I can’t see Dasilva and MVE playing as orthodox full backs

Depends on the game state. I can see Latibeaudiere and Bidwell doing it though.

We definitely went 4 at the back when chasing the game a few times last season.

And started with 4 at the back once I think (though in a very defensive setup)

Must be wondering why he signed at the moment.

We signed him to help the club build bridges with that part of the world

You are what you do, Eccles was mostly a RWB as he couldn’t get in at CM starting out as a young player. It’s not unusually for young midfielders to play out wide at first.

Saka has only played at AM when we’ve had no other options, and we just signed an AM who got on ahead of him yesterday.

Id be willing to bet Sakamoto plays wingback more than AM this season.

Each time he’s played AM he’s showed intelligent movement, good technique and worked hard on and off the ball. Quite how a half asleep Palmer still comes on for him I don’t know.

I've been a massive fan of MR, but I think he got the big decisions wrong tonight.

Maybe thats the difference between a manager who can get us to the brink and a manager who can take us beyond that. That’s a tough call for King to make

unbelievable comment. There is no call for King to make after a draw away at Hull.

As for Saka, he’s going to be one of those players that gets better every time he doesn’t play with some of our simple fans. He’ll get another chance but just not sure where he plays. Too lightweight and ineffective at AM and never getting past Van Ewijk at RWB

Agree, but the same could be argued for Ayari, although I suspect we contractually have to give him game time to have secured the deal. If he's AM we have Saka Palmer, O'Hare when fit and Allen already. I think Ayari was planned as more of a Gus replacement but can't be trusted positionally.

Saka needs to be given a fair chance. Last night was ideal for him to come on and work his socks off to bolster the team and pose some forward threat.
Instead we got Robin’s favourite Palmer.

Ayari played well last night but looked to be fading fitness wise after an hour, subbing him was correct, in fairness to Robins he wasn’t to know Palmer was to be as ineffective as he was, personally I’d have taken him off after 10 minutes.

Given Palmer had played a full game for Jamaica the likelihood is he wouldn't be on it last night. It was midfield where Hull had the extra legs on us towards the end of the game, and Palmer's introduction didn't change that. I would have expected Sakamoto to have got about the pitch more and given us more energy than Palmer provided when he came on and it was a poor call by MR.

I’m getting a bit bored of Robins again saying he didn’t have a chance to bring Saka on. We lack creativity in midfield and he is the only who can beat his man and get the ball into the box for the strikers. Then we’ve got people moaning the strikers aren’t doing anything. They’ve got nobody that’s passing or crossing the ball to them with any accuracy in dangerous positions.

Im thinking this is an Ysrael Zuniga moment. Robins was wondering why a Japanese tourist was wondering around with the squad on tour then was told he’s been signed by the Kings who want to expand shaving gel into Japan

The game was crying out for an extra body in midfield last night, we had 2 isolated strikers and we couldn't get out of our half for most of the second half, leaving 2 upfront was a fucking disaster that cost us 2 points and the chance of our first away win of the season.

What the fuck is the point of Ellis Simms???
And why bring a jet lagged Palmer on when Sakamoto was ready and available?

Did you see Eccles with the ball at his feet jestering to the strikers to make a move?

There was no movement from any of the 3 strikers used last night, which is why another body in midfield that was capable of running from deep was what was required.

Wright had his worst game for us last night, Godden was poor by his own standards, and Simms is just pointless.

It just seemed a perfect opportunity to bring him on with Ayari flagging and Palmer, not renowned for his stamina, had travelled halfway across the world and back having played 90mins in between. Even then it looked like we needed another body in midfield and should have gone 1 up top. Two perfect opportunities to bring him on in the one game and he didn't.

It's not like Saka won't put in the necessary effort from what we've seen. Plus he does possess the potential to run at players and get us up the field.

If MR isn't bringing him on in that game I can't see him bringing him on much at all.

It’s easy in hindsight isn’t it, at the time I could see the logic in bringing Palmer on Robins wasn’t to know the inept all round performance he would get from him I’m certain behind closed doors he’ll let Palmer know how unacceptable it was.
As for not using Sako again easy in hindsight. Looking back I’d think bringing on Thomas or Kitching or even both just putting bodies in the gaps that were appearing in midfield might have been better but that’s just an opinion again easy after the event.

He had no other options..McGuire? Palmer was poor the other night, but we were already in trouble by then with the insistence of keeping the 2 strikers on

I’ve read some funny things on this forum but this has to be the best. Why would you even write that let alone think it? “Bringing on Palmer at Wembley was also a master stroke”. The passive aggressive quotes on this site are worse than sex addicts given the red pill. Unbelievable.

You’ll find there were no tears just a slice of banter, mixed with a little bit of irony and someone biting it. Thanks for being the first one to eat an enigma sarnie. Not heard the word blimey since 1987….. think it was someone from London can’t remember now.

If we played the box I think he’d have the freedom to drift out wide more. Can’t see us flipping to 4 at the back.
