Always been a nemesis of mine on a bbq, but recently have been buying polish ones from the local polish deli. Bloody delicious and don't frazzle on impact. Please don't judge my bbq skills, i always let the coals calm down before applying the meat, don't worry. But, my point is this, if you haven't tried polish sausage on the bbq, make sure you do this bank holiday weekend.

Well said. In fact I think this enlightenment should have gone on the Pivotal Moments thread.

Halfway through cooking I always chip sausage horizontal through the middle to make sure they're cooked properly. Goes more like sausage meat but v nice.

Has anyone ever cooked owl on a bbq?

Was once attending a BBQ party in Perth WA and a number of flying cockroaches 'flew' down upon me. I swatted several of them off me and they fell on the white hot charcoal embers. They didn't half sizzle quickly I can tell you. Didn't bother tasting them with my roo burger.

How did you get a boat to land in Verona ?

Are Sicilian fish anything to do with the Codfather?

There’s a Polish restaurant in Cardiff ive been to a few time, the food is great, proper hearty fare. The portion sizes are huge!

Central / Eastern European food is great, not fashionable but you get some really nice stuff, it's not too far away from traditional British food really

Went to one in Nottingham and that’s exactly how I’d have described it. Meat and potatoes feature quite a lot, which is a good thing in my book.

Yeah, I was going to say the same. It all feels kinda familiar.
In this restaurant they do something called a Hungarian Pancake. It’s basically a frisbee of battered potato, goulash over the top, then cheese and sour cream on top of that!
It’s basically like a ‘man v food’ challenge.

Was in Krakow last year and I learnt three things:
1) Polish Food is delicious and cheap
2) Polish Beer is delicious and cheap
3) Polish portion sizes are out of control. A starter portion of wings is 10. A starter portion of soup is a gallon with half a loaf of bread.

Loved Krakow, great place. Went to a wedding in Poland & it was great.
What you've said about the portion sizes applies to the vodka too

Never once had a hang over from Polish Vodka, plus it's just so smooth going down.

When I was a kid, if ever I was ill my granddad used to pour me a glass of his home brew stuff. It was another level, was like drinking petrol.

Something to remind you of your childhood

Spirytus Duch Puszczy Spirit

A Polish rectified spirit weighing in at a very imposing 95% ABV. This will be useful (in sparing amounts) for making your own liqueurs, but should definitely not be ingested neat.

Never tried Polish sausages but the key to doing sausages properly on the bbq is to use a meat thermometer

Give them a sear first over the coals to get some colour and char on them, then move them away from the coals/to a lower heat to finish them off until they hit the right internal temperature. Can do it the other way round too.

Worked in Poland once and got smashed on the vodka on the first night. Ended up pissing in my roommates suitcase.

Picked up a couple of bottles of Luksusowa from the Polish shop on Radford Road on Thursday.

Great vodka.

Never get it with good or bad vodka like you do whiskey. I don't drink it neat so wouldn't know a good one from a bad one until the next day when I feel like I've swallowed sandpaper.

I dunno if it Polish or not but I’ve had that Bison Grass vodka a couple of times...it’s pretty much floored me every time.
