At a million quid surely he is one of our best value signings of this century

He was so good today

[covboy9]

He’s proving a lot of people wrong

No he's rubbish and not up to it according to the consensus on here

[SkyBlue_Bear83]

Every season he's written off

[long way home]

Lovely player to watch on the ball and works his bollocks off. Deserves his minutes and definitely doesn't look out of place. Physically competes and is quicker than i thought. Great signing

[Saddlebrains]

And he improves Milan

Them 2 on the right have played together for so long they are almost telepathic

[CovveeBreak]

Every time a Tatsu thread pops up I say the same things.

Never loved a player so much. Never has a player deserved a shot at the big time like his talent deserves.

Hell of a finish. What a boy.

[Sky Blue Goblin]

Needs him to have a new contract asap

He was so good today

To be fair I think he has been very good in the last couple of games despite results.

He doesn't look out of place and it was a great finish.

Won a fair few headers too.

[letsallsingtogether]

Top top player loved by the fans, players and manager......
Say now more

[AOM]

Love Sakamoto. Battles for every ball and wins a surprising amount of headers.

He looked absolutely knackered at the end today. Ran himself into the ground.

[lordsummerisle]

Love him, but did he get booked?

Saw it on the screen, but don't remember it at all?

[stupot07]

It looked like today, he started to truly believe he's good enough to play in the PL.

[Jamesimus]

Keeping a much bigger money signing out of the team, so can’t argue about his value for money.

Likeable, a grafter and has a decent level of skill.

[hill83]

Class today. Properly stepped up to the level.

[Old Warwickshire lad]

He has managed the step up, looking like a premier league player.
Nuff said.

[Legia Sky Blue]

Who was the poster who slated him at every opportunity last season, always disparagingly comparing his stats to the much superior EMC

[Cally Fedora]

He’s a very good player. Always causes the opposition issues. A bit like EMC - just needed a huge dollop of self belief - hopefully the goal and starting does that

Putting his hair in a reckless position for the oppo player to be forced to pull it.

A reffing masterclass.

Going into the season, I couldn't think of anything that would make me happier than Sakamoto successfully making the step up.

I have nothing to say that hasn't already been said, I just love the man to death, he typifies everything I love about this club and the kind of player we want at this club, he's a cult hero who has consistently stepped up his game and is clearly deeply devoted to the project. Him getting his first PL goal was an incredible moment

He was.

From where I was it looked a good tackle, but yesterday's ref had odd views on a number of decisions.

At 30 years old that ship has probably sailed for him unfortunately.
He’s already got a couple of caps under his belt tho.

Yeah although a premier league goal ensures that no one in Japan's football system can overlook him now at least. He is no longer under any radar(if he was)

This...How does he win headers vs opponents over a foot taller than him.

On the point of headers. Surprised we havnt scored one yet!

[Gynnsthetonic]

I'd like the scouting team to sound out more Japanese players, they all seem to have the same great work ethic and with our relationship with Haas too.

Did you ever see David Speedie play?

Love Tats. Who doesn’t?
Lampard’s comments after, hailing him as proof to others of what can be achieved by shutting up and grafting were interesting.

[Diehard Si]

He found the level Saturday, he bought tenacity. Frank brings the best out in players generally ( Rudi, Torp, Thomas etc ) and i think with Sakamoto at the start of the season he didn't find the level. Should have prevented that goal against Hull. Looked very lightweight. But Saturday he played with a real intensity. He was putting himself about, being a real handful physically.

Looks like Tatsu is on the verge of being called up to the Japan team. Hope it happens as it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Former Yamagata and C Osaka MF Tatsuhiro Sakamoto will return to the Japanese national team for the first time in 5 and a half years!

Midfielder Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, who has played for Montedio Yamagata and Cerezo Osaka and currently plays for Coventry, scored a goal in the Premier League Round 9 match against Sunderland on October 31. He may be called up to the Japan national team for matches against Brazil and Paraguay in November, but before the game, he spoke about his current situation and his special feelings about challenging the Premier League.

According to the British media outlet Newham Recorder by October 30, Sakamoto himself said, "I've always wanted to play in the Premier League. This is my goal and what I wanted to achieve," and revealed that his dream had come true with his promotion to Coventry. He then spoke about his current situation and goals as follows.

"As a player, I always want to play in matches. I need to play in the Premier League and get playing time. I am confident in my abilities and want to prove myself in the Premier League. Right now, I'm waiting for the right moment to prove my abilities. We need to work hard in training, and we will continue to do so."

"We have achieved a lot in the Championship, but we have yet to accomplish anything in the Premier League. We need to show that to the supporters. We have been waiting for this moment for three years. It's wonderful that we were finally able to make that happen."

"I don't watch much football, but I know the Premier League is the best league in the world. I'm very proud to be able to play there. This team and its supporters are fantastic."

Meanwhile, according to overseas media 'Mazultala,' before the press conference announcing the Japan national team call-up on the 4th, coach Hajime Moriyasu said, "The key players and veterans are also showing good performance. The young players are also producing results and making their presence felt. Sakamoto also scored in the Premier League," referring to the 30-year-old attacker. Following the manager's remarks, the media outlet reported, "Sakamoto may return to the national team for the first time in about five and a half years."

Sakamoto has been away from national team matches since the FIFA World Cup Asian second qualifiers and the Kirin Challenge Cup held in May and June 2021. With injuries in the attacking lineup like midfielder Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton) and forward Ayase Ueda (Lille), there seems to be another chance to wear the Samurai Blue uniform.

Went into Lady Gs post-game to get a round in. My two mates disappeared whilst I queued. By the time I had been served they were back from the club shop, both of them with smiles on their faces and 'Sakamoto 7' on the backs of their shirts. They are 57 and 52 years old.

Just thought I'd share.
