Rotherham United can confirm that upcoming Sky Bet Championship fixture against Brentford on Saturday 6th March 2021 has been postponed following a number of positive tests for Covid-19 within our first-team squad As a result, the Millers training HQ at Roundwood will also be closed in an attempt to control the outbreak of the virus with immediate effect.

Careful mate,; the title makes it sound as though this refers to our game next Saturday !!

At this rate they’ll be playing a game a day last week of the season.

They are already struggling to find a slot (before the season ends) if the Luton game is postponed, by all accounts. To fall even further behind in the fixture list will give them an awful congestion. Someone on the Brentford forum quoted 7 individuals affected. Not sure why they haven't immediately called off the Luton game, as surely the players won't be available for that; although maybe it is due to timeframe in allowing for people to prove they are 'clear' for following games (perhaps if they have enough passed clear to play, then they are obliged to?

Surely at some point if you're having multiple covid outbreaks and calling games off that you then can't reschedule you're looking at forfeiting.

Clear and obvious attempt to pad their PPG stats and avoid relegation in the event of another Covid wave; 12 point deduction

Can’t see how they can play Luton next Tuesday now. They will be fighting fit for the game against us in a week’s time...

Surely their players or staff keep breaking protocol then?

If they have Covid, they won't be fighting fit. It will still have had an affect

seriously, if it's a 10 day isolation period as required, they will have to postpone Luton and us next weekend as the games fall inside that window. They're gonna be fecked by the end of the season, I'd sooner have points than games in hand

If they close their training ground then they will be struggling for preparation time for the first game back.

Unless we beat them of course, in which case they will have been rusty and lacking match fitness

This is the 3rd game postponed because of Covid at Rotherham they have also lost 2 games due to the weather, previous games against Derby and Middlesbrough on the 19th and 26th of December. Does this give them an advantage, i don't know, a game against Brentford which they would likely lose gives them a break before games they would feel they have a better chance of getting a result. It would be interesting to know which players have tested positive

Must be a sizeable outbreak, we had to play when we were without McFadzean & Wilson remember.

Definitely needs to be some investigation into whether they're not following proper procedures for it to happen 3 times though.

Maybe they've stored some blood from the previous positive tests and they just use that when they have a few injuries & want games called off?!

They will have been in contact with football league doctors. So that could be actual footage.

They already play 2 games a week until the last week of the season. Only in week 1st to 8th May do they have a free mid week. So their season will either have to be extended or they will have to play 3 games in at least two of the remaining weeks

Or they find 11 fit players from the seniors and U23s and play their fixtures
