Hard session today after a mixed week of running (mainly due to work & socialising again).

Today’s session: 2x 10min @ 3:30 per km (2 min walk, 2 min jog between each rep) followed by 1k @ 3:23 per km (2min slow rest) followed by 500m @ 3:23 per km. Preceded and proceeded by warm up and cool down. 13km in total. Felt good once completed! And had the added bonus of coming home to watch Leicester throw away a 2-1 lead

Decided I need to start doing some form of interval/rep training. Feel like I've plateaued now I've been running for a few months again, not seeing any improvements anymore. The plan is to start doing the 30-20-10 workout at first and see how I get on. Also doesn't take as long as trotting round a 5k in the evenings.

Just done 11.5k. Average time of 7.15 per km which is obviously slow as but I can do that without stopping so I should get quicker as I progress (hopefully!)

The important thing is getting out there and doing it. So well done to you!

Any of you guys use wearables during your runs? I got a Whoop a few months back. The data from it is unreal. Tracks pretty much everything and tella you when you are ready to train or not each day.

Still not that many people onto them in the UK yet. The strap itself is very discreet and just looks like a wristband rather than a watch. Also waterproof if any of you swim as well.

Went out training with potential new club up in here Cumbria (the plan being i'll continue to run for Coventry Godiva on the Cross-Country/Track/etc), but train and race for these guys on the fells.

Gorgeous evening on the Pennines for a 9 mile run out. Standard was high.... i was perhaps 5th to the top out of a group of a dozen (an hours hard climbing), followed by a pacy off-piste run back down. Everyone on the group was of a good standard, and it was hard work after racing on saturday.

Very promising start, and doing the flat speedwork session tonight.

Considering its nearly June I can't believe the shambolic weather. Its rained every day up north for about two weeks and I can't be arsed to run in the rain so having to wait for windows of opportunities

My mileage has really dropped the last two weeks, predominantly as I’m struggling to find time to fit my long runs in now the weekends are busy again.

I need to change that pretty sharpish as the marathon is getting ever closer and I’m still not back to my pre-covid fitness levels yet.

Hard running conditions this week. Got the week off so planned to do a few hard sessions and a few longer easier runs. Turning into a bit of a mix of the two. Shorter harder runs and shorter easier runs - not ideal, but still getting out there.

Half off-topic, half not. Has anyone watched the World's Toughest Race on Amazon Prime? It's presented by Bear Grills which on the face of it might be off-putting, but it's a really enjoyable watch with plenty of inspiring people who I would kill to have 1/10th of their will power

Ran an entire fell-race relay route solo the last weekend (minus a couple of drops to valley level down to changeover points)
17 miles and 6700ft of climb and descent. Incredibly tough.

Next day i ran up the "Dun Fell road", which is a private service road up to a radar station on top of the Pennines. Being private and going nowhere, it has no traffic, and is regarded as the hardest cycle climb in the country (Category 1 i believe?)

The section i ran was 2100ft climb in 8km. Actually beat a cyclist up the climb, although he more than redressed the balance on the way down at something like 50mph...!!

This morning’s 3.5 mile run completed in under half an hour for the first time. Must have been the England/Euros playlist spurring me on!

Anyone else get wound up by dog walkers when running? Loads of times they have the lead stretched out across the pavement and show zero interest in winding it in if they see someone coming.

Started listening to podcasts rather than music on runs and feel it helps. I found I was even aware of the music anymore but the podcasts keep my attention.

I also get frustrated with people who blatantly refuse to move even slightly out the way, even though they can either see or hear you coming - not sure what kind of weird point they are trying to make.

I’ve said it a few times, but even more so with people who refuse to acknowledge you’ve moved well out of your way (onto the road, grass verges etc) to let them pass with plenty of room.

100%. I found podcasts are much better for longer/paced runs as they both distract you from the monotony and/or pain of a run, and don’t subconsciously alter your pace like beats in songs can.

Fairly slow 10km this morning @ 59:21. What’s important is that I did it.

First run in 3 weeks after getting covid, gentle 3k to test the waters. Feels like it’ll be a while till I’ll be going full tilt again. Just glad to be back out though

Well done but do make sure you are fully recovered before doing too much.
