I'm no expert on Scottish football... But to the one's that are... What are the differences in ability between Shankland & the £2m signing Dykes... Who Barnsley went big for but got done by QPR.

Shankland is a better finisher, Dykes isn't very good either and last year only scored 9 spl goals. His Scottish championship record is not good as well. Why he would of been picked up by someone is he offers more as a big lump style target man.

Ok so we have had scouts watching him? And probably still have, while they are watching other Scottish talent.

Even with Walker coming in, we will still keep tabs on his progress. What if Godden has a cracking season and people come in for him?

You always have to have irons in the fire. Scouting doesn't mean a deal is imminent.

Im sure no one will complain if we do sign him. He looks like a great talent.

We still need more fire power and I would expect if we do bring this guy in someone to leave.

its exciting times being a Cov fan at the moment

I can see us strengthening. Such a strange position we find ourselves in without a stadium to maintain. Robins boddy Seppalla take a bow

On it being Shankland is just a hunch, but been told a few times the past few days we are in the market for a permanent forward. Would imagine Baka or Max will leave.

Sadly our scouts were tied up elsewhere so we sent Clive.

Looks like there could be, as for those worried about budget and affordability Mark Robins must be one of the most responsible managers finance wise in the game if he brings someone in permenant or loan it will be within his budget. In Robins I trust.

If we sign this guy I will genuinely believe we can make the playoffs only one thing better and that would be adding Walsh as well!

Anyone else get the feeling Robins wants two up front this season and a more traditional 352?

In all honesty it’s not going to happen. We have a scout up there watching the game. We have scouts watching all sorts of games all the time. We’ve spent money on Walker so can’t see us spending more money on another striker.

We are probably scouting numerous potential targets at any one time. People need to ask themselves who is most likely to leek the info to the press.
With the transfer window just a couple of weeks away, it's most likely to be the players agent that has tipped off the press about interest in his player, in order to try and get his player a move up the football pyramid, and himself a fat check at the same time.

I'll sit tight and let MR and his recruitment department work their magic when they seem fit.

Well we’re guessing a lot but general rumours is Hamer about £1.3m Hilßner a couple of hundred K, Walker just under a million. So if we spent another £1m on a striker we’d have spent just under £2m on strikers and just under £2m on other players. So about half

I think I remember seeing Boddy saying that we were budgeting for most the season to be behind closed doors anyway so I think whether we sign this guy or not we have been careful within a budget that was on the safe side of things in regards to fans returning etc. Will be interesting to see if this happens or not.

But we have received 10/15% depending what you believe of £17 million plus some money for Westbrooke and not counting what we have received so far for McCallum so money has come in too. As I’ve said earlier if MR has let’s say another million quid left he won’t spend over that. Window closes in a fortnight if he decides to spend upto his last penny that’s upto him.
In Robins I trust.

Westbrooke went for virtually nothing but a sell on I thought. McCallum £1.5m though maybe less as we keep loaning him back, £2.55m from Wilson.

So basically we’ve spent what we earned if we drop another £1m. Though of course we’ve potentially got £600k to spend on Sheaf come the end of the season.

I heard from within the club that much of the McCallum money had completely dried up by July and was used primarily to cover running costs and pay the players once they came off furlough.

Also, transfers are almost never paid completely upfront so undoubtably we would have structured the fees paid for Hamer, Walker, and when the time comes, Sheaf in instalments to be paid over the course of 2-3 seasons.

So, it's not quite as simple as spending what we've earned.

Yeah I expect it did. I don’t think it is transfers in = transfers out. It’s always been based on the budget given by Sisu as AFAIK we’ve never been self sustaining and still aren’t.

I was saying at the start that £2m is about half our budget and that was worked out on what we’d spent. Then Magwitch said it was more cos we have money in and I was just pointing out that even by that metric it was still about £4m.
