Sheffield Wednesday "on the pitch" (7 Viewers)

Yes ours went on for many years but from when we went down to League 2 we improved each season until we reached the playoffs for the first time. And even then we came as close as you could ever get to getting to an FA cup final.

With Sheffield Wednesday it has happened so quickly and so badly. In hardly any time they've gone from being a very well supported football club to not owning their own ground and not having the money to pay the wages. They have an owner refusing to sell. They collect transfer embargoes for fun.

The FL gave Chansiri the OK to take over but it wouldn't stop them from kicking them out of the FL like they did with Bury. It's about time they grew a pair and try to do something about the situation.
His money also got them into the playoffs early on. Fans have short memories, just as the Lesta fans do about the owner’s family who gifted hundreds of millions to the club. People all want owners who will pump endless money in, bring in the good times and want none of it back.

For the most part this is a fantasy and with Sheff Weds we have a reminder that when you’re reliant on a tycoon’s generosity or fortunes, you’re dicing with the devil. In any case a white knight will soon appear and they’ll be on their way back up. Nearly always happens, and always does happen to clubs of that size.

Clubs that have been in the PL in recent years have significantly more followers than us so clearly they are not just followed by their own fans.

Example:

Southampton 1.5M
Coventry 205K

Similar size cities, one club, almost identical average attendance.

Southampton do not have 7.5 times more fans than us.

Please, make this all end!

As I said before, other abandoned games were lower league with small away followings.

I'm not convinced many of the near 4000 away fans paying £35 will be happy.
Plus travel expenses. We also have a fair amount of dickheads that travel like most clubs especially when larger allocations and general sale were available. I can see this kicking off big time as no love loss between the clubs either.

Gone are the days when they had 23k crowds at The Dell

Our demise was so long and drawn out that at one point I felt like giving up on football completely.

Before the Robins era we had only finished in the top 10 of any division something crazy like 3 times in 30 years .

And when sisu took over for the first 10 years it got progressively worse and more depressing .

Just reading posts like this about how shit it was is nightmare inducing.
It really was crap.
