I really wouldn't get too excited. Rushworth may well like it here, even though he's going to say he does even if he's ambivalent. But if he has the chance to be first choice for Brighton or another club more likely to stay up next season, he'll take it.

I was about to reply to your post saying well that's obvious isn't it. Then I've just read the last couple of pages and it seems that SBT is outdoing itself with complete lunacy.

People should just enjoy him while he’s here then wish him well wherever he ends up and we move on.

I really think this love in with Rushworth is cringy. He is a good lad with potential, but it still is potential and if we buy him with Dovin as no.2 we will be relegated. You need experience and he and Dovin have none.
Do you know why people are overly excited about Rushworth, there are two factors?
1) He has a similar route to Viktor. Loaned out by Brighton after not setting the world alight with previous loans. Has one good year with us and is placed in the super-player position and is said to be England No.1 by some of the sky blue army.
2) Because of the dross we had before. Compared with the last 3 or 4 years keepers he is a world beater.
With any premier league club he would be a No.2, not a No.1.

Just utter nonsense.

What Premier League experience have Sunderland got in the goalkeeper department?

I cannot believe Jason Steele has earned a call up but Rushy hasn't - If I was him I would be checking his family tree for any foreign ancestors cause that is an insult
It's 5th choice... the only responsibility he'll have in training & matches will be bringing the cones in & out.

Rushworth is better for having a break & training with us.

Not setting the world alight? Last time he had a ful season out on loan without an injury he was that team player of the season in teh championship

Not the way Tuchel thinks. All about the summer, and Rushworth is not on the radar for the 1st 3 keepers.
Well he has just handed what looks like a novelty call up to a 35 year old who has not played a Premier League game all season I doubt he has done that with the summer in mind

It is about the summer, Steele is going as a “training goalkeeper”, essentially part of the coaching team.

It's not. He's exceptional. He can hold on to shots most keepers have to parry. He commands his box. He's as good with the ball at his feet as most keepers in the league above. I don't see a weakness in his game. You've got to be on the wind-up.

I am usually big on England and have attended tournaments in the past, and I am sure I will get all fickle if we go on a good run but has to be the least excited I have ever been for a tournament in my life - If it was not for the political sideshow I would have probably forgot a World Cup was even happening this summer

It's a curious hill to die on.

Well I don't think you need to worry about him staying any longer personally - Just enjoying him whilst he is here and I am adamant that in 5-6yrs time we will say we were privileged that he played for us once upon a time
