Should have waited

Some may be against it but maybe the club should have waited and gave the team the welcome they deserve with a full house instead of it being a total balls up.

If i cant get a ticket and then see lots of Sky blue seats on Sky Sports this weekend I will not be best pleased.

It's all well saying that now but there would have been an uproar if they planned for the Yeovil or say Preston game.

Theres still time for it to be sorted and for it to be a terrific occasion, keep the faith. Who could have even imagined being in this position 4 weeks ago?

I need 8 tickets but should I not get them, TV is the next best thing but I agree, if I see blocks of sky blue seats I'll be fuming. We have concerts etc at the Ricoh, take that had 40000 I'm led to believe. I really think SISU along with the safety advisory group to an extent are literally scoring an own goal here. It was so obvious when we returned it would be a full house.

Fair point, just find the whole saga a bit of a balls up. Let's hope the powers that be will allow more general sale tickets available

What I don't get is why sisu would purposely sell less tickets than they could?

I don't think they are doing it deliberately Nick, I just think they thought we would be looking at 15 thousand and have not made provisions for the demand all the fans said there would be.

It's not deliberate, just incompetence.

If you can think of a legitimate reason as to why the amount of tickets made available for the JPT game can't be made available now then I'd like to hear it.

More tickets will be made available. The seats not taken by ex season ticket holders will go on general and they will open the rest of the home area in the south stand. It's a short time scale to move back to the Ricoh and sort season tickets out and they probably have been surprised by demand but more tickets will be released. I know the modern world is all about instantness but sometimes you just need a little patientce. I predict a gate of about 26k with about 500 from Gillingham!!

I don't think the club have handled this very well. They really ought to have carried on selling tickets. Plenty of football clubs have stood up to unreasonable police demands in the past and they always prevail.

That said, the blame here really lies at the door of the SAG, and that is essentially the police. If people really want to get this resolved they should be hounding them on twitter and anyone at Wycombe tonight should be chewing PC Mapp's ear off.

20,000 is better than 2,000 at the Sixfields !

Its not all about this game, we have others after it.

I dread to think what will happen if we cram everyone in and lose, with an abject performance. We need bums on seats all season, not just for the return. The way its been handled is no shock at all, we are talking about SISU here, but we are home !

6000 empty seats when demand is there to fill them is frankly shite.

All this with the police though, not all games have a police presence anyway. Lots of games it's just left to the stewards.

Under normal circumstances would Cov v Gillingham be a policed game?

Many on here were saying that it wouldn't be a sell out and we'd get nearer to 20k. If the club thought the same, does that make a number of posters as incompetent??

It's also about the SAG making sure there are enough medical staff, police etc on duty to cope with a major event. Normally events with 25k are in diary for a long time and planning is in place, they don't spring up with a 2 week notice. Anyone who thinks the club wants empty seats is a complete tool .... They are controlled by the SAG

Uh? They'll all see it anyway, it's on TV. Not sure how limiting the attendance Friday can possibly impact positively on 'bums on seats' for the rest of the season, whatever the result.

There is no way of justifying this shambles. Anyhow, just hope we see some common sense today.

Really? How much notice was there for the Chelsea FA Cup tie? And which is easier to police, Cov - Chelsea with 5500 away fans, or Cov - Gillingham with a following of 200. I do agree though, that this is entirely down to the SAG and the club are probably as frustrated as we are.

What doesn't help is the amount of people buying 8 tickets. Call me old fashioned but I suspect plenty of these go once or twice a season and Gillingham at a tenner is this season's go to game.

Why doesn't it help? It is just indicative of the demand for this game, and of course it is the go to game, that's a given. None of this has any relevance to the farcical south stand situation.

The bit that doesn't help is that people who don't normally bother are getting tickets, therefore making the farce with the south stand more prevalent. Fair play to them, I hope they enjoy it, but I'm just narked that it looks like I'm going to miss out. Hopefully they'll leave some tickets left for Yeovil.......

If SISU didn't think that demand wouldn't be there for a sell out for the first game back which is emotionally charged then they really are clueless. Seriously, as if we would only sell around 15k for the first game back when fans have been deprived of watching the team for 500 odd days. I still think though that come Friday evening the seats situation will be sorted.

Nick originally the club said the north stand would be closed every game unless demand meant they had to open it.
Do you think they are being charged less rent if they do not open the north stand, no catering staff, no food stewards police etc?
Now they have opened the north stand and not the south?
You want your home fans behind one goal surely?...

If they announced the Ricoh return and then said 'we'll still be playing the Gillingham game at Sixfields because we won't be fully prepared for demand yet' I'm sure that would have been accepted as a sensible solution by people.

Well the SAG are acting like incompetent, over cautious, occasion ruining arseholes then ! Just get on with it you tools, half the crowd will be kids at a quid a ticket anyway !

All the city fans who can't get a ticket, just go and buy them in the 4000 Gillingham end.

See how the SAG likes that.
