Would have liked to see him get a game.

I agree I would like to have seen him too! I've heard he is pretty quick around the box - oh that must have been it - he was that quick nobody saw him!!!!!!

Definitely would have better to put him on the park than play with just the 10 men we went with today.

Odd decision for sure.

Le Fondre looked twice the player, more physical, works hard and gets involved in the build up.

Was very disappoint with Cody today as thought he looked promising against Ipswich. He did have very little service though.

He hardly touched the ball for the entire 90 mins. Le Fondre was pretty quiet but he still looked a lot more dangerous than Cody.

I am just crossing my fingers and hoping that we have yet to see the real Cody McDonald.

Plan C is an 11 year old girl from the Sky Blues' Ladies academy and Plan D is Rory O'Donovan.

I did say that Roy was proven at a higher level (L1) than Cody (L2). So far, he looks a much better player than Cody IMO!

Not being funny, but le fondra had a full pre season and started the season with Rotherham !! Cody has played like 180 mins of footy in 5 months and no pre season! For me
He needs the match fitness every one else on the park has!

McSheffrey has about as much gametime under his belt and was 10 times the player Cody was today. When will that excuse stop-when he's gone 5 games without a goal, maybe 10? Will he be fit enough then to be classed as rubbish?

It look to me like he has spent most of the pre-season eating Delia Smit's pies. He makes Eastwood look like a super model. More to come? I hope it's less.

I agree about the match fitness, I knew he hadn't played this season but hadn't realised he'd not had a pre season.

From what i've seen I dont see McDonald as anything special at all. Subbed three times in three starts is terrible despite him being behind the others in fitness.

Looks a dissapointment at the moment and cant see him starting on Tuesday.

I'd drop him for Roy, but I think I'm alone in that. Thorn will stick with him as that would be admitting he's bought a duff, and hope that he just needs fitness-and we do lack alternatives.

Just a glimpse of quality would be nice..first touch is atrocious, and fitness won't improve that..and I thought he was meant to be fast?

I was just goin to say exactly the same thing. People need to stop with the comparisons. ALF was never coming here. He's more or less said that in the press interviews recently. So what we didnt get him? Move on; he has!

Give it a few weeks n Cody will get his first goal n fans will think hes our saviour and will start spouting about how he'll be our 20 goal a season striker (not all fans admittidly but you will get some; im sure of it)

We don't have a yo-yo club, but we have yo-yo fans! Sadly I think we may have yo'd without a yo-yo back this time...but we do have some optimists left-why, just this week someone on here made a comparison between Lukas-Cody and Wallace-Ferguson! :claping hands::claping hands::facepalm:

Yes. Two more games and we can all stand united and say 'Cody McDonald is RUBBISH'. No overreaction or hyperbole. No rashly formed opinions to be had here. We may have a horrible waste of time up front, but at least we have a brilliant fan or two

Talking of comparisons, someone reminded me today that after a few Carl Baker performances, he was compared to Tommy Hutchinson

Far too early to be writing him off. Did ok at ipswich and only prevented from scoring by great goal line clearance - today was up against better defence and looked jaded - 3 games in quick succession with little training may have caught up with him. But Platt and ROD are playing 2 leagues above their ability, Eastwood is simply a disgrace to just team and profession so he is the best option we have. Beggars can't be choosers and under SISU we are reduced to being beggars.

Gould compared McPake to Curtis, but I think he just meant he had a broken leg...

I don't mean that, I like McPake. Just wish he could stay fit, we need him.

I don't think we should be giving Cody a hard time, he can't score goals if getting no service and yes he isn't match fit, that's why he has been subbed 3 times, give him a chance for gods sake!

OK but as I said before, how many games is enough to start saying "OK, he's fit..still aint scored..mmm, maybe he's just crap?" If it isn't 3, is it 5? 10? In his interview he said that he'd been told "it can take a player who has missed preseason games until Christmas to catch up with the rest". So I guess we give him 15 games before judging him? Good luck with getting that kind of patience if we are in the bottom 4 still by then.

Hes had no preseason & has only been able to play 60mins. Only our fans would turn on a young player this soon. Half this clubs problem is its fans making scapegoats of everyone who are having a bit of a hard time!

YEs lads remember where your anger should lie ,he had a quiet game ,could have scored one ,had mcsheff not blighted his perfect game and squared to cody alone in the box instead of selfishly shooting wide.at least ten games allowed before we raise doubts ,you know we're not the greatest of fans ,it was like a morgue in there today ,even after that blisterng start ,we got three choruses from block 15-16 and that was it ,all these rational fans sitting on their hands, apethetic lightweights ,get behind you're team for gods sake .

Yes he got chances against Ipswich but that was more down to poor defending on there behalf, in the other 2 games he barely had a sniff of goal. I don't think we should be writing him off to early, he isn't match fit and last year with King we saw how important match fitness was as he didn't really get going to February time. Obviously there situations are hugely different but match fitness is important.
I also don't agree with excuses like "he didn't get the service" if your good enough you will score goals as King proved last year.

I would take him out the side for Tuesday and use him as a sub for 30 mins or so as the longer he doesn't score the more the pressure will mount up on him. I guess I would go with Platt or Eastwood.

Well what we needed was a bit of protest action-that got the fans going against both Watford and Derby, which were the best atmospheres at the Ricoh I have ever known!

One thing, if we had to sell a player to buy a player why didn't we sell at the beginning of July rather than the end of August ?? Doing so would have gave Cody a full pre season !!! Thorn watched Cody alot last yr, so he def knows what he is about, sadly it's going to take abit longer for him to get up to full speed !
