 odd years from the days of hanging on in the Premiership to today (and beyond). But it will have to be a fictional account, inspired by events & not claiming to be factual or the law suits will be flying through the air and overtaking those pigs delivering steel girders to the new stadium. Don't think I'll be putting pen to paper on that one though :chicken:

Get the likes of David Yallop on it (if he's still alive!) and you'd have a cracker.

Given FIFA tried to ban his stuff, sure SISU and CCC are small beer

Nick, can you confirm why me offering an answer to a question fifteen minutes after it was asked is deemed by you as being quick and also what the "..." at the end of your reply is meant to insinuate?

If you've got anything to add I'd be happy to answer - however assume I'd need to wait at least 16 mins before replying?

do think the headline "From grand Ricoh Arena plans to playing in Northampton... new book will chronicle Coventry City's fall" & the book title "A club without a home" is slightly out of sync with Simon outlining the positives.
Unless the book deals with all those involved starting with the decision to move & build a new stadium through to the decision-making involved with the Wasps it won't work as a definitive story. Let's face it despite court cases etc. nobody has come close to finding a definitive version due to all sides having such different versions of the "truth".

Not necessarily, authors can be commissioned by a 3rd party such as CCC or even SISU. Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that's the case here.

I think we all know the truth. It's been underlined in the courts. It's just that on here there are those that can't accept it.

courts only deal with this story when it's halfway through and certainly haven't dealt with ending yet -the Wasps deal.

They also deal with the legalities, and not the politicking or intrigue.

Courts deal with the case presented before them. There wasn't one. None so blind as those who don't want to see. Wipe those scales from your eyes.

So you're saying that everything SISU have done and planned will be revealed by the court cases?

This should be good. Two trading companies agree a deal. Bullies don't like it and decide to ' batter them in court'
Subscribers to football forum hang onto bullies' every word.
Pass me that crystal ball. yes, I see the headlines now!

if there is to be a decent book then SISU will only be a part of it. Previous owners, charities & councils are all a big part of any story involving CCFC & the Ricoh.

You don't necessarily have to get angry with Simon. Uncomfortable questions do it too.

Neither of them are, it seems. tbh I find it a bit bizarre that people who put themselves in the public eye feel the need to do so quite so readily.

Yep agree - using the Mute option would serve a better purpose, as you wouldn't see the comments but equal the person wouldn't be aware.

Blocking someone for verbal abuse is fair enough - but blocking someone for asking questions of what you write, especially if you are in a position of influence in regards to 'facts' vs 'opinions' ?

Free press is seen as a privilege in this country and rightly so.. doesn't mean that free press shouldn't be challenged on it's accuracy.

Tbf to Reid though, he has been subjected to far more vitriol and abuse from CCFC fans.

Disagreeing with him or questioning his position is more than adequate criteria for ending up on his block list.

Where does it show what they actually said to be blocked? as apart from their word for it we don't know if it was for questioning his position, or for abuse.

If it was for abuse then they should be blocked, if it was for questioning his opinion then that is pretty shameful, which is also true of Simon Gilbert.

And deserved more, that interview with Joy was beyond embarrassing, although TBF he
did well to get through it whilst kissing her feet at the same time.

I'm not sure on a person-to-person basis, but the comments indicate it's because people have challenged his position.

The Twitter account details are there for it to be cross-referenced.

However, he blocked me (@armybike) for questioning his comments/statements.

He's confirmed he blocked me and makes no reference to abuse towards him being the reason -

Yeah, Reid does that for sure. But he hasn't got editorial control of comments on his Observer articles, most of them attack his bias.
