Dunno why but I feel really down at Sunderland going up

I cant stand them, and don't care much fir Blades either. I just felt after the final whistle at the SOL last week, that it didnt matter, that Sheffield United would bulldoze whichever one of us it was

Feels like another huge missed opportunity
Today is exactly why we have to keep going and trying! Sunderland Absolutly shat way up! All these people saying they didn’t want to get in PO or at Wembley because we will get beat…..nonsense.

agree, feel angry, frustrated now as really dislike them and supporters. Also makes it harder next season for us as SU will be strong.

however, really do feel we are stronger as club and in best place we ever will be - funny feeling for next season - our time will come.

If it’s a massive problem we should just not bother. The system isn’t gonna change.
Nobody is saying that, just that it makes the job harder. Barring any calamities (or sizeable points deductions), you can already pretty much guarantee 4 of the Top 6 next season.

Outside of the parachute teams, we are one of the best equipped, but there will likely be one less place to play for. King said this himself in an interview the other week.

that's it for me. when we lost the semi you could take a bit of relief from the expectation that SU would win easily against us or them.

now it feels like a huge missed opportunity. the hope now is we keep everyone we want to keep and build on this season. get off to a strong start for a change and have a season long push for promotion rather than try and sneak in at the end.

Imagine how fans like Bristol, Preston, Millwall feel.
They’d kill for what we’ve been through the last 7 years.
This is along the lines of what I was going to say.

We lost to Luton on a penalty shootout lottery, Man Utd a marginal VAR decision, even against Sunderland the winner hit the bar on another day could have gone the other way.

The tiniest of margins on the big stage, and it's quite cruel. However, in order for us to get to these moments; we made a blitzing late charge to the playoffs, came back from 3-0 down and, again, to even get to Sunderland we got several last minute winners this season.

We have had one heck of a roller-coaster in recent years, and that is why we're even thinking about days like Sunderland have had today. I am almost certain, our time will come.

I get it, and the missed opportunities of this year and Luton, it does seem that the same old teams get all the ‘glory’ moments of promotion etc.

but there’s no guarantee that today would have gone our way, despite me thinking for the past couple of days that Sunderland could do it, just a feeling.

just hope next year they don’t ’do a Leeds’ and smash it along with the likes of Leicester etc

I hope they struggle to come to terms with it and the likes of Hamer move on.

Our day will come - what will be will be….

When we got those players who else was in for them? Haji i think had Hull interested. Gus Vik were unknowns really, Rudoni I don't think we beat anyone of the top clubs for, dovin the same and Grimes I don't think was looked at by any of the top 8 in this league?
What I'm saying is we must be doing something right to get these players in

20 million is less than 200 million isn't it. That's what they have now and even if they come down will have finances that blow us out the water.
Look if we keep Lampard and most of this squad and add to it then I'll be alot more cheerful. This is a good squad. Lampard is a good manager. I know rumours can often be bull shit. BUT I just have a gut feeling Lampard won't stay, and it was something in his interview after we lost that gave me that feeling tbh.
Could go get Robins back

He wouldn't come back under King (I know you are being facetious but still I thought I would respond). Also I think he had had enough anyway. That incident at Preston when he rubbed his eyes at the fans and his general demeanour this season and end of last season in hindsight says to me he wanted a new challenge. Just have to hope Lampard stays basically.
If he doesn’t I fear for us.

Fair play to Sunderland-they took their chance when it came along. During the Semifinals and Final they took their chances when they came at the right moments. Sheff Utd will be kicking themselves and it all turned on the Patterson save just before Hamer went off to stop it being 2-0 and basically game over. Will they survive-it’s unlikely.
As for us-we go again and it will be our turn soon. I can see 4 teams that will be stronger than us possibly in the Championship and the usual 7-8 suspects including us in a race for the playoffs. Keep knocking on the door and we will get through.

Sunderland’s squad was worth £140m according to this. They were close to a parachute club already.

When I quoted this on here a few weeks ago it was rubbished by a Sunderland fan. His words were "we've spent nowhere near the amount of 'money bags' coventry this season". So either he's wrong and chatting shit, or this chart is wrong. I would say the former was wrong.

Exactly how I feel. To the letter. This is a killer blow for me and I really now have concerns what the future holds. We are not wealthy. I was taking the piss out of Sunderland saying they will do a Barnsley....now I'm worried that could be us. Lose Rudoni Wright Sheaf Simms MVE (the last 4 of whom were poor when it mattered most but still are solid at this level) and replace them with less able players because we cannot pay the wages the better players at this level want any I can see us easily doing a Barnsley and Huddersfield. The Lampard lovers on here think he will stay here, I'm less confident and can see him going of he gets an inkling King won't back him getting the quality he wants, which let's face it means spending money beyond just reinvesting what we get from sales.
I am really gutted. Sunderland fans will be gloating as well. Could give a fuck about Sheff Utd never have. Only positive for me today was that Hamer and Ohare went when they did. Ohare isn't good enough and Hamer cannot stay fit at Wembley which isn't all down to bad luck i do not think so I happybwe got 15 million for him when we did.
Fucking clown. Some shit you come out with you wum.
