For the 1,645th time, it wasn't Boxing Day.

We were away to Villa on Boxing Day.

We played Norwich on Dec 27th.

Sorry.

I must be a Wasps fan.

I also don't recall anything about Wallace's goal or anything flashed up on the scoreboard.

I am now thinking I couldn't have been there.

And why the 1,645th time? Tad worrying that you are counting. Is it from a dungeon and with you scratching notches on the wall with a piece of loose masonry?

Funny how these threads turn into arguments, about sisu and owners, its not about that they will be gone one day, its about the academy that i dont want to be gone one day, and how do we save it, and getting the big brains on here to come up with stuff.

Please, Please, Please.
Keep this thread on the subject, we need as many people to sign it as possible so we can put a case to all parties.
Take your bickering and arguments elsewhere and lets fight to try and keep our Academy!!

I've signed it, but I still fear its impact will be negligible.

It's not that I'm OCD about this......

It's just that people keep saying that it was on Boxing Day - AND IT WASN'T!!!!!!

I'm just off for a lie down.

I think all the parties already know how important it is. I'm not sure a petition will change a thing.

To put into English what the CT didn't manage - There is no specific target for this - the intention is to show to those who have it within their remit to save the academy, and keep it going, that the fans care. If the powers that be think that fans don't care and won't kick up a fuss they will do as they please and stuff the few objectors. This is aimed at CCFC, CSF, Wasps and indirectly CCC. It is not about allocating blame or finger pointing or digging up history but about forcing those who can to come up with a workable solution for the future of the academy. All parties have been spoken too by the Trust and all have said its important and they are willing to work together but as ever actions speak louder than words. Personally I feel that 1000 signatures isn't great - the CT covered it briefly and the Cov Observer have for whatever reason ignored it altogether. Maybe supporters don't quite grasp the seriousness of the situation and its consequences for the future of our club?

It's because they've launched their own campaign. All part of Mr Impartial, Les Reid's masterplan I've no doubt.

http://coventryobserver.co.uk/news/save-city-new-campaign-coventry-city-f-c-academy-stadium/

It does mention the Trust's twitter campaign ID.

He's not impartial he's defending the club. Somewhat more honourable than the stance deployed by other media outlets.

You seem incapable of differentiating between the club and the owners. Also, his job as a journalist is to be impartial and report all sides of the story. I'm glad that you've agreed he's not impartial though.

No I don't.

To quote from the article.
"In 2014, then ‘London Wasps’ were gifted the Ricoh Arena by Coventry City Council and Alan Edward Higgs Charity on a huge 250-year lease not offered to the Sky Blues it was built for – a decision involving taxpayers’ money rightly open to legal challenge."
Gifted? Incorrect. Legal challenge? Yes, but that has failed multiple times, but not mentioned. In fact, to mention the Stadium deal at all in relation to the Academy is disingenuous as the two issues are not interlinked other than by the parties involved.

The campaign from the Observer differs from that of the SBT because it makes it clear that there is a bias by leaving out important details that would provide balance. I'm all for the Public's voice being heard here, but back to my original comment, who does the petition get delivered to and who needs to act on it? At the moment, only one party has failed to lay out a plan of action and that's the CCFC board and owners.

So WAS the Ian Wallace goal a "spectacular " overhead kick.

Did the display on the scoreboard say 5 - 5 . Or was it "oh no"

So you don't agree with the campaigns core objective of putting the football club as the leading sports club in Coventry? That's strange.

Given that the football club were offered half share of ACL for more money than wasps paid for the whole of the company and a six times increase in the lease I would say "gifted" is a fair assessment. Why don't you?

As for your original point is wasn't really about the petition - you took up two threads discussing the amount of contribution the club had made and claimed promises were broken. That wasn't anything to do with the petition.

It was also you who cast doubt on Reid and his credibility yet I believe Reid was unfairly dismissed from his previous job - I forget why - perhaps you can join the dots for me?

I don't remember reading the campaign's core objective as being that, but I do agree CCFC should be the leading club in the City. Unfortunately, the owners have done precious little to defend this position. I didn't want Wasps here and I'd still rather they fucked off, but they're not going to, so SISU and the board need to act.

I don't recall SISU doing anything to buy the stadium legitimately, no. This is proven in a court on more than one occasion.

I've made comments to other threads, but on this one, I asked a genuine question as I honestly didn't see the point. As for promises being broken, you must know all the facts about that now Grendel surely as there have been plenty.

Les Reid getting sacked: I don't recall the detail, but I don't recall a court case or tribunal where someone decided him leaving was 'unfair'. If there is one and it was officially 'unfair', please enlighten me. I used to enjoy the detail in Les' stories in the CET as at the time, not many were providing the analysis he was. When he popped up on the Observer, his narrative changed.

Out of interest Grendel, did Norwich score again at the West end to make it 5 - 5
Only for the Ref to rule it out as he'd already blown for time.
Or has my brain somehow made this up over time ?
