Half time entertainment should be a person from the crowd trying to chase and capture a squirrel that has just been let out of a shoebox on the halfway line. You get 15 minutes and win a season ticket. If you lose then the squirrel gets it's freedom and it's your responsibility to capture a squirrel for next weeks game.

With the quadrant thing I did enjoy the stand screaming in protest at what was legal placement by the Huddersfield player just because of the shit-eating grin on the referee coming over and giving it the ok, he was having the time of his life there.

Only the captain is allowed to speak to the ref. Stop all this nonsense of a whole team surrounding an official, waving their arms about like lunatics.

Immediate booking for standing in front of the ball when you have given a free kick away to the opposition. Immediate 10 yards, or booked.

Stop the picking up of the ball by players and dropping it anywhere except where it is meant to be. Happens all the time for free kicks and throw ins.

Taking one for the team - red card. It's a ridiculous concept. So, deliberately tripping, or pulling back a player, or hacking them down. You can see when it's deliberate. Has to be a red card. It's spoiling the game.

Still think we need to tinker with the hand ball situation too. Some incidents are clearly accidental and incredibly harsh I think.

Would like to see the clock stopped for timewasting etc. I know some say it will make the game last ages, but I honestly don't think it will. The timewasting happens because teams feel they can get away with it. Once they see the clock has stopped, there is no point timewasting.

And if a team is timewasting to try and just kill the momentum of the opposition, get the cards out. All the above of dropping the ball, the likes of holding on to the ball, or carrying it under your arm and not giving it back and not getting the required distance away at free kicks etc, is already covered.

1 - dont stop the game for substitutions or injuries, rugby style
2 - Immediate booking for any form of dissent
3 - Immediate booking for timewasting - yes even if it is in the first 30 minutes!
4 - booking if you pick the ball up or kick it away when its the other teams set piece
5 - If the players offside, just go back to putting the flag straight up, no more of this waiting to see what happens

None of the above will happen obviously but would be nice!

80 minute game, clock stopped when the ball's not in play
Mic up refs and post game interviews
No lines on var, if it's not obvious from a paused replay, decision stands (doesn't apply to us, but in general)
Nessun Dorma performed before every game

Towels banned for long throws and nearest player to the ball going out throws it in none of this waiting for somebody to wander up from miles away.

I think the entire policy on "professional fouls" and "dangerous play" is completely arse-about-face.

A slightly late, but genuine attempt at a tackle, can easily get you a straight red.

However, diving/feigning injury, and my pet-hate "taking a booking for the team" are whats ruining football...

To pick a recent example, in the Liverpool Everton match, Everton broke away down the left, and Trent Arnold just came over and deliberately wiped out the Everton attacker.... took the yellow card, and everyone said "well done, took one for the team"

Bollocks.... its a deliberate foul, a "professional foul" if you will... blatant cheating. Never gets called out by commentators or pundits, who won't ever say anything to damage brand football.

Until football looks upon clear cheating like other sports, as unacceptable, rather than as "part of the game" then things will never improve.

While i'm on one, i'd also chuck VAR in the bin as well.

Mine are for fans:

1. if you have a half and half scarf, get out
2. If you shout “shoot” when a city player picks up the ball 40 yards out, get out
3. If you shout “offside” direct from a throw-in, again, get out!

I would like to see stoppages for head injury to be a minimum of 5 minutes head injury assessment by qualified medical staff - thats more about player welfare than anything else (but it might stop some play acting too)

a minimum time enforced for goal kicks from hands or from the floor. With unnecessary delays resulting in a free kick to the opposition from where keeper is standing at time of excessive delay.

consistent independent post match assessment of "diving" or "play acting" injury with punishment of the offender(s)

Clearly the gamesmanship is coached and expected by managers so where a team has had say 5 players guilty of the offence cumulative in season (increase penalty as numbers of offences increase) punish the manager with a ban or fine the club

Not a rule change but referees that enforce the rules and punish players & managers more strictly for time wasting. The amount of gamesmanship this season has been terrible, and it feeds in to how youngsters coming through the game think and act.

When a player is deliberately pushed in the back just as they try to get on the ball is a foul in or out of the box! Referees think they have a God given right to judge it as a foul outside the box and not a foul when it’s in the box! Everton v Liverpool game proves my point.

Players obstructing other player from getting to the ball when they are not near the ball. It’s obstruction in or out of the penalty area.

shithousery full stop it’s fucking cheating!

taking a booking for the team should be a 15 Minutes sin bin if it is inside the last 15 minutes then a straight red card.

when a player is laying in a prone position after a tackle and they don’t get a free kick the manager/trainers shout to him to hold his head! So a head injury should incur a 5 minute on the sideline whilst he is being assessed.

Once your team

10/15 minute sin bin for dissent and cynical fouls that halt a teams counter attack when they pull them back or swipe their legs as an example.

Ball is only in play for about an hour in any given game, so stopped clock for an hour long game would be fine.

Lots of good ideas here which I agree with.

Can we also have an unwritten rule where fans pile on to any pundit's social media that congratulates a team for time-wasting, feigning injury, winning a penalty by looking for contact, 'takes on for the team' to stop an attack or just general shitty behaviour.

Also, for ref that let loads go because it 'helps the flow of the game'. A lot of the suggestions here either are or were rules but are never enforced because refs get accused of being fussy/slowing the game down or whatever. If it's in the rulebook then the ref should apply it. It's their job.

Not likely to be popular but handball rules do my head in as their too subjective. Was it deliberate? Is the arm in an unnatural position? How about just make it that if the ball hits a hand it's an indirect freekick, even in the area. If it's a blatantly obvious one to deny a goal or goalscoring chance it's a red card.

As it is there are instances where a ball hitting a hand/arm has materially affected play, so for nothing to happen even if it's accidental doesn't seem fair. But at the same time giving a penalty would seem overly harsh, so we need a middle ground. Hence the free kick.

This is similar to something i've thought about :-
After the sub board goes up, however long it takes the player to come off...the sub has to wait that same amount of time before he's allowed to come on...that will soon have the timewasting bastards sprinting off the pitch.
Once play is stopped and the ref acknowledges a sub is being made, he blows his whistle, points to the player in question and points for him leave the field. If he fails to exit within 10 seconds, the player coming on gets a yellow card and the 4th official automatically adds a minute to account for the booking and time wasting.

I'd start by insisting that refs robustly enforce the rules we've already got.

Dissent by word or action at either the ref, the lino, or the fourth official, is a caution.

If a bunch of players surround the ref, he cards them all. Touching the ref or any other official, red card.

I'd tweak the rules (if required) so that fouling a player making a clean break, a.k.a "taking one for the team", red card.

Time wasting in any of its millions of forms, caution. Kicking the ball away or not retreating ten yards immediately, caution.

If refs start enforcing all this properly, players will quickly fall in line, it works in other sports.

For player safety, and also to stop shit-housing, any head injury to require a temporary substitution and an assessment by a neutral doctor on fitness to return. Proper concussion protocols on return to play in subsequent matches, rugby is miles ahead of football on this I'm afraid.

Last but not least, offside is offside. Nice and simple and not subjective. If you're not interfering with play then what the hell are you doing on the pitch!? (As Brian Clough said, apparently).

Agree entirely. Lots of the complaints people have are already written into the laws but never applied. Then when they are they complain about it ruining the game and "if you send people off for that there'll be about 6 players left by the end". Well if you actually applied the laws consistently the players would soon start abiding by them because the reason they don't now is because they know there's a good chance they'll get a way with it. It ain't rocket science.
