Frank isn’t going anywhere - he has more to prove with us - we need a better start than last season - over the last 15 games with Robins in charge our form
Was disasterous - he’s not coming back !

Been out all day so didn’t watch the match nor have I caught up with this (or any) thread.

Sunderland winning is a bit of a ‘what could have been’ - as we really should have beaten them, especially second leg.

However, the tantrums the likes of Wilder, Campbell, Choudhury must be having, and how gutted Hamer and COH are, are all decent silver linings.

Also surely means Hamer has to move on, so more money for us.

The amount of melodrama and histrionics surrounding Sunderland on social media, as of earlier, is absolutely cringeworthy.

It’s as if no other team in the history of the football league has deserved this more.

Roll on December when they’re relegated with 3 points.

The bad thing for Sunderland is they are going to get absolutely smacked by the Mags. It will be awful for them. Cant think of many fan bases that I like less than either of them.

I think it does make it more difficult for us next season. Sheff Utd bound to be competitive at that top with the three relegated PL sides.

Great comment. Lampard literally came in with the team just above relegation zone, and he turned the tide and mentality to steer us into the play offs. A fantastic season all in all. But that's just a taste, and he's going to want a proper go at it. He didn't get to go at it from the start, and he hasn't even had a proper transfer window. Just having Frank here will open doors for us in recruitment, with players who are going to be swayed when considering clubs to join. Just hope our recruitment department gets it right this summer, with the targets they identify. Buy smart, doesn't necessarily mean spending a lot.

A fantastic season? We lost 17 games and bottled the play offs. It's been a good season and promising signs are there but it's a pivotal summer for us. Keeping Lampard is an absolute must. I agree with alot of your points, but those are based on Lampard staying. For him to stay means most of our top.players need to be retained unless he himself is happy for them to go. As an example I cannot see him reacting well if Rudoni is sold no matter how big a bid comes in for him.
Not saying you are wrong , but think the next 4-6 weeks are crucial.
He would have been made aware when he signed the business model of the club. He can't then turn round and have a tantrum if we sell a player for huge money.

Where are you expecting Lampard to go might I ask?

I think Lampards got a bit more to prove until a prem club comes after him, remember he’s only done the minimum expected of him, he was brought in to get an already top 6 squad into the play offs which we did, but then we struggled with no plan b, sunderland Changed teams for the semi’s and the final, we were just predictable, need to have options next season, especially away

Reaching POs was hardly the minimum expected of FL this season…what else was he supposed to achieve?

think you need to read it again, of course it was the minimum ? it wasn’t to Keep us up or finish mid table, king got it spot top 6 squad finished 5th,
I very much doubt he was told you’re expected to make the play-offs as a minimum last season.

Next season will be different though.

It’s what king was thinking guarantee it, Lampard did a brilliant job, but we were only 10 points off, itll be the absolute minimum again next season, quality over quantity signings and hopefully we’ll have a better chance

10 points off what?

We were 31 points off autos, no way King is going to expect us to be top 2, and he's said as much in the past.

But saying top 6 is the minimum suggest that realistically we should do more.
And closing a 31 point gap on the parachute payment teams isn't realistic in my opinion, not for Lampard, not for Robins, not for anyone managing City.
We‘ll never be a top 2 team, never said we would, the expectation every season is now top 6, we’ve done it twice in 3 seasons but we need to be better, you need to be comfortably finishing 3rd or 4th, not scraping in last game of the season, if Torp and dovin come back to the level they were at and we’ve kept Wright, Rudoni and MVE then wer‘e probably 3 quality signings of being a very good side.

They'll be 4 teams with parachute payments in the league next year. I'm not sure we'll finish comfortably above any of them.

Even if Leicester get the hefty deduction they deserve that still leaves 3.

Watford, Norwich, West Brom have all lost their parachute money and Luton have gone down, not all of the 4 teams will finish above us. We really need to hold on to our better players, start well and we could suprise a few
