Pete I get you talk to Boddy and others. You come across as a great fan and decent guy. But please don’t think they are being honest and open with you.
When you are mixing in their world, the truth is the last thing you want to be telling.

You really talk some shit if you think the decision was made solely by those above Boddy and Fisher. As CEO and Chairman I think they would have been involved some how.

Think the Hull defence just marshalled him well really

If this is true why didn’t they accept Middlesbrough’s offer? Why didn’t they accept Burnley’s offer. I expect the club has over extended itself when they offered the new contracts mid season expecting it would generate higher offers. They then appear to have played hard ball with the offers all of which the fans supported but the higher offers haven’t come in. If it was Rose I don’t imagine the feelings would be the same trouble is Rose’s value at present is no where near Hyam’s

What is the Middlesboro offer?

And you are living in a dream world if you don’t think Joy makes all the big decisions.

I realise that we still have a few days left of the window so this thread may come back to bite me however at the start of the summer if you said we would sell Hyam and keep O’hare, Hamer and Gykores I’m pretty sure most of us would have taken it

So, why the outcry ?

Is it because

The defence has started off poorly (despite being poor for a couple of seasons) ?
We have started the season poorly ?
Hyam has been here for 5 years and there is a loyalty towards him ?
He is a genuinely good player and we will miss him ?
The perceived poor valuation and lack of reinvestment ?
The (as we speak) lack of experienced signings made this window ?
We all remember that we hate SISU despite not hearing an anti SISU song for 2 years ?
We all hate Wasps and everything is there fault ?

Because £1.5m doesn’t touch the sides of what we need so we’ll have to sell someone else, at which point why sell Hyam?

Yeah it’s almost as if everyone is wrong saying why he’s been sold and at what cost

Panic. O'Hare was more than likely on his way prior to his injury and with that sale dead in the water and interest in Hamer and Gyokeres going cold the club likely jumped at the chance to push the sale through as the need for cash is clearly verging on the desperate.

The sale of Gyokeres or Hamer is in itself a different entity altogether than Hyam. Hyam is likely being sold to plug short term cashflow issues as well as perhaps contribute on transfer instalments and the next sale - which will either be made in the next few days or at best January - will be used to make up the shortfall this season due to operational costs exceeding turnover.

Worrying we can’t access short term finance for this sort of thing. In an ideal world Hamer and O’Hare would’ve gone for £15m between them and Joy gets her pound of flesh and Robins gets a budget to reinvest.

It’s pure bad luck one hasn’t come off and possibly bad valuation/negotiation the other hasn’t. But we need to learn from that and move forward accordingly not immediately be thrown into talk of the club folding because one window didn’t pay off. That was always a risk, it shouldn’t be knocking us off course.

That it is is because we’ve got no buffer between the transfer activity and the debts needing paying. Which is weird cos most of it is to Sisu. Think I’m right in saying a season long interest fee holiday would roughly bring in what Hyam is going to.

So what’s your saying is Hamer would go for maximum 4million and ohare for 11million, even that much for hamer we would be lucky. me personally i believe that the big 3 consists of Gyko, Ohare and hyam and unlucky we’ve lost our main cb, who normally feeds vik, hence his off game yesterday, it might take a couple of games for him to get into the swing of things without having his big scottsman behind him.

So Robins says the decision is made at Board level and who chairs the Board Fisher that’s why he’s called the Chairman

There isn’t a board to chair - it’s him

Middlesbrough made an offer in June which was immediately rejected. Middlesbrough asked what sort of figure would Coventry deal at they were told and went away. A couple of weeks later Wilder is quoted as saying he can’t believe the figures they have been quoted for strikers in the Championship.

Dave’s probably been on the phone to them all week begging them to come back in for him, just like he did with Blackburn and Hyam.

We haven’t had an asset as valuable as Gyokeres in more than 20 years. If we’re not going to cash in on that when he’s at peak value then we better have a damn good reason for it, and I haven’t seen a good explanation yet - especially given how skint we are and how weak the rest of the squad is.

This has to be up there with “hillsner will be challenging O Hare for the number 10 shirt”

Time will tell. Can't think why we would bring him here otherwise? But you have your opinion Grendel, I'm sure MR's got him here for the first team and not to just kick a football around a training pitch don't you think?

If there's truth to the rumours that he's being sent back to Palace I can't think why we brought him in either.

Not quite as ridiculous as that statement given that the loan would have come with playing time expectations. Personally looks more like a desperate effort to save a few quid
