Rushworth was steady.
Thomas and lati blocked after a very dodgy start.
Emc , early booking, not a good game but 2 assists
Wright, again had a couple of chances first half but a great finish
Rudoni, constantly gave the ball away but a great header
Mve, out of position constantly
Grimes and Frank quiet
Saka quiet too

A scrappy performance but the best result of the season, even better than QPR at home.

Resilient display
Back 5 were well organised and competed for everything
Grimes and Onyeka struggled first half but battled and held their shape
Front four were very ordinary first half but second half showed just how good all of them are . And importantly coming back into form at the right time .
Also all the subs kept the tempo up and got us over the line

Really hard to score at the moment. We aren’t playing great but we’re digging in and producing what we need. Rushworth was excellent again. Easily PotS barring a nightmare end of the season.

Very difficult to rate as it was a game of two halves for most.

Rushworth did well.
MVE erratic and positionally all over the place.
CBs were largely solid again.
Dasilva defended well and had some good moments with the ball.
Saka worked hard and helped with defence. Put himself about a bit as well.
Grimes and Onyeka weren't great first half but more composed in the second.
Rudoni genuinely awful first half, lost the ball and overplayed constantly, but better second and well taken goal.
EMC very restricted at times but two assists. Brilliant ball in for Rudoni.
Wright caused problems.

BTA - played well. Thought he helped a lot with defence when we sat back.
Eccles - some good moments but kept on giving away silly fouls.

The rest N/A

@Nick You mentioned something on the match thread about scheduling handjobs?
Is it a give or take situation, or both?
Are you providing refreshments afterwards or beforehand?

Thank God you lot aren't our manager.

I missed the game tonight, as I was at a gig, so just been catching up now.

Half you would have subbed Rudoni at half time. 😂 The bloke who went on to score the winning goal

Nice one!!! FL surely kept him on because he knew he could be a match winner.

Keep to the day jobs and let the manager manage. 🤪😁🤣

Rushworths command of his area and Teflon handling made me think of my dads stories about Jim Blyth, early Bill Glazier and watching Peter "The Cat" Bonetti against us. He has a tremendous reach, those arms just come out like a spiders limbs.

The timing of his punch to take the ball off Bamford's head was something special.
I think his glove must have put a parting in his hair.

FotMob ratings, which I largely agree with:

PlayerRating
Carl Rushworth7.0
Milan van Ewijk7.2
Bobby Thomas7.0
Joel Latibeaudiere7.4
Jay Dasilva6.8
Frank Onyeka6.1
Matt Grimes7.1
Tatsuhiro Sakamoto7.5
Jack Rudoni7.3
Ephron Mason-Clark8.2
Haji Wright7.3

Would say that whilst I agree it wasn't Onyeka's best game, I dont think he was a full mark lower than Grimes. Thought both were below bar.

EMC was also under par but stats wise, his rating goes up significantly by 2 assists.

1st Half was a strange display. We were sloppy in the final third but also looked dangerous. 2 great chances for Haji. Our defence was heroic with the last ditch challenges but we were gifting Sheff Utd their chances. 2 poor clearances from Lati & EMC (led to 2). Poor goal to concede, MVE lost his man and Thomas was easily wrong-footed. Then the shot got a deflection once Rushworth had dived. From that moment on we were brilliant. Simms & Eccles both excellent off the bench. I thought Onyeka was slightly underpar compared to the last 2 games. He lost a few 50-50's in the first half that he would of won against Boro & WBA.
Although EMC was clearly not at his best (still. 2 assists), but i thought Rudoni was bright throughout even before the goal .

What a strange game indeed. Worth getting back at 2.30am for!

Agree with most of the ratings...but imo we have just gone to away to the toughest away game in the league. They look better on the eye test more dangerous than any other team imo. Fantastic win!

Frank could have made cahnges earlier as Eccles has been immense seeing out the last 3 games. And has been unlucky to be dropped sin e QPR.

Onyeka wasnt at his best but without him it would have been another game we lose..so his importance in the jigsaw is vital. Looked a bit tired.

FotMob frequently puts JDS as one of our weaker players, which I usually agree with to be honest. I thought last night he was very good though. It was a hard shift out there.

Sakamoto for me was our best player. I know he didn't score, but the work rate was ridiculous. Someone was moaning at half time that he wasn't doing anything and I wondered what match they were watching. He went out and gave everything.

Rushworth faultless.

Lati absolutely superb. MvE and Dasilva very good.

Despite overall Wright, EMC and Rudoni having poor games, their actions won it for us. Players that have the ability to turn a game in a moment.

Wright was a threat to their defence all night. You can see the difference when Simms comes on. We lose most attacking threat

I thought he didn't make the most of a couple of good situations. I thought he played better at West Brom, where he had far less action around the goal.

But even whilst not at his best, he got the crucial goal; that's what you need.
