TV’S ‘SECRET MILLIONAIRE’ COMES TO COVENTRY

Confidence Coach Sue Stone was sent to Coventry earlier this year, meeting people involved with threatened community radio station Hillz FM in Hillfields.

She also came across former drug addict and gang member Kervin Julian.

He’s now turned his life around and is working with the Salvation Army to reach out to people on the streets and try to help them tackle their demons and addictions.

Sue told Mercia she soon decided to help him create a new specialist centre for it:
“I just felt such a strong passion, and meeting the people that he helps and works with, it was very very humbling, very heartfelt.”

“It was very important when I agreed to do the programme that I was able to chose people that were involved in the bigger picture and that is resonated with me and was heartfelt.”

Sue has agreed to give long-term support to the Second Chances project.

Kervin says he had no idea who she was: “I actually thought she was going to be a big distraction to what I had to do that day so what I tried to do was palm her off to some of my team members!”

“I am not an expert on everything but what I do know is I have been able to combat, overcome alcohol and drug addiction and that is something I can share with others.”

“The bottom line is you really have to roll your sleeves up and get your hands dirty at the stuff that’s really got them in that position in the first place.

I watched it last night and thought it was a bit shit really.

Hillz FM (I have heard it a few times) were in a brand new building with state of the art equipment and they had 2 days left before they were going to be made redundant and she just so happened to turn up?

That Kervin fella who told her how he used to import illegal immigrants and smuggled loads of drugs. Fair enough he has changed his life around but it was him who got himself in the mess in the first place? Plenty of people don't get themselves in that sort of shit to be able to get themselves out of it and could do with the money a lot more (baby charities, cancer charities) but because he was smuggling drugs, being a criminal and then changed it makes him some sort of saint?

Fair play for her treating the disabled girl, I would have liked to see a lot more go her way though.

For a confidence coach the woman was really depressing all of the time. The girl in the wheelchair was a lot more quirky when she had a broken leg than she was before she had even started the undercover stuff.

Yeh, so he stopped breaking the law, congratulations. And a big pat on the back for those who haven't had to change because they never fucked up in the first place? :p

And she only gave £30k away ! Tight cow . Usually it's £200k or something on this programme .
She should have visited a skint football team in rented accommodation in Foleshill where the bailiffs keep knocking on the door and took pity on them .
A lot of respect for the girl in the wheelchair for what she does for other people though .

She was a bit dull for a confidence coach as well weren't she???

I know the lad who was living under the flyover in a tent as well. Shame what's happened to him but that's what getting into crack and smack does for ya.

I used to watch this a fair bit but you wonder if it IS staged, how many more towns and cities can they visit on the pretence the Millionaires are doing some sort of project and want to get involved in certain projects, without their cover getting blown.

Wish i had seen this one as it goes, like others have said the money could go to more deserving causes couldn't it
