can we show some appreciation for Tatsu, who since we’ve gone back to 433 has looked exceptional and back to his best.

Especially considering he broke his back last year, and some were worried he’d never get to the same level. He throws himself into everything. He has the heart of a lion

Loved how he stood up to the bullying in the box and how the team got in the mix later... definitely targeted by scumderland

Class player, just offers something a bit different to everyone else. When at his best he terrorises his fullback and luckily for us, he is coming back to his best.

His performance is a huge indicator of how we are playing as a team.

When we are off it- he looks like a non-league player who cannot get into the game

When we are on it, like yesterday- he looks Premier League quality. There's very little middle ground with him

Hopefully on his bad days he can up his consistency to a regular 7/8 out of 10, and he will be one of the best in the league

Targeted the wrong player then! Amazing attitude and desire from him in the last few months

He is amazing. My favourite player. He’s obviously loved by the team, the speed they all ran over when he was taken out on the touch line said it all.

Repeating my comments on the Ratings thread. At a personal level getting Saka back to his best has been one of Lampard's big achievements. Much more willing to take his man on, use his right foot (see Rudoni goal at Oxford) and cover for MVE

No more hugging the touchline and just passing it back to MVE

He has developed a bit of attitude (in a good way) / gamesmanship too.

Notice yesterday how he kicked the ball away after Wrights goal, his scuffle in the box during a corner and generally being more physical too.

He was everywhere yesterday and first to many second balls; he was a big part of us winning that midfield battle.

Completely agree with these comments but would also add that his strength and fitness seem to be ultra.

Last season he looked too weak to handle physical nature and the demands of a two game week championship.

But now and especially under Lampard he’s been battered a few times but got up and shaken it off.

He also just just runs and runs whether going forward or defending-never stops.

Kudos to the strength and conditioning team at the club as a lot of players look far fitter than last season.

He seems to be a much more rounded player now. Great going forwards, but also really useful at breaking up play and getting a tackle in when helping us to defend.

It's brilliant to have the double threat of Saka on one side and EMC on the other.

I think some of us were worried earlier in the season that he might struggle to be as good as he was and when EMC & Haji were back that it would be Tats who made way. He has been excellent in the last few games, even at Derby he was 1 of a couple who played ok, and it is hard to see anyone else starting where he plays.

Theres been a core of players who have been outstanding the last dozen games.

Hard to say whos been the best in this incredible run but id give it a go. In order.

1)Rudoni
2)Sakamoto
3)Thomas
4)Dovin
5)Torp
6)Allen
7)EMC
8)Kitching
9) MVE
I JUST GIVE UP!

Its been such a team effort...theres always soneone who stands up.

Wright was the icing on the cake.

The whole team..

It's clear from what Lampard says that he loves Tats as a player. And given how many great players Lampard played and trained with, I trust him to know someone special when he sees them.

Sakamoto going forward is like an old fashioned winger. Bit unique in the modern game, fun to watch and infectious.

He also works ridiculously hard off the ball and makes tackles and harasses the opposition.

What stood out for me yesterday was his defensive work. Didn’t produce much attacking, but contributed massively by snuffing out attacks.

He is back to his best, just at the right time. He offers us so much going forward with his ability to twist and turn but its his tracking back that is also so good now. He loves playing for us, see his reaction when we score,he is almost as excited as we are.

The speed of his closing down of O'Nien was excellent, basically O'Nien couldn't wait to get rid of the ball and it usually went backwards, superb pressing.
O'Nien playing like a "Dead man walking" he looked petrified every time Saka went near him.

Maybe this will teach people not to write off players returning from months out injured when they aren't back to their best the moment they set foot on the pitch.

He's benefiting from the fact that we now have attacking options all over the pitch rather than just down the right flank.
Torp's creativity through the middle and Rudoni's threat (when fit) along with EMC now becoming a force has meant teams find it hard to double up and cut out the threat from Sakamoto.

Absolutely loved the whole team sticking up for him yesterday when Chris Rigg was trying to bully him, especially Kitching who wasn’t having any of it

No matter how far the modern game progresses nothing gets fans more excited than a player who can turn another inside out . That's why i loved Bennett , Waddle , Cunningham and others growing up.
Tats does it so well and with a genuine love of the game , he's solidified his status as a fan favourite in recent times and all the more remarkable after recovering from a life threatening injury last season.

Said it after Stoke but I am still waiting for some of the thunder twats on Twitter to admit they were wrong.

Genuinely laughable that people said he’s not good enough for us.

Everyone deserves a chance to show their true worth.

We give up on players far too easily and dismiss them far too easily too.

Even just these past two seasons, it's been Saka, JDS, Kitching, Thomas, Binks, Lati, MVE, Torp, Eccles, Sheaf, EMC, Wright, Simms, even, Dovin. Allen has had more than his fair share of pelters too over the years

Been pretty much every single player.

JDS has been labelled as shite so many times now.

He clearly has frailties and he does worry me at the back, the same as his does for other posters. He's always much better that bit further out from the defence, but shite? Even if anyone doesn't think he's that good, he's clearly not shite. He proved on Saturday that he's not shite. There is a player in there.

Personally, I don't think he's good enough for the quality we need in that position going forward, but he's clearly not an awful player.

The worst thing though I find, is writing new players off far too early. Happened with Wright and Simms and EMC etc.

You have to give players time and a chance to adjust to a new club. Some players click immediately, others, it takes time to settle. Clearly happened with EMC

And with Saka, we just needed to give him time following his injury. It was a nasty injury and it's clearly taken some time for him to get back to where he was before the lay-off.

He's now back to looking the form he showed before
