Simms time… (9 Viewers)

I've noticed that he's winning more headers and finding a blue shirt when he does. That's a huge improvement. And whilst he's still not fully convincing at controlling a pass, he's improved there too. I noticed he's anticipating that his control is going to let him down and made a feature of running onto the ball which rebounds off his foot. And consequently keeping possession.

He's definitely much better now than when he arrived.

I'd have got rid for any price last season, but I was wrong. Been outstanding and works so hard. Would've been motm last night if he'd added a deserved goal.

Laid back and such a team player, so much that as a striker he doesnt even take pens. Complete opposite of Wright, who tbf is much more talented, but also far more selfish. We have good variation across all our striking options and could do a lot worse than stick with it next season.

We've just signed Markelo, are committed to Onyeka and I'm sure most of us would like Rushworth and probably Charlie Hughes. That's already around £50m and I dont think we'll be spending silly sums.

But he played well dont you think!

I think he did ok. I think there’s a lot of hyperbole around it for whatever reason. Against better quality opposition such as Saturday I wouldn’t want him starting.

Same for BTA

My father-in-law said to me when I got home last night that Simms played like a "cultured international striker" in the second half. He'd watched the game on Sky whilst looking after my youngest.

Having thought about the comment all day today, I'll be checking the Whiskey bottle levels when I get home.

He may have meant for Gibraltar or Malta

Well get that I think.
I said £10m on another thread and got laughed at but I don’t think it’s that far fetched. Good age, good goals to minutes record, maybe a promotion on the CV. Tom Cannon, Ross Stewart, Adam
Armstrong all gone for similar amounts recently. Strikers cost money.

We paid £8.5m for him if we go up in all likelihood so £10m isn’t a huge stretch.

Simms has grown on me this season , hes a better all round footballer today than he was in his first season where he scored a couple more .. Not sure if frank an get more out of him but his contribution this season has been solid
Maybe it was because Preston were shit and gave him time but Ellis played some great passes last night and was unlucky not to score though his shot that came back of the post led to Brandon's goal.

I can’t see why we’ve suddenly laid out £8.5m

If we end up paying that full amount, then we could pick up half of his salary back as well,in fact if he ends up moving we'll get a saving on his wages, guess we'll see.

I had a feeling he’ll stay but he’s out of contract end of next year, and I wonder if we’ll cash in and get two strikers in or try and extend. I think BTA will move to a Champ club same with Lats. Thomas probably get a new deal.

Charlie Hughes? Is he actually worth the figures that were being quoted and in reality is he better than what we have already?

In isolation sure but I’m not sure he’s the sort we want for a relegation scrap alongside Thomas. Surely you want someone a bit talismanic who can do the McFadzean type role alongside?
