Yes ours went on for many years but from when we went down to League 2 we improved each season until we reached the playoffs for the first time. And even then we came as close as you could ever get to getting to an FA cup final.

With Sheffield Wednesday it has happened so quickly and so badly. In hardly any time they've gone from being a very well supported football club to not owning their own ground and not having the money to pay the wages. They have an owner refusing to sell. They collect transfer embargoes for fun.

The FL gave Chansiri the OK to take over but it wouldn't stop them from kicking them out of the FL like they did with Bury. It's about time they grew a pair and try to do something about the situation.

His money also got them into the playoffs early on. Fans have short memories, just as the Lesta fans do about the owner’s family who gifted hundreds of millions to the club. People all want owners who will pump endless money in, bring in the good times and want none of it back.

For the most part this is a fantasy and with Sheff Weds we have a reminder that when you’re reliant on a tycoon’s generosity or fortunes, you’re dicing with the devil. In any case a white knight will soon appear and they’ll be on their way back up. Nearly always happens, and always does happen to clubs of that size.

Clubs that have been in the PL in recent years have significantly more followers than us so clearly they are not just followed by their own fans.

Example:

Southampton 1.5M
Coventry 205K

Similar size cities, one club, almost identical average attendance.

Southampton do not have 7.5 times more fans than us.

Please, make this all end!

As I said before, other abandoned games were lower league with small away followings.

I'm not convinced many of the near 4000 away fans paying £35 will be happy.

Plus travel expenses. We also have a fair amount of dickheads that travel like most clubs especially when larger allocations and general sale were available. I can see this kicking off big time as no love loss between the clubs either.

Our demise was so long and drawn out that at one point I felt like giving up on football completely.

Before the Robins era we had only finished in the top 10 of any division something crazy like 3 times in 30 years .

And when sisu took over for the first 10 years it got progressively worse and more depressing .

SWFC players to be paid late for September apparently

Is there a possibility the game does not happen at all Saturday? I wouldn't be playing if I kept getting paid late

I don't have a problem with them protesting but they don't have my backing because of what has happened in recent years.

The one thing I am against is them invading the pitch and getting the game called off. Our supporters will have spent a fair bit of money with tickets and travel to go to the game. But anything else is fair play.

Certainly, although fans eventually left the pitch. It seems Wednesday fans will not be leaving when told.

they'll likely not even go on the pitch in any real numbers, bans and possible arrests will see to that.

Does the owner give enough of a shit to get a ton of extra stewards and security in to stop a pitch invasion?

If Wednesday fans keep highlighting their plans, the EFL could step in before the game and say it's not safe to play. Coventry City may also push that point.

No but the EFL, FA CCFC may consider it unsafe to play prior to the match.

Advertising that a pitch invasion will happen and specifically choosing one game was silly from Wednesday fans.

None of their supports groups seem to have reached out to Coventry fans who may have joined in with any other types of protests.

By advertising their plans is a clever way forward:
Highlights the grievance nationally
Gets a lot of coverage prior to and during game. I’m sure Sky will be hoping for it to happen
Puts pressure on the owner, the whole club, both teams, the stewards and police…and most importantly the efl. Will they respond before the game (threaten or try and placate)
Everyone will be waiting for the pitch invasion…first minute, last minute and everywhere in between. But of course it might not actually happen.

Said it numerous times
This is NOT good for us.
It will 100% be in the players minds when they have to make a run for it dodging numerous SW fans.
It will be really hard not to be distracted by this.

It will but I think it will be a handful.

There's still plenty of Wednesday fans who are still paying for food and drink in the stadium despite calls for a boycott.

They've advertised it to all and sundry so the chances of anybody bar the players and officials getting on to the pitch is slim

why would it bother our players and not theirs? someone comes on the pitch the stewards get the off, same as always.

if loads come on the ref takes the players off the pitch.

Some fans are very silly.
Away players much more likely to be targeted for any "silliness" than home players.

Considering their whole motto for protest is "black and gold until it's sold" youd think they would at the least sent a few messages to supporters groups saying "hey guys, you know we're up shit creek, fancy getting as many of your lads as possible to put on your black and gold kit from last year"
But nope, not so much as a fart.
One of few clubs that can actually relate to them...

Why would Wednesday fans know what our 3rd kit from last season looks like? I wouldn't have a clue what colour any of their kits other than the home shirt were.

He comes from a rich family. He took a massive gamble and lost. He isn't rich himself. From what I've heard he invested other people's money and lost it. He then mortgaged what he can get his hands on. His family are ashamed of him.

But I agree with the rest.

Sheffield Wednesday players told they will not be paid on time again

Sheffield Wednesday players are told they will not be paid on time for a fifth month out of seven, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.
www.bbc.co.uk

And here they go again. They rely on younger players on lower wages yet these players never know if/when they will get paid. I was wrong when I said there was 3 embargoes in place. It's now 5 and with more sanctions predicted after not getting paid on time again tomorrow.

They can't afford to pay the wages. How could they afford to have enough police and stewards to totally cover the boundary of the stands and where would all this manpower suddenly come from? And once they start getting on the pitch the job would change from stopping them to removing them which would then make it easier for the rest to get on the pitch.

The players are one thing, but the non playing staff will need their wages much more urgently and missed payments will hit them harder.

No evidence they haven't paid the police, they have to be able to pay police to host matches. They've not had any matches cancelled.

Im pretty sure there's an obligation to have x amount of police otherwise the event will be deemed unsafe and wont go ahead. Whether there'll be enough to stop if it is a mass invasion is another thing.
