Wearing a novelty kit is a recipe for disaster, see the only home game we lost during the 19/20 season for an example

** idiots - there was more than one, and why if it was obvious to most something was going on did the whole stand sing “get the bastard off the pitch”? Perhaps get the bastards out the stands would’ve been a better option?

Not buying it mate sorry, your club seems to have a deep rooted problem football is better off without.

For no other reason than to put the player and his family 1st we should take a step back and listen and watch over the next few days to what's going on and what is coming out of the club. Whatever Kasey decides to do on Friday we should respect, as he now has to protect his family and his family well-being before anything else.

Sadly, for him this will not just go away Friday, he will have to decide how he wants to handle this on a few levels. I wish him and his family the best and know we as fans show him what we are all about. We are a some of the best fans in the country and are a family club, but also from a City known for its diversity. So we all know how we feel, but lets make it about the care of Kasey and his family, listening to him could be a good starting point.

and fair play for that, but these things need calling out by the decent majority amongst us

feeling bad about it and apologising after the event is one thing, but that’s not going to stop the problem - and it does seem your club has it pretty bad at the minute…

anyway, let’s just hope the individual and club are dealt with accordingly and both get what they deserve

you referred to me (I assume) as an idiot, for pointing out there’s a bigger problem? have you seen the whole of their Kop singing to KP after he’s obviously in some distress and clearly points out he’s been subject to monkey gestures?

have you also seen the various posts regarding the recurring incidents of racism from their club over the years?

I don’t agree with you that 99.9% of their fans are decent (although a large majority probably are) and I’m entitled to my view - if you don’t agree with it then you’re entitled to yours, but to call someone an idiot for calling out racism is not cool

What was happening even before the monkey chants was a disgrace.

There was racism before that as heard on fan vlogs and the whole feral "get the bastard off the pitch" stuff was shocking. You then had stuff thrown both at our players and coins at our fans.

I've heard people from the smaller South Yorkshire towns such as Barnsley and Rotherham comment on how many people in Coventry aren't white but I did truly think Sheffield was different.

I accept it is not all Sheffield Wednesday fans but it was an eye opener.

Don't get it. Why do people align themselves so closely with fans of their own clubs, when 99% of them will be complete strangers? You're not automatically the same as all other Cov fans because you support the same club. There will be a large number of non-racists in the Coventry fan base, and there will be a large number of non-racists in the Wednesday fan base. There is definitely racists in both fan bases, as we know it's a huge problem in football itself. Why are you trying to gain some sort of moral high ground, based on the club you support?

It's so sad that in 2024, racism is still live and kicking.

There were some people around us on the North who were giving their Japanese player grief all game. Not the kind of people you could have a reasonable conversation about it either, if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately, it seems to be getting worse and worse.

Taken from their board, posted by one of the decent fans.

It looks like Kasey wasn't the only player targeted by their 'fans', maybe Saka just didn't understand what was said, but it really is unacceptable this behaviour is seemingly commonplace.

me? wind your neck in pal, when did I try and gain any moral high ground and when did I ever ‘align myself’ or try and say Coventry City are any better?

I’ve actually made a post earlier on the forum stating exactly the opposite, and that we can’t claim ‘holier than thou’ off the back of even one racist incident (the problem pre-match at Stoke a year or two ago).

You’ve just made yourself sound like a massive prick here, because the point of my post was calling out the racism that seems to exist at Sheffield Wednesday, over an extended period of time and highlighted by the events on Saturday. Don’t try and make it something it isn’t - and if you don’t have anything constructive to say on the subject then jog on

You're giving the Wednesday fan on this thread a hard time because the club he supports has a history of racism. So what do you want him to do? Support another club? He feels annoyed and angry about what's happened, so he's come on here to offer an apology which he doesn't owe. I'm assuming he didn't racially abuse anyone, so he doesn't owe anyone an apology and certainly doesn't owe anyone on here an apology.

There are obviously going to be racists who support Coventry, no one on here owes anyone an apology on their behalf either. You don't need to highlight the issues with racism at Wednesday, it's been widely reported and also looked at by other posters on here. Focusing on the issue of racism at one club is also not going to solve the wider problems in football, or society in general.

Agreed, but he came on this thread, and whilst I’ve said fair play for the apology it’s not going to change anything is it?

I’m not aiming any abuse at him, I’ve simply pointed out there are problems at their club, but I also agree it’s a much wider issue in football, and society in general.

We are however talking on this forum / thread about the incidents on Saturday are we not? therefore my comments about Wednesday having problems are entirely in context! you only have to read the next post about Tats also being the subject of comments to see it’s not an isolated incident, on the day let alone previously!

On the subject of our club however, I have to say personally I haven’t heard or seen any racism in the years I’ve been going to games, although I am now aware of the Stoke incident. I think if you read the Wednesday threads it’s definitely something running through that club, and without highlighting it what is going to be done??

You've come across as "hostile" towards this Wednesday fan, but they agree with you. And again, he doesn't owe anyone on here an apology, so you can just let him have it without calling it out. You don't know why they're here either, it could well have affected them really badly, and they just want to talk about it.

It has been highlighted. More importantly it's been highlighted in the national media and by multiple people of influence. It's for Wednesday to sort out the culture at their own club, and for all of us to deal with the problem in football and wider society.

then go and talk about it on his forum with his fans, like you say he owes nobody an apology and nobody assumes it’s his fault so why bother?

and you could’ve left my post without commenting - yet you felt the need to? Perhaps it’s affected me badly? how do you know?

It’s just been posted here though, however I feel, or this particular Wednesday fan, is insignificant compared to KP and his family.

We ALL need to do whatever we can to call it out, and stamp it out - staying silent or thinking it’s ok because other people are dealing with it isn’t good enough I’m afraid.

I’m done with replying to you anyway now, I don’t want to detract from the issue and I’m not getting into an argument unnecessarily

The 5/6 black players who played for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday must be pissed off about it as well but they're probably used to it hearing this sort of stuff at other grounds as well

Every fanbase has a minority of racist twats, when we played Hull City a couple of seasons ago, one of their black players went down injured but didn't get free kick. When he hopped up and sprinted after the ball this city fan said behind me, "I bet he moves that fast when there's a lion after him in the jungle" I never said anything because they were both big units with tatooed necks and looked "wired up"

When I looked around, there was a mixed race City fan who looked absolutely gutted, he looked at me and I just shook my head. I wish I'd said something but with my lad in the toilet and I was on my own, they didn't look like the sort of people to take constructive criticism too well.

Is there any way we could crowd fund some massive 2 Tone banner with the city badge and some kind of message on it!

Photos are part of pre match briefings for police and stewards. There are dedicated police officers around well known football Hooligans who go to home and away matches.

There can be court orders with a requirement to report to police stations and surrender their passports in advance of international matches.

FBO are imposed by a court. So any breaches are in breach of a court order, so it normally means you go to prison.
