Scenario : would you drop to league 2 and take a new stadium ? (1 Viewer)

You go to sleep tonight and wake up having had two different dreams :

city have been relegated to league 2 with no immediate prospect of a return. There are no funds available for players BUT the owners have announced that new stadium plans have been submitted and approved by CCC for a 10,000 all seater stadium within the city boundary. With city in the 4th tier and gates expected of around 5000 the owners see no need to build a larger stadium. However, with all revenues soon set to go to the club it is envisaged that within 5 years the club will be in a stronger financial position and as such , the stadium design will enable expansion to a maximum of 22,000 in the future. Hardly prem league, but then we aren't premier league.

The other dream is that we survive in this division and are offered an extended stay at the Ricoh for another 10 years with little prospect of gaining money from match day takings. Oh and the Ricoh suddenly turns a ghastly yellow and black as if by magic at which point you wake up in a cold sweat.

I am guessing NYE is not a happy time for you?

The second dream. Although the first dream sounds better to start with at the end of the day we have dropped a division and still a shit team so conference would be likely.

I want ccfc playing at as highest level as possible and in Coventry.

Not a choice. Following the current policy of selling anyone when an offer is received and replacing them with a free transfer, loan player or a youth player will see us in league 2 in one of the next 3 seasons with sisu in charge. I am convinced reducing their losses is the only issue that concerns them with the club so they won't care.

There will be no new stadium

Of course there will. Jo and Tim said so.

And most importantly of all, so did RFC.

Wish I had whatever you guys had been drinking last night.

New stadium = 20+ million more dept on the club and somehow it will be own by one of the many SISU companies, leaving CCFC to pay rent. How does this help us?

365 day Income - What design of stadium will bring in the 365 day income we need with such low crowds? Social club, restaurant - can't see that. Maybe a brothel, now that would bring in money and be busy all year round, could get the ladies to wear SISU shirts at least we would be f@@kin them senseless rather than the other way round!

L2 - there is no evidence that we would be any more sucessfull in L2 than any other league, how many times has this club finished in the top half of a table in any of the last 30 years?

Short Term rent deal at Ricoh - won't work, no income other than ticket sales, as it stands no incentive to get promotion to Championship due to the cost of rent, so why will fans bother if L1 is the best it's going to get?

How do we move forward????, buggered if I know, will take a genius to get use moving in the right direction, and I can't see the current owners doing this. If so we need new owners, where are they, who would buy a club with no assets and mountains of debt?????

Happy New Year

Well you seemed sober enough to portray the best scenario (new ground) with the worst outcome (relegation) so probably not too worse for wear I expect.

How about a dream where we get a favorable long term deal at the Ricoh with access to some of the incomes the football generates.
We also get off our arses and look at generating our own incomes.
Pitch side advertising, corporate packages, hiring Ricoh facilities and generating incomes.
Our own offsite park and ride on matchdays. CCFC mobile food outlets around the ground.
Utilise Wasps facilities to share costs. Move the shop in with Wasps and get some stock and of decent quality. Share ticketing facilities.
Invest some of the incomes we have generated in some committed players, get winning, get up the league, get promoted and all of the above incomes increase threefold.

Stop believing this Sisu crap, stop being victims and start influencing Sisu to be more business like.

Hey now Italia, it's not Sisus fault. It's those mean Wasps with their finance and marketing and product that people want. They're cheating. Everyone knows Coventry sports teams should never bid for a stadium, never advertise and continually reduce the quality of the product and the citizens will have no choice!

Now they come here with their reasonable business practices and their advertising and start attracting customers. It's just wrong and BOO mean old council for letting it happen.

Amidoingitrite?

Here's the snag - what is 'some of the football revenues?' We're getting 'some' now which actually a lot less than we had before.

- Pitchside advertising - already do it, this will get more difficult as businesses will start to choose wasps over us, as they are on TV most weekends.
- Corporate packages - already do it
- Hire the ricoh facilities? - would have to pay the going rate, v expensive, likely not to recoup the money.
- How do you make money from hiring the ricoh facilities? Sub letting - wasps won't allow that, serving food - compass have the contract and won't allow that.
- Own off site car park and park and ride - probably would recoup the costs, too many places you can park near for a £5.
- Mobile food outlets around the ground - ACL's land, wasps/compass won't allow us to serve food on the Ricoh site outside the ground
- Share ticketing facilities - wasps use ticket master who will take a cut, with more games h/a and the Ricoh software it makes sense to keep our own.
- share shop with wasps - not a fan of this, dilutes the clubs brand (snigger snigger), there is also little footfall at the Ricoh on non matchdays, so you still need a base elsewhere anyway.

Sorry italia, some of this is already being done or is just not feasible.

So, No advantage in new stadium.

You don't really know. We don't have to pay and maintain the facilities in a new ground.
- How do you make money from hiring the ricoh facilities? Sub letting - wasps won't allow that, serving food - compass have the contract and won't allow that.
Hire the big room put on our own specific events. Again, We don't have to pay and maintain the facilities in a new ground.
- Own off site car park and park and ride - probably would recoup the costs, too many places you can park near for a £5.
It's an income
- Mobile food outlets around the ground - ACL's land, wasps/compass won't allow us to serve food on the Ricoh site outside the groundb

Move it into Tescos if that Phone shop is still available.
Sorry italia, some of this is already being done or is just not feasible
Then give up and become a victim.

As a matter of interest what additional incomes will be generated at the new stadium then, say in Brandon.

Can't see an end to the downward spiral to be honest. Sisu want to keep the club for their own reasons they won't sell unless they receive a multi million offer and their is no investment on the pitch. As long as they can put a team on the pitch for the ffp rules then their happy to tick over. If that means relegation it won't bother them their investors not football people. The only hope for the new year is that their closer to an exit now, I hate to say it but our pain will only continue with these people owning our club. On the pitch we will only loan second rate players and older mercenaries looking to pay the mortgage. Off the pitch the match day experience gets worse, as does the club shop, in a way the shop is a barometer for where we are, no decent stock, no money to get any and shop keepers that haven't got a clue. The only thing that will break the cycle is investment, Sisu have no money for this so my hope for 2015 is a simple one. Liquidate and move on, rip the last bits of saleable assets from us and leave and let us start again with owners and fans that want to return us up the league, and take your pie in the sky stadium with you.

Buy the Rowleys Club site. Redevelop the club into the "Sky Blue Bar" . Offer car parking on match days etc . Put the club shop in there.
Everyone would be in there before the game and after the game run offers while showing the match again or Premier League on Sky etc.
Would take a lot of revenue off the Ricoh I think and all profit is the clubs .
Just an idea :thinking about:

Good idea but I can only see the money going to Sisu, they asset strip they only invest other people's money.

There are lots of ideas to generate incomes and be at the Ricoh.
That's just one of them.

Can't believe people buying into Sisu logic without actually seeing the evidence.
Unless we dismiss them outright this will not move on.

We are all victims of the football Sisu are dishing up for us.
Lots have 'left us' already.:(

This is about the future of where we play and whether we believe Sisu crap or not.
