There was respect between the two clubs after the death of their supporters on the way home from a match.
In recent years, Wednesday fans have been dreadful. I've never cringed as much as hearing Palmer getting booed a week after being racially abused. It was embarrassing from them.
However, plenty of our fans were furious with Sheffield United fans for the way they responded to our protests with the pitch invasions. It's a little hypocritical if we do the same. Although I stand by our situation at the time was far worse than anything Wednesday are facing.
Said everything I was about to type. That Sheff U response still wrangles with me.
Think we should support them. There would be idiots of our own fanbase (and every teams) that would’ve booed Palmer in the same situation sadly. Shouldn’t tarnish a whole fanbase.
It is a good time to be playing Wednesday, as later in the season they might be in a better position with possibly their Chairman gone. Playing them midweek in the middle of Winter would prrobably make the game more difficult for us.
I've no problem with them protesting and understand why they are doing so, but we really don't want the game called off.
Here's what will happen;
Protest planned - our players playing with that on their minds and worrying about hoards of Weds fans piling onto the pitch.
SW go ahead, get the crowd going - go on to win the game and then they protest after the game!
So, after my boy being denied the opportunity of his first away game (Millwall in the cup) by the unscrupulous actions of the kitten drowning, old aged pensioner door step conning activities of the point farming community who lurk in the shadows of our otherwise magnificent support, I ear mark this fixture (especially with the early kick off being a factor - as day light is an adversary to the social habits of the aforementioned)
I now find that this fixture may well end in disappointment owing to the undoubted third party sponsored aiding and abetting of the - yep, aforementioned.
Thanks a lot you utter shower.
